Playing online games with my friends is always good to have a quality microphone. The JBL Quantum Stream Studio is an awesome option to get crisp sound during multiplayer sessions. Starting off with the audio quality it is very very good! My voice is very crisp and clear, buddies asked if I got a new mic/headset as soon as they heard my voice because it sounded a lot better than my old mic. The only drawback is that this microphone pics up everything, even my kid's tv from 2 rooms down. To fix this I had to go to the PlayStation 5 settings, Sound, Audio Output, and TURN OFF "Switch Output Device Automatically". This was the only way I could make the audio work the way I wanted. The microphone provides a sturdy base that allow it to be tilted to fit your needs and also screw a mounting arm if you prefer. The mic comes with 4 different sound profiles and they are easy to toggle between them, just press the button at the bottom on the mic and the LED indicator will show you which profile you are selecting. The mute option is my favorite feature, just do a quick tap and hold to mute the mic and the LED around the device will change from green to red, letting you know the audio is muted. Their audio can also be muted directly from the PS5 mute button on the controller. Build quality feel very premium and the mic will look good with any type of set up. There are LEDs around the knob that will show you the mic and headphone levels so everything is very simple to understand. I'm super happy with this new product, keep up the good work!

Also, the top mute button doesn't work as well as it looks. So, all in all, I think it's a good microphone and it's the ideal size for carrying around if necessary. However, the price is exaggerated for what the product offers and the brands that compete directly, in my opinion, continue to dominate the market in this area.I would also like to say that the software that comes with the microphone is good, useful and essential for running all the functions, but it is a bit heavy on the computer.

This is a great product although there is one issue that I am having. On PC I can't seem to understand what my friend is saying while I am playing a loud game (for example call of duty) but I can hear him. I was on the quantum engine program and everything was turned up to 100%, but I was wondering if it was me using steel series headphones and not JBL headphones. Not really sure if I am doing something wrong or not, but besides that the sounds is great! the headphone jack in the back is a plus for me. The RGB customization on the engine is fairly decent, I like that you can choose the colors on the volume knob. Impressive features packed into a compact mic!

The JBL Quantum Stream Studio is easy for a beginner to use, with features a seasoned professional can appreciate. Right out of the box, you can plug the microphone into your computer and use it immediately. It worked seamlessly on both Windows and Mac. This microphone sounds great, and it isolates my voice well. In my testing, the microphone didn't pick up my neighbor's leafblower or the sound of a hammer associated with a DIY project happening two rooms over. Many colleagues complimented me on how much better they could hear and understand me during Zoom meetings. Many colleagues complimented me on how much better they could hear and understand me during Zoom meetings. Because of where this microphone sits on my desk, I was initially concerned that it would pick up the sound of my typing. Turns out that my fears were unfounded. The microphone has four separate pickup patterns for sound: Cardioid (the default), omnidirectional, stereo, and bidirectional. A button on the bottom of the microphone lets you easily switch between these modes while staying out of the way so you don't accidentally change the pickup pattern. The microphone also has a quick and easy mute capability; just a touch of your finger to the center of the top of the microphone mutes and unmutes your microphone. The front of the microphone has a volume control knob that you can use to control the volume of both the microphone itself and a pair of headphones which you plug directly into the microphone using the 3.5 mm jack next to the USB-C port.I am really impressed with the abundance of features JBL has packed into this single microphone. More than just those features, they've also put considerable thought into the look and feel of this microphone. Weighing in at 1.223 lbs (554.7 g), twice the weight of the original JBL Quantum Stream, the Studio version features sleek lines and durable metal housing and base. And you won't have to worry about the microphone being knocked over by an errant cat on your desk. The stand's 3 1/2" diameter metal base ensures your microphone stays upright and secure. My husband formerly worked in radio and was delighted with this microphone. He also noticed that the microphone stand and base are connected using an industry-standard 5/8"-27 mount, which made it easy to attach the microphone to a boom arm. Unscrewing the bottom from the microphone also revealed that the screw securing the base to the microphone is also threaded to attach to any tripod or boom arm that supports either male or female 1/4"-20 mount points (the kind used for a DSLR camera or tripod). Small details like this show that JBL was hyper-focused on versatility with this microphone and included features professionals like my husband notice. Bravo!Overall, I am impressed with this microphone. It sounds great and has terrific versatility.

This is ideal for individual podcast or monologue recording. 2) Omnidirectional - Picks up audio from all 360º around the mic. This is great for a group podcast where all participants are surrounding the microphone. 3) Stereo - This mode translates the left and right site of microphone audio into a stereo field, which works great for instruments and vocals that need record stereo width. 4) Bidirectional (also known as figure 8) picks up audio from the front and back of the mic. This mode is ideal for dialog between two people or performing a duet where each participant is on opposite sides of the mic. Most microphones on the market only offer 1 polar pickup pattern, so having 4 allows you to use one mic to achieve different goals as needed without swapping out.Now on to the build quality. The chassis and base are metal and feel like professional hardware. There is a rubber footing under the baseplate for sturdy placement and vibration absorption. The base plate can be threaded off to reveal a standard microphone mount, allowing you to use your existing arms, goosenecks, tripods or other mounting gear.Overall, the Quantum Stream Studio is a great value for content creators and gamers alike. If your recording environment needs change by the day, hour, or episode, the multi-pattern polar patterns is a huge benefit to minimizing your setup and breakdown time.

Nice upgrade to QS; Mac compat.(but no sw support)

I've been using the original Quantum Stream model which is a really nice mic in a slightly smaller form factor. The QS Studio design makes some intelligent improvements, however, such a moving the cable connections to the rear instead of the underside, offering multiple "sound stage" style modes, and adding a sound level LED right onto the front button area. And with all of the essential features controllable via physical buttons, there is complete compatibility with Macs/macOS. This would really push JBL into the top tier, not only in product design and sound quality but in user experience. For me, it's the missing feature that leaves me honestly giving a 5 star quality product only 4 stars.

Premium looking/feeling feature packed microphone

Never thought I'd get excited about a microphone - but this thing is too nifty to not feel a bit like a kid in a candy shop if you like lights and technology (and people hearing you clearly)! Before I unboxed the microphone - despite the box not being overly large, the 'heft' was apparent as soon as I picked it up - which was a reassuring feeling. Once I had it out, you can immediately tell most of it is made out of some sort of metal - which is always a plus - plastics certainly do the job in a lot of cases and are fine but durability compared to metals will just never be the same. I feel pretty confident if I manage to slap it over accidentally or my dogs jump on me and happen to hit it - it isn't going to just shatter.Once I got past the feel and quality of ... MoreNever thought I'd get excited about a microphone - but this thing is too nifty to not feel a bit like a kid in a candy shop if you like lights and technology (and people hearing you clearly)! I feel pretty confident if I manage to slap it over accidentally or my dogs jump on me and happen to hit it - it isn't going to just shatter.Once I got past the feel and quality of the microphone (A+) - the RBG lighting is hard to ignore, and is a nice touch. I love that you can turn it off and on in the QuantumEngine app and tweak it - very simple to do. The one touch to mute on the top of the microphone is about as simple as you can get - although in my opinion I do wish it was a bit easier to activate (though I can see it being purposely requiring effort so you aren't accidentally muting yourself if you happen to brush against the microphone, etc.). But honestly not an issue, I just have terrible nerve damage in my hands so I often feel like I am putting more effort in to pressing than I probably am.The instant feedback from the 'VU meter' (not really sure what exactly that means to be honest LOL) is actually very helpful and lets you know if your voice or other noises are being picked up, and basically the volume that they are being picked up at - so if you have something going on in the background or are doing something near to the microphone, without that feature you may not realize it is being picked up - not an issue with this microphone - the RGB dial lets you know the intensity of what is being picked up. Quick example is - I apparently have it too close to my microphone as I write this review because it is lighting up as I type :)I have only had the opportunity to get some short gaming sessions in with friends I typically play with (so they know my voice, and how it typically sounds with my headset microphone) and they immediately commented on my voice coming through louder / clearer without me saying anything to them about having a different microphone - which was nice to hear. Having the ability to possibly set the microphone to pick up 360 degree (if I was to do a podcast or something else) or the other 'polar patterns' as they are called is a nice plus if I ever have a situation arise that could benefit from those settings.Personally I will keep the microphone on the included stand but it's nice to know the base can be twisted off (which is very easy to do as of testing) and the microphone mounted to other solutions depending on need.Something that is also a feature (though I may not personally use) is the ability to hook up a 3.5mm wire from the microphone itself, to my headphones which lets you tweak the voice / headset volume settings like most premium headsets let you do (basically the percentage of voice volume versus headset sound feedback volume) - again nice to know I can do this if I feel the need - if I was not using this microphone I would use this similar feature that is built in to my headset - it does come in handy.Overall, I think this bad boy is worth the price tag - it's built very well, has just about every feature you could hope for in a microphone (especially if you are serious about your need of a microphone for podcasts or streaming, etc.) and the QuantumEngine app is super intuitive and lets you tweak to your hearts desire if you are hardcore like that :) JBL makes great products and this one does not disappoint.

This microphone is fab!
4 March 2024

This is the most fly microphone I have had the pleasure to use! The microphone, has a knob on top that controls gain input or headset volume and consecutively controls the brightness of the LED light; the louder the volume, the brighter the light. The microphone, has a knob on top that controls gain input or headset volume and consecutively controls the brightness of the LED light; the louder the volume, the brighter the light. The knob, also serves as a function button, when pushed changes the color of the LED light thus changing selectable voice pick-up patterns such as cardioid to omnidirectional as well as other functions that I have tried to capture in my pictures. All the functions can also be accessed through the quantum engine software download which allows you to adjust various settings such as an equalizer (EQ), LED display, polar patterns and noise reduction. Some other notable features include voice monitoring with easy volume control, a shock absorber for noise reduction, and led ring indicator (red, blue and red for mute) to indicate the microphone status. This mic is perfect for when you only have a single sound source and don’t want to pick up room sounds that would affect the recording such as recording a podcast, on a skype/teams call or games that require online interaction or to stream your comments during the gameplay. I must say that recordings I have created using this microphone are crystal clear, especially when compared to others using a standard headphone mic. I like the LED light shows s that are incorporated in the Quantum products, which adds to the ambiance and overall experience. I have paired this with the JBL quantum 910P using both the wireless dongle and a direct connection and it works flawlessly. The workmanship and styling paired with exceptional sound quality make this a must have for those who demand a professional arrangement.

Very intuitive, great experience!

I received my JBL Quantum Stream Studio microphone about 2 weeks ago and personally, I am very pleased with the product. It is truly intuitive to use and has a great design: I'm sure even those who are not experts in the field of audio will find its operation immediate and accessible. Every time I look at it on my desk, I feel like I have a powerful tool at my fingertips, I feel like a streamer! The user experience is excellent: everything seems to be designed in detail for the best possible experience. It's so intuitive that I didn't need the introductory manual so much. Obviously, its audio doesn't disappoint: it's really great and useful for calls with friends but especially for podcast recordings, streaming, capable of recording multiple voices clearly even ... MoreI received my JBL Quantum Stream Studio microphone about 2 weeks ago and personally, I am very pleased with the product. I also appreciated the ability to connect headphones. I am satisfied with the product and its versatility.

What a great mic!

I started using this mic at my desktop PC for chatting with friends on Discord as well as for raiding in World of Warcraft. When I first switched to using this mic, people didn't recognize my voice. This was because it actually captured my voice properly and is distortion free, unlike my previous mic. I also really like how it indicates when it picks up sound with the light around the volume knob. This is very helpful and frees up screen space when streaming. The light is also helpful for knowing exactly when sounds are being picked up by the mic so you can keep unwanted sounds from being registered with the excellent capacitive touch mute button on the top of the mic. You can switch from a solo speaker to being used to pick up all the instruments in a band with a quick tap of a button on the bottom of the mic. I highly recommend this mic!
