I really love Knipex tools but I have to say that these were not as useful to me as an electrician than for a plumber or other trades that work with pipe over 1 “. They are big around the head area and difficult to handle opening and closing with one hand ( I use size L gloves) from a ladder. They’d probably do great working on the floor. I’m going to try the 6” and see if they are better because I like the design. They just were a bit oversized for my liking.

Awesome tool just got them 2 days ago. You can adjust to the size of the jaw on compressions using the printed numbers on the tool itself the 22 mark wouldn't be for a 22 nut but once you remember the corresponding number you don't even need to put it on the nut to get the size right as it closes a little when you squeeze the lever, saves a little time. I think i use 22 for a half-inch nut but don't quote me lol You can perform close to a ratcheting action to tighten those radiator tails and compression nuts by loosening your grip and allowing the jaws to slip over the nuts edge to the next flat surface and squeeze again. It's easy to overtighten compression joints with this tool so some care is needed. May not get under all boilers to loosen flow and return nuts ... MoreAwesome tool just got them 2 days ago. May not get under all boilers to loosen flow and return nuts but if it does fit it fits well without rounding off the nuts slipping and banging your knuckles or even worse cutting them. They are my go-to spanners now but I still use my Bahcos for access to some places I'm just more careful of smashing my knuckles. It's great for Jobbing, maintenance and installation work. I don't normally do reviews but I had to say something for my fellow engineers. I always look for a plumbers review when buying tools. You know what, I'm in a good mood now I may write some more reviews about other products, just the good stuff though lol.

Purchased this plier in Sept 2022The FIRST time I used it , to hold a stripped steel screw, the tip of the jaws chipped in 3 places, the metal is clearly not hardened, very disappointed of the value for what I paid. So I started a claim process and they want ME to pay for the shipping so it can be 'inspected'. Be very wary of the quality and customer service of Knipex. Last tool I will buy from them.

Combine the best features of an adjustable wrench and channel lock pliers in one indispensable tool
22 November 2018

I've never like adjustable wrenches; no matter how tightly you turn the adjustment screw, the jaws always open up a bit under load and may slip and cause damage, especially to delicate brass, plastic, or alloy plumbing or bicycle parts . However, these won't slip, since they combine the best features of an adjustable wrench and channel lock pliers in one indispensable tool. Once you've used a pair, you will never use anything else. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I bought the 7" pliers for bicycle repair and liked them so much, I also bought this 10" pair for general use; I'll probably also buy the 12" pair eventually...

I have a number of various types of Knipex tools, all of which are incredibly well designed and well constructed of high quality materials. This tool is no exception. I can use it as pliers, a press, a temporary clamp, a wrench, a bending tool, and additional tools. It is the most versatile of all the Knipex tools that I have purchased. I like the 10-in version that I purchased, but I can see the utility of having various sizes from the mini to the largest of these tools, and I undoubtedly will purchase more in different sizes.

These are extremely handy when you don't want to drag out a bunch of combination wrenches. Puts the old adjustable wrench to shame. Incredible amount of holding power on whatever you're trying to tighten or loosen(I crushed a nickel in half with these just to see if they could). I work professionally on heavy equipment and these work great on all kinds of hydraulic fittings. Won't replace a set of combination wrenches or socket set, but are so much better than a pipe wrench or adjustable. Something to keep in your pocket when your laying under an 836H compactor on a landfill and don't want to make another trip to the service truck for another wrench(#trashjuice). My most-used pliers.

I'd heard good things about these and was excited to try them out. They absolutely live up to the hype. They perform most of the same tasks you'd use an adjustable wrench for but they don't round off bolts when you're applying a lot of torque, they don't mar the finish, and they can often "ratchet" similar to channel locks.A third thing that I've found them useful for is crimping things. They have massive mechanical advantage and they squeeze much harder than most pliers. When I'm sweating vertical runs of copper and it's advantageous to slightly deform a fitting so that it won't simply fall out of the pipe it's hanging off, you just give these a gentle squeeze and it's perfect. Stick a penny in there and with no effort it'll crush. Have fun trying to do that with ... MoreI'd heard good things about these and was excited to try them out. They absolutely live up to the hype. Stick a penny in there and with no effort it'll crush. Have fun trying to do that with your channel locks. And that mechanical advantage is part of the reason it doesn't round off bolt heads (the other being that the jaws stay parallel due to the design).But... the mechanical advantage comes at a cost: for a lot of motion in the handles, the plier head doesn't close very much. This means you have to set it very close to the actual size of the bolt you're working with. You don't get as much room for sloppy adjustment as you do with other tools like channel locks. And that can be a bit of a pain while you're getting used to these and have to adjust them a few times before you get it right. At this point it's pretty painless and natural for me but I remember that being annoying at the time.

Nothing i didn't like, everything i loved. I have used these ever since i got them and can't believe how many times these pliers came to the rescue. Just the other day i had to hold a nut in a hard to get to area. The wrenches didn't work, sockets didn't work and with this wrench i was able to hold it tight and had zero slippage. I had an off size (metric and sae wrench didn't fit right) tie rod that i had to hold and this wrench came to the rescue. I had about 6 different nuts (all different sizes) on a Oxy Acetylene set that i needed to check for tightness. Instead of grabbing 6 different wrenches this one pair of Pliers worked perfectly with no slippage. They don't leave marring on the nuts or bolts either. love em.

Worthy of being an heirloom tool
12 October 2018

You know how they don't make tools like they used to? Knipex does. This is not your $3 harbor freight checkout aisle adjustable wrench.Yes, these are VERY expensive for a wrench/pliers (they operate like pliers that serve the purpose of an adjustable wrench in the shape of channel locks, lol). However, they are a precision crafted masterpiece of a tool that just works. You can apply real, actual force to the fastener you're working on without galling the s*it out of it like you would with vice grips / channel locks. They're like an adjustable wrench that isn't an utterly frustrating, cheap, POS.Bottom line, while they DON'T generally make tools like they used to, I really do consider these to be a MODERN heirloom tool. I never thought I'd be able to say that.
