I’ve beefed buying these for my grandsons since they could walk. They are sturdy waterproof leather. They hold up well, despite the actives of my rough and tumble grandsons. I’m disappointed that the insole is no longer removable. When they get their shoes soaked, or get the insides dirty, it’s nice to be able to take the insoles out to wash them off or dry them out. They also are a bit hard to get on. The old style with a Velcro top strap was much easier for the boys to get on and off.

I bought three pairs for my young boys. They love them.Easy for them to put on and tighten up. Each pair fits perfectly.Of course, they tested out the boots for their waterproof ness by standing in mud puddles while waiting for the School Bus. Their feet remained dry. We're very satisfied.

I bought these for my 5 year old for our summer hiking around the Yukon and they have been so great. The soles have awesome traction on wet and dry ground and they’ve been tested on everything from dirt/gravel trails to scree to moss to mud and more. They have kept his feet very dry and he’s been curious enough to test most puddles :) Since they are waterproof his feet do sweat more so good socks are a must if you’re doing long hikes. These give him the grip he needs to go up and down steep inclines. Now that they’ve been tested in some of the greatest trails in the Yukon I know they can handle the playground this fall when he starts school. I think they will last well into the fall when it gets cool and snow starts falling. I originally ordered 2 sizes unsure of how Keen’s fit and he fit the smaller size (true to size for him) and I will be keeping the next size up for when he grows out of these. Super good hikers for kids!

I bought it for my niece; this is in fact the second pair that I bought for she outgrew her first pair. These boots are very sturdy and provide very good support. I am sure I will get to buy a new, bigger pair once my niece outgrows the current pair in the near future!
I bought these for my very active 4-year-old daughter, after she grew out of her last pair of Keens. I love this brand. True to Keen's commitment to great quality outdoor shoes, this shoe has excellent tread on the sole, waterproof fabric that helps keep her dry when she can't resist the puddles, and the reinforced toe that stands up to much punishment, including the inevitable toe-dragging when she's riding her run bike (this activity, in particular, usually destroys all other shoes). The fit on these is great, and the height of the ankle is perfect (not too high, but enough to give some extra support and warmth) and the elastic laces/velcro are great for independent dressing. We love keen shoes and have many pairs but this boots just didn’t work for us. After running through a few muddle puddles my son’s feet were wet and 24 hours later the shoes were still wet. This was only used one time, the terrain was wet but it was not raining, the puddles were very shallow and it was not like he immersed his feet on it. So i’m not sure why his feet got so wet. We were disappointed. Customer service was very helpful. Shoes have been returned and we are awaiting for our refund.
Bought these for my grandson to keep his feet dry on the many slushy days in New York City that don't warrant snow boots. I was extremely disappointed when his feet were wet the two times that he wore them. They are not waterproof. A very expensive choice for a product that is useless for it's intended purpose.
I am a huge Keen fan and had reasonably high expectations for these boots since we own several different styles within my family. I've bought my daughter the Newport H2 sandals (which we LOVE) every Summer since she was born, and for her 3rd birthday we decided to gift her with her 1st pair of hiking boots. We hike at least 8 miles a week. Sometimes i wear her in a carrier, but over the past few months she's been walking a couple of miles on the trails on her own. We both have Keen hiking boots and I love matching with my toddler! But I noticed we had identical scabs in the same place on our right ankle. Then my daughter started complaining more about her ankle hurting. I realized that it was our hiking boots that were rubbing in the exact same spot on our ankles. ... MoreI am a huge Keen fan and had reasonably high expectations for these boots since we own several different styles within my family. It seems to really cause her discomfort, so unfortunately we will need to return her boots and find something else that works.
My kid liked them just standing trying them on, but as I thought within the first 5 minutes of actually hiking, she was complaining about the "very annoying" hard ridge on the back of her foot. Likely going to be a blister problem. Luckily sized up so she can wear thick socks but in summer time they'll be useless.
These were fine for my 11-12 yr olds 2-3 day backcountry trips with me in terms of rugged soles and decent uppers on dry terrain but he got total soakers on stream crossings where the water level exceeded the lower part of tongue. I know all boots leak a little through the tongue gusset but these performed exceptionally poorly. One stream crossing early on and he had to deal with sopping socks for the next 8 hours. We kept switching out back and forth with his one extra pair of socks while we tried to dry the other pair outside my pack but the boot liners I guess hold too much water and kept on re-soaking the switched socks. You'll need to stick to the dry if these are going to work out for you. Also the lacing bungee wear out very quickly at the top eyelets.
