Wanted to give a review right when I got it. Little background, I dabble in streaming and play FPS online with friends. I was tired of having the wired mic headset combo and had a yeti previously but wasn't in love with it. I've had it about a month now and there's ALOT of good packed in this MIC and there are a few drawbacks as well. Pros: * Come across to other players online crystal clear *Software and MIC do a goodjob drowning out background noise *RGB is really on point. The app is fairly simple almost to simple. *The on/off on tap is a very overlooked option and these guys nailed it on this one. I have mine set to color when on and no color when off. I absolutely love this microphone. I have been using a Samson Meteor Microphone up until this purchase, so, yes this is quite the upgrade - even though in the right hands even the Samson Meteor can sound great. However, I am not a microphone expert; I am of above average microphone knowledge but not by much. Right off the bat I notice that the setup's ability to transfer from the included stationary stand to my boom swing-arm AND have the ability to change adapters which is incredibly convenient. The microphone works well in any orientation whether in vertical or inversed position, to even sideways or offset. The microphone is painless to setup and easy to use, having a gain knob underneath, a touch-tap mute button on top, and a mode selector on the back. The ability to choose from four pre-programmed scenario-based settings (podcast vs. interview vs. chat etc..) without needing a complex software is great and it is all at your finger tips with the mode selector. Speaking of software, the accompanying downloadable application for your desktop allows you to customize your sound settings and, of course, the RGB colors, patterns, ambience, and reactiveness. I am always partial to my blues and greens and, boy, did I get them. The sound of the microphone is great even when using my typical chat services, Discord, Zoom, and Teams. I unfortunately do not have experience with recording with intent like as voice overs, but my friend does like to capture instances of us playing various videogames together. Even without a "boosted server" the quality is crystal clear with a wide range. The addition of a built-in pop filter allows for some better hands-off control, giving the user the optional freedom of no external pop filter mounts or covers should they choose to do so. Although, it is always recommended to consider getting one depending on your vocal habits. The material used in the construction is very reassuring and has a nice matte black. The stand itself is very solid and you would have to put in a little effort to knock this thing over. I don't see myself getting a new microphone anytime soon, and I hope that I never have to!

Good USB microphone. A lot of the price probably comes from the RGB, which make of that what you will. I've found that while you can just keep it off entirely, without it can be difficult to keep track of whether it's physically muted or not. Unless you are sensitive to sound and use mic monitoring by plugging your headphones directly into it. It's convenient that it comes with both a stand and an adapter to screw onto the shock mount to attach it to boom arm. I find it odd that the shock mount is screwed directly onto the mic, but I don't really understand the engineering of that so I won't make any broad, sweeping criticisms about that. It's overall been very good, but I've found that I've had issues with it on my new desktop setup. I have been unable to completely narrow down/figure out what exactly the problems are but my guess is that it has something to do with hardware acceleration settings and the amount of power required to power this microphone. Because of the adjustable RGB lighting on this version, it uses USB-C which from what I understand requires more power than the last model. After building my new PC, I found that for whatever reason, using certain software or doing certain things in certain software would cause most of my USB devices to experience power issues (like constantly disconnecting and reconnecting until I stopped doing whatever it was that caused it). I managed to MOSTLY stop/mitigate this issue by disabling hardware acceleration in the things that were causing it (the things that at least HAD the option to turn off hardware acceleration), mainly Discord and Google Chrome, and I also bought a USB 3.0 hub that plugs into the wall that I have everything plugged into now. But to this day the mic still experiences this issue as sometimes when I use ShareX to take a screenshot or just something random (it's pretty much always been something with screen capturing software from what I can recall at this moment) the mic will flicker and briefly disconnect before regaining connection, usually once I stop using ShareX, etc. I am unsure if the above problem is the cause of this next issue, which is a really minor one, but ever since I started experiencing these issues, every so often the HyperX NGENUITY software on Windows that is used to change the lighting settings, etc., will constantly tell me I need to update the firmware of the microphone, and I'll follow the instructions, only for it to just tell me to do the same thing some random number of times. From what I can tell after checking it in the settings, the firmware version isn't actually changing so I have no idea if something extremely minor got broken inside the mic from the power delivery issues. It's more annoying than anything; the mic still works fine more or less. The final issue I have with this mic, which is most of the reason I can't give this 5 stars is that there must be something wrong with the design of this mic in regard to static electricity. I live in a dry place in the US during the winter and sometimes I can feel the tingling of static electricity within the space between my ears and the earcups of my headphones. When I plug my headphones directly into the microphone, this static electricity is captured by the mic's monitoring and I can hear it as very loud, brief buzzing. It is at the end of the day an erratically occurring annoyance, and thanks to NVIDIA Broadcast it solves the biggest part of this problem which is that other people can hear it when I use VoIP software like Discord and so forth. If it weren't for NVIDIA's software this would be a tremendous issue that would make me even more frustrated with it. But anyways, I don't know if this is an issue with my headphones as well, as I don't have another pair to test this issue with. I have also read on places like Reddit that people experience this static electricity issue on other HyperX products, so this might just be a common problem among their product lineup. I also don't know if this mostly just me being unlucky with my living environment and the overall compatibility of all the hardware I've selected for my desktop. In summary, it's a good and easy to use USB microphone that sounds good enough. It's probably slightly overpriced, but hey what else would you expect from a gamer-targeted product like this?

This is a great mic. It is very sensitive, so a separate noise filter is recommended if you have a clicky mechanical keyboard. I use this mic with the NVIDIA broadcast software that utilizes my 2080 Ti to filter out noise. I highly recommend using this with NVIDIA broadcast if you have a 20XX or 30XX graphics card. So far I have not had any complaints from anyone on the other end of my game/video chats. The RGB isn't as configurable as I had hoped, but it's a nice feature to blend with the RGBs in my PC. It should be noted that the lights can only be configured for either live or mute, not both. So, either it lights up when the mic is live, or it lights up when muted. I would like to have one color setting when live and another when muted, but for now I'll settle for it being lot up while live and off while muted. There are only two separate LED sections, one on top and one on bottom, which limits RGB controls. Despite the limitations of the RGB controls, it does have a nice look and seems to fade/transition very smoothly. Once you configure it, you can save the setting to the mic so you don't have to launch the HyperX software at startup every time or install the HyperX software on all devices you plan to use this with. To summarize, if you're looking for a mic with great sound quality, this one will definitely do the trick. And if you're a streamer looking for something to add a little more flare to your stream, this one has some decent RGB support, but there are some others out there with more RGB features.
I found issues with the microphone; the software doesn't work in synch with the microphone. The lights arbitrarily start lightening the bottom half like Christmas lights, and after that, if I unplug and plug in, the lights are off like the microphone is not connected. It is confusing and frustrating. Compare to the previous model, I think the microphone's lights is the one which is attractive, but the lights themselves are not in sync with the software; then why pay an extra $50? Initially, I installed this app from the Microsoft store, which I thought was some bug or something with the LEDs, and then I downloaded the installer from the website; but that installer is giving an error that I should be uninstalling the Windows store app, surprisingly the windows store ... I installed/uninstalled the app multiple times; it works the first but goes back to its original behavior after some time. Decided to return this product back.
This microphone looks nice and also sounds nice. However, I have purchased this microphone for the second time now and for the second time it has stopped working without reason. It is not due to any pc port, audio driver, or cable problem. All of these things are working just fine after checking. Supposedly this microphone has an issue with it's firmware that causes this problem for me and many other people. I think this microphone is way too expensive for it to just give out unannounced like that. While it may look and sound nice, I can't see myself recommending this microphone to others due to how faulty it is. I'd spend my money elsewhere.
The HyperX Quadcast S is an outstanding microphone. I am not a gamer, I just needed a really good microphone for dictating in Word and also to hopefully use to produce a podcast. A couple of years ago I purchased a Blue Yeti, and it worked well at the time I was using it with my MacBook Pro and my Yamaha keyboard and that was fine. I ended up putting it away and not using it anymore because I really didn't have the time. So, for two years it basically stayed in its case and storage. Fast forward two years and I took it back out a few weeks ago and I could not get it to work with my MacBook anymore. Nothing I tried worked it was just crappy recording quality. Bottom line is that they weren't keeping up with the software updates and it was no longer compatible it ... MoreThe HyperX Quadcast S is an outstanding microphone. Bottom line is that they weren't keeping up with the software updates and it was no longer compatible it wouldn't work with Big Sur. So, I went looking for another microphone and I was not looking for the hyper X, I was looking for something else entirely. I came to the Best Buy website to buy something else, saw the hyper X saw and all the tremendous reviews, so I rolled the dice and I'm glad I did. Straight out of the box absolutely zero setup. I plugged it in, made a couple of trial recordings in audacity, made a couple of trial recordings in GarageBand, dictated a couple of documents to Word and everything worked perfectly right out of the box, zero effort on my part. If you want a great microphone, it doesn't matter if you're a gamer or not this is a great USB microphone. It’s a little more than the Blue mics, but there’s a reason for that. You get what you pay for. I dictated this review into a Word Doc using the mic and only had to make one correction.
I got this mic to replace a cheaper one i got from amazon for streaming on twitch. The audio quality is stellar, and i would even argue that its on par with the higher end stuff from rhode and sure, except its much cheaper AND its made by what is essentially a gaming company. With just a noise gate and a noise supression filter through OBS it already sounds like a professional grade mic. The physical aspects of it leave a few things to be desired as it is quite large. There is a more important problem though, the USB C port is on the back which creates the need for a steep bend in the cable right at the connector. So far i havent had any problems and the cable it comes with is pretty sturdy so its not a deal breaker, but i feel like it could have definitely been ... Overall the lighting, sound quality and construction make this a very solid choice.
I have the version of this microphone that is just red as well. They are literelly the same microphone but this version lights up all RGB while the other one is just R lol. Im very happy with this microphone. It sounds great its usb so its plug n play. Its got a gain scroll on the bottom so you can control how much you want your microphone to pick up. And theres a headphone jack on the back if you want to listen to youre voice when you speak. Also the stand it comes with is very good and sturdy but you can also take it off the stand and attach the microphone to a mic arm which i did and it works perfectly fine. But i would make sure the mic arm is strong and sturdy because this mic is a little heavier than some of the other usb mics. If youre using this on pc the ... If youre using this on pc the hyper x app works very good with this mic as well. Sound quality is very good. Its not like youre getting an XLR mic but its definitely better than any headset mic ive ever heard. And i forgot to mention the mute button on the very top of the mic is very nice. Its not a button you just tap it and it works every time for me. Overall this is the best mic ive ever used and its definitely worth a purchase if your lookong for a mic thats plug n play and not a headset mic
Love this mic. Quality build and real quality sound, this mic comes with a fantastic base design that works to dampen/deaden sounds and vibrations from the desk it sits on (if not on a boom). I love the varied but simple controls built in - bottom twist knob to adjust the gain level, a knob on the back to select from four different condenser profiles, and (my favorite) a sensitive touchpad on top to activate/mute the mic activity that also shuts off the LED lights to indicate same. We have had a few Yeti Blue/Yeti Nanos in the house, and I was nervous about swapping when I know those mics were a standard to measure to at the price point, but Hyper X delivers with this model. Love, love, love the USB-C power connect (Quadcast S model only) over micro-USB, and really enjoy the RGB array options over the non -S model. I will admit I'm a dork for the RGB lights- I bought the non-S version first, literally tried it for 24 hours and talked myself into returning it for the -S model. The NGenuity software you need to download has a few features, iand makes the lighting pretty customizable. Spent exactly 15 more bucks, but those two details alone sold me, otherwise I think the two models are identical as it relates to the rest of the build and craftsmanship. The sound is crisp, warm and clear (I leave it in cardioid mode, best for streaming and general use), and from about 12 inch distance it is clear as a bell and the user sounds pretty much adjacent to you. Got it mostly for gaming, but also to hot-swap into my work laptop to manage umpteen zoom calls a day, and I've actually gotten a lot of compliments/comments on how clear I now sound. Great multi-tasker so far, would highly recommend.
