A big change (for me)

I bought this processor for a big update, I went from an i7 3770k to an i7 10700 and it's day and night! I expected to have a turbo mode at around 4.2 and my tests brought it to 4.7 without overclocking so I am VERY satisfied! No installation worries but the only flaw is that there is no thermal paste included (apart from the intel cooler supplied with it). Its would be cool added or offered with the purchase of the processor!

Upgraded from i5 3570k. Big improvement! I spent 5 weeks contemplating this 10700, the 10700k, and the R7 3700X. Either Chips weren't available or Mobos were out of stock but I finally decided on this non K version because I didn't need to run my cpu constantly OC'd like my old i5 K chip. Another reason was because of the writeup on ryzen bottlenecking a 2070S which was the GPU I wanted to get. Overall I feel this is a great chip that provides great multitasking capabilities as well as great frame rates in gaming. It idles down to around 35 C when under 15% load and up to 55 C when it boosts to too speed (4.6GHz). I've maintained that speed and temps on all cores for long stretches (6 hours). Would highly recommend. K chips are but you don't need it with this 10th ... MoreUpgraded from i5 3570k. Big improvement! I spent 5 weeks contemplating this 10700, the 10700k, and the R7 3700X. For gaming, virtualization or building software, this is a solid processor. It's faster than my ryzen 2700 gaming desktop when compiling the same software, the MidnightBSD kernel. The virtualization features seem to work a lot better than the AMD solution. If you buy it for VMware ESXi setups, it does not support sensors for monitoring hardware, but works fine otherwise on asrock z490 matx board, with the caveat that I needed a different NIC. The newer intel gigabit NICs aren't working yet. Not a CPU issue of course, but just something to be aware of.

Fast easy install Faster than my old top of the line 6th gen by a good 30%
9 July 2020

I am a DIY guy so I build as much of my own stuff as I can myself. I used to get the over clocking "K" series in what ever I bought and this time realizing I never really over clocked anything I went with this model and got a CPU more in line with the type of use I have. Good decision. ASUS tuf z490 board and my 1151 socket cooler bolted right up. GeForceRTX 2060 vid card, 16 megs Corsair Ram Does anyone really ever use those little CPU coolers that intel puts out? Nice to have current level hardware.

Fast. Just blindingly fast. And stable.

As always, I continue to go to Intel when I want a solid, reliable computer. Can someone else make something that may crush video editing and crank out FPS for this price? Maybe. Will I have to fight to get other competitor's product to even WORK some days? Most likely. If you want a no-headache solution, there's a reason corporations and enterprise solutions typically revolve around Intel products.

Great upgrade
9 September 2020

For the i7 10700 non-k version. Upgraded from an i7 3770, night and day. CPU intensive games are no match for this processor. Only had one instance of power management/throttling which I haven't been able to figure out. Resolved itself without a reboot. Put on a 212 cooler because I heard of poor cooling with the stock cooler. Temps sit very low even under load.

Its Intel lol. Good for everyday and gaming I got the 10700 non k version dont need to oc. Got this cuz couldn't find a ryzen. Its decent good thermals and it has on board graphics to get you going until you find a GPU. Would deff not try any AAA gamesbut it gets you started

Nice CPU for my new PC Rig
22 August 2020

Building primarily a PC for Flight Simulator, after much research I zeroed in on this CPU. Was very easy to install in my new Z490 Motherboard. I opted not to use the included stock fan and put a tower fan cooler on to the CPU, I did this based on reliable experience of others out there. So far, my initial usage of this CPU with 32 GB of RAM and fast M.2 NVMe (for Win 10 Pro and the Flight Sim software), so far I am very happy with its performance.

No need for K chips
6 October 2020

I only use this computer for gaming and general daily use, it runs great. I upgraded from an i5-8500 (6 core 6 thread 3.9GHz all core Turbo). Some programs were struggling to perform due to lower clock speed and no hyperthreading. This is a much better performing chip. Not being a K chip means no 5 GHz. Unless you want to stare at benchmarks and get big numbers to pop up on your screen you won't functionally notice a significant difference. You can however with a Z490 board remove the power limits and it will behave like a stock 10700K. Just make sure you have good enough cooling for this as the included cooler is still garbage. Intel CPUs are so much easier to install, no annoying AM4 pins to bend or frustratingly awkward cooler bracket nonsense. Even though AMD has come a long way there are still too many problems. Games like Death Stranding scale well with multiple threads, it runs amazingly. I think we will see this trend continue. Going forward games will most certainly use multithreaded CPUs better. No more Quad Core is enough for gaming, time to upgrade

The 10700 delivers excellent performance for the price
17 October 2021

My computer runs dramatically better with this CPU over my old gen 3 i5 that I used to have, despite it having a lower clock speed. It's remarkable what a difference a few years of technological progress can make. It delivers marked results for the price, and I would definitely buy the the 10700 again if I were making a similar computer to a friend or family member.
