This was purchased to cut 1/8 and 1/16 stainless steel cable and it works great. It is also a very well made Knipex tool. Note: The package says 'Made in Germany', but the tool itself says 'Japan'. That's ok because Japan is capable of high quality tools and knives.

I was surprised how easily and cleanly this cuts 1/8in wire rope.
These are the best cutters for cutting wire. It is very smooth and easy to cut. I would definitely buy these again.
You get what you pay for, and cheap China cutters can't cut it.. Cutting stranded aircraft cable requires a tight precision tool that doesn't allow the wire to wedge between the jaws and this tool does the job. You can't buy a cable cutter for $ 14.95 and expect it to do the job. If you expect to cut cable over 1/8", I would recommend you look at a bigger size to get the extra leverage.
