So when I found out you could use these bulbs without needing to invest in a bridge, I was excited to try it.The bulb came in a nice box with simple instructions and setting it up on iPhone was really easy, took slightly longer on android, but worked after a minute or two.The app is easy to use, there being presents for full brightness, dimmed and nightlight, as well as a manual slider for brightness and your own presets. The light is warm and works well in the evening when reading or watching TV with the light set to dimmed.The bulb itself is very stylish and fits in well in our living-room.

If you're looking for an open filament style bulb then this will do the trick and do it very well, the brightness range on the dimmer is good.At its lowest level you can look straight at the bulb and see the curled "filament" element easily, as you raise the brightness levels up it quickly becomes too bright to look at directly but does, I turn, provide brightness levels that will light an area well, so it's not just a decorative item.

Previously had a decorative light bulb in the sitting room, that looked great but did not provide enough lumens when needed. Can whack it up to 100% and it is bright and useful, or dim it. Easily connected to google home / hue system.
Purchased this bulb for a plug in wall light. Gives off a calming warm light that can be adjusted via app. Makes the space in my home feel more updated and when the light isn't on, the design is great so have compliments before I turn it on. Worth the money.
The filament design looks awesome with its double helix pattern. It was fairly easy to set up.The glass bulb is large and looks great as the exposed bulb by itself on in a modern lamp or fitting.It was easy to setup (far easier than another smart bulb I have).Negatives are having to use the app to turn the light on/off/adjust - it's not as quick as just using a switch. Depending on the number of bulbs you have you may need a bridge too.
I have dozens of hue bulbs around the house and they all work faultlessly. Unfortunately this one has a persistent flicker when it's dimmed at a certain level of brightnesss. Works fine if fully undimmed, or very dimmed, but it's a bit iffy at the midpoint, which is sadly, where I use it most (over a kitchen island)
With the name of Philips on it, you know you're getting something quality. The biggest plus to this bulb, isn't just the decorative look, but the fact you can use it with Alexa.... make sure you've got either a Philips Hue Hub, or and Echo device with a bridge built in, like the big Echo with a screen for example. Failing that, you can simply use Bluetooth, and an app. Excellent.

It is also very yellow-orange, which whilst warm and inviting, does not illuminate all colour spaces effectively - hence it is an effect rather than a utility. The light bulbs looks great but the quality is very questionable. Especially when dimmed for a while and this causes the light to turn off on it's own. When I touch the light bulb, it is warm which means electricity is being wasted.. not happy.. I ordered 3 bulbs returned one and now only one light bulb seems to work fine.. will claim credit for two and will not buy again. Disappointed as my home is Phillip hue invested..
