I bought this guitar as a steel-stringed alternative to my classical guitar. The key features that sold me were the AC340's modest price, a concert body shape that approximates classical guitars, the presence of a mahogany-like solid top which would emphasize mid-range tones and the 45mm nut width which would make the migration from classical guitar a bit more tolerable. This guitar proved to be all of those things and more. The build quality is outstanding -- something I've come to expect from Ibanez through the years. Even the unique OPN (open pore finish) is proving to be a pleasant change from the gloss which I usually prefer on my guitars, eliminating those distracting fingerprints which reflect off the surfaces of poly-surfaced guitars in brightly-lit ... Sound:Dont think it is just a blues box.. This sounds great for everything. Fingerstyle and its one of the few OM sized guitars that I have strummed that does not get boxy with a pick. The martin is certainly a better guitar. But if you dont have the cash to throw at the martin - Get this - you wont be disappointed.I recommend re-stringing upon arrival. This came with Daddario exp 11's on it - sounded brittle - Re-strung with EJ16's and its a different animal.Well worth the money!

The AW54CEOPN came close, but the plastic nut and saddle are a slight downgrade and it came with a worse factory set up. The downside to this guitar is a lack of on-board electronics, but in return I feel that the rest of the guitar's quality is improved, and it seems that Ibanez really did use all of their budget for manufacturing this guitar wisely - and all of the guitars in the Artwood series. It sounds GREAT for the price. It projects sound very nicely considering it's not a dreadnought - this is going to be my go-to acoustic for on-the-go playing, and any sort of performances or recording ... I love this guitar. To me the wider nut is more comfortable. However, I did replace the tuners with Grover 305c because the dang thing just would not keep a tune. The Grover's STAY in tune, love them. The opening for the tuners in headstock was 10mm. I bough a "Gator Economy Gig Bag Classical Guitar" that fits it like a glove.

I did a good bit of research on it and discovered the AC 240's and 340's from Ibanez. I liked the look of the 340's binding and trim better than the 240 and the bridge and bridge plate are torrified. The 240 had grover tuners but that could be remedied if I wasn't happy with the one's on it. My local GC had a 340 in stock so I had to investigate. This thing rocks! I have used this guitar for about 1 month now. Overall I am very satisfied, it's an excellent bargain at this price. It is very playable, as broadly acknowledged, and has a comfortable size (smallish body, wide neck) and pleasant sound overall. There are a couple of unexpected (minor) flaws: reviews indicate that the bass is not the strong suite of this guitar, but the low E cord sound seems almost muffled, so slightly disappointed there. I also expected it to remain in tune more reliably that my old $30 guitar, but every time i pick it up 2~3 strings need to be fine-tuned (and the A string is hard to tune). Overall I still recommend this instrument at this price.
I bought this guitar from Guitar Center, and it was shipped to my local GC store. I was looking fora "banger" guitar to keep in my office, and maybe to use for lessons. I've long been curious about smaller bodied guitars and wider nut (I play a Martin D35 which has a somewhat narrow nut). I bought the Ibanez sight unseen based on the other reviews. My impression of it is quite different. I took it home and played it a bit. Overall it felt cheap (and very dry). I did not like the sound (almost no low end and very tinny).I returned it the next day. The best thing about the experience was how easy GC made the return. And What I learned was: I will not buy a guitar without playing it first. Oh the wider nut seemed no different, which surprised me.

First guitar, but I know music and can be bougie. A little over my budget but well worth going over. Maybe only one other cheaper guitar came close to this one but it plays and looks gorgeous and my brother who's passionately played over 10 years agrees. Definitely best guitar for $.
I was just moseying around the Cherry Hill, NJ store and I came across the Ibanez AC340OPN. I was amazed that it sounded better than some Martin's. This guitar Booms. I came back the next day and the sales personnel - who are excellent - fully accommodated me with a trade-in. I took this baby home, and man O man - I had an AC240 several years ago, but this model beats it by a mile. I love the 1.75" nut. I love the warmth of the sound. The scale is shorter than an OM - making it way more playable - it's so easy to play it's almost a joke. I would definitely recommend this to beginners, novices, and professionals.
