IK Multimedia iRig Keys I/O 25

Overall I'm happy with the iRig Keys I/O 25 Keyboard Controller however I've found a few bugs, which on Googling are a common experience. Firstly a number of the software packages it comes with won't run on MacOS Big Sur. Kind of annoying as a major selling point was its integration with Mac and iOS. I'm also unable to update the firmware however I can't do this on my Mac due to not being Big Sur compatible. It does work on my iPad but seems to crash the iPad every so often.

It's a couple of devices in one, so I'll quickly address each. The keys, know and pads all feel really good, full size keys are great. The pitch control works well, you have to watch the mode button for the mod wheel. I opened several iOS apps that worked right away, a few didn't, but they weren't the type of app I'd need keys for. As far as the sound module, I haven't tried it yet, I hope it at least works as a vocal and guitar processor. I don't need it as a recorder, but will try it out.. Make sure to get your free pc/mac stuff. SoundTank alone is a great value.

A Sad Roll-Out For An Updated iRig I/O 25 MIDI Controller

I bought this for my iPad based Garage Band app. The product description said that it could be used for this purpose "right out of the box". Well, the only thing it did right out of the box was exactly Nothing. I spent countless hours going back & forth with online support at IK Media - they not only didn't help me, they just stopped responding. I spent almost an hour with Guitar Center's phone support, Adam - he was incredibly knowledgeable & creative. However, he couldn't solve it either. He suggested that I bring it to my GC store. When I did, it wouldn't even turn-on. In addition - it supposedly came with a bunch of app downloads, such as Sample Tank 3 - but these would not download to my new iPad. Sent it back!

Brilliant midi controller

Full size keys, built in guitar / mic input works straight out of the box with IPhone and Garageband.

You are forced to put your headphones on and plug to the controller instead of plugging them to the ipad. This issue wouldn't bother me that much if it weren't for the short cable issue.I'm considering returning the product due to issue 1. Before buying, I read a review that talked about the proprietary cable and thought: - ok, maybe it is not that bad..., but I was wrong. It is stupid, and makes me hate the product a lot.They could easily fix that by providing an adapter, allowing you to use your own cables, but there is no such option.

Definitely would buy this again

I use this as my quick and personal set up , link straight to my iPhone 11max pro and works perfectly. I don't think you can get better, super Dope look Very compact and easy for traveling, comes with a stand for iPhone or iPad and 2 different USB cables so it also can be used on laptops and desk top computers as well . It's just a cool and fun piece for me and I think it's worth the price ...

Good experience with online ordering

I had some gift cards that the easy online ordering system let me redeem right there on the screen. Easiest ordering system I’ve used in a long time. Will be buying more online from best-buy. Very impressed. Plus they had stock on the item I needed to buy when everyone else was out. Happy customer.

Not a "Happy Camper" at the moment

This was purchased, hoping that this device would be (as advertised) a plug-and-play midi controller for iOS and Mac OS. Before connecting the I/O 25 to my iMac or iOS devices, I read up on the latest firmware update. THE FIRMWARE UPDATER DOES NOT WORK ON OS MOJAVE!! Yes, there is a warning on IK's website not to update the firmware using OS 10.14! Apparently, there is a fix coming "soon". How can a company (IK Multimedia) that produces hardware to be used with Mac OS and iOS not have a fix in the 5 months since Mojave was released?? Fortunately, I have an old Windows 7 laptop and was able to load the firmware update from that. I thought it would be smooth sailing from there; and boy, was I wrong! My iMac would show that a midi device was connected and I could even select the I/O 25 as my input in GarageBand, however, the I/O 25 never lit up and nothing interacted. After 5 hours of trying different software settings and reinstalling the firmware, I gave up. I opened a support ticket with IK on their website and explained my issue. I got a response today (3 days after opening the ticket) that stated that my problem was that I had run the firmware update from my iMac and that the problem would be fixed if I ran the updater from another OS. This must have been an auto response because I had clearly stated that I ran the update from Windows 7. This is beyond frustrating. I am very likely to return this. If IK can sort this out promptly and get it working, I will amend this review. In the meantime, I have very little confidence in this product or in the IK company.

Perfect all-in-one box.

Works well for what I needed. A small midi keyboard with mic input. Comes off as a little plastic-ish, but not too shabby either.

Thanks for a great experience

So far this keyboard is exceeding my expectations. I can't wait to travel with it! I shopped around at other big name music stores knowing that I would make my purchase with Sam Ash. You guys rule!
