Upgraded from an i7 Coffee Lake CPU and thought I was being frivolous and wasting my money. To my surprise, I noticed a substantial difference in even basic tasks I perform day to day. I noticed my CPU meter barely moves while playing back & making music in Ableton Live now and that's with over 65 tracks open and a decent amount of what used to seem like very CPU intensive VSTs enabled! I have not had to freeze any track while producing yet. Gaming felt better as well. I saw a minor increase in FPS in a few games I am playing consistently. Yay for being frivolous I suppose!

This is such an amazing processor for the price. The performance and snappiness is incredible. This will fit all your gaming needs while you're streaming, watching YouTube, and working on spreadsheets at the same time. The temps can run kinda high so definitely try to watercool if you're doing any sort of overclocking at all. Overall this run much better to me than the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and has much smoother and consistent performance. Not to mention LGA 1700 seems to be going on to 14th gen, so you'll have room for upgrading in the future.

Purchased about a month ago for a new full system upgrade. My old system was put together about 10 yrs ago, so anything new was going to be impressive. Ended up with the i7-12700K because for the price and deal going on at the time, it was impossible to ignore. Though I wouldn't advise doing this all the time because you start doing an impromptu Cinebench test.

This thing is an absolute beast and the thermals really aren't as bad as people say about 12th gen. I have a 240mm aio on mine and it caps out around 70-75 running kombustor and usually in the low 50s in games depending on how cpu-heavy they are. Idle is typically in the low 30s. Granted I don't have it truly overclocked yet, just XTU's auto overclock which added 100mHz but still.Next, nothing I do can make this thing even begin to break a sweat. Usage in games maxes around 25% in games that'd put my old 9600kf at 100% and start causing frame drops.Overall, this cpu is a monster. Mine passmarked over 36k out of the box. 0 frame drops from an overloaded cpu since I've made this upgrade. I absolutely recommend it.

I mainly do high-end gaming and photo processing, and I barely tax it at all (at least until I do the big batch exports). If you do more video work or numerical simulations it may be more worthwhile. It'll probably last me a few years longer than my last CPU did, but still not convinced it'll be much difference at that point against the i5. -This CPU seems about the limit of what your average air cooling can handle. It'll work, even for hours at a time, but you may want to spring for an AIO, or at least a 2nd CPU fan if you're running at 100% max turbo power all the time. -Windows 10 has a few usability issues with the hybrid architecture. It seems any "below normal" or "low" priority processes get sent to the E-cores by the thread scheduler. Most of the time you won't notice, but sometimes high-load tasks are assigned these lower priorities to keep things running smoothly, and in such cases they'll get stuck using just the 4 logical processors on the E-cores and none of the 16 available P-core logical processors. There are tools like Process Lasso to help automatically reassign processes to P-cores, but Windows 10 users will need to keep an eye on task manager to identify if high-load processes are getting stuck on E-cores. This is more a knock against Microsoft than Intel though. Still feels like hybrid architecture is worth having so high-load stuff can go to P-cores and the system still has E-cores to manage essentials and avoid getting choked down. -Fun fact: just the 4 E-cores on this seem faster than the entire CPU that I'm replacing (i5-3570)
