Kreg 5mm Shelf Pin Jig

Does the job perfectly. Well thought through and constructed. Keeps the drill bit very perpendicular to the surface. 4 stars on quality down to o ring on locating pin being a tiny bit too big. Which meant the pin was very difficult to seat until a small amount of it sheared off in early use. Once that happened it goes in fine and hold position perfectly well.

AWESOME TOOL

ANYONE can use this if you have a drill. The pin that goes in the top hole makes sure you are exactly evenly spaced. As long as your beginning height is absolutely even, you are set. We drilled front & back holes on one side and place a short piece of board on the shelf pins to make sure we were level front to back. We then did the same for one hoke on the other side to make sure we were level side to side. Then repeated same process for front hole on other side. Once we knew our first holes were level with each other, then we verified for a level shelf. WELL worth the extra time to start. After that it took about 5 minutes total to drill out 4 feet worth of holes on both sides. PIECE OF CAKE!!! Make sure the side of the jig stays flush with the board you are drilling.

Hello, I am Walmart Sparks Reviewer and I will be doing a review on the Kreg Shelf Pin Jig with the 5mm Bit. This jig set comes with an adjustable fence, handy connector, alignment pin, four screws, four pegs and a stop collar.I like this jig because it is easy to use and gives accurate measurements when drilling your holes. It keeps all the holes in perfect alignment one above the other. What I also like best about is that it has six (6) metal holes that are built inside the pin to protect the jig from wear and tear. First off I have to admit I am an amateur hobby builder and have been stalling on a project or two because it involved the adjustable shelf holes. I was considering placing the shelves in a fixed position to avoid drilling holes that didn't line up. The jig allows you to drill up to 6 holes without having to reset the unit and subsequent holes fall right into place by using the enclosed indexing pin. This simple kit comes with everything you need to do a simple but professional looking job. For those craftsmen that plan on many holes, a spare drill bit might be a good thing to keep on hand, but the kit does come with one 5MM bit and collar to start you off. I’m in love with the Shelf Pin Jig! It’s an amazing and perfect tool that makes adding shelf pin holes to furniture easy. I usually have problems with these kinds of things and it usually requires some assistance. My husband takes care of it sometimes as well but it’s just a huge struggle in general and we both wanted something different that could help us. These tools just allow for more precision and accuracy overall, and also make drilling holes super easy! To be honest, I’ve never been more relieved and I know my husband agrees. It’s never been easier to set up furniture and shelves. You can even connect multiple of the shelf pin jigs together with the included jig extended as well for more length! This product is excellent and I enjoyed using it. The built-in fence that also comes in the tool can be removed and can also be transferred to the other side of the jig as well. First off, I would like to say that I never knew a product like this even existed and I honestly could not wait to try this product. My family actually just moved into a new house within the last month. Unfortunately, most of the cabinets did not have any type of shelves installed in them. The cabinets that did have shelves previously installed were actually all shelves with pins. This was just the tool we needed to quickly install new shelves to match our existing shelves. Lacking!

I've been using the Kreg Pocket Hole jig and thought this would be a great additional to my tool set since I'm building a kitchen cart with an adjustable shelf. It's a swing-and-a-miss.There are about a dozen tiny pieces in this set and there is no case for this set like there is for the pocket hole jig. Strike 1.The set comes with a hex-key for tightening the stop collar but Phillips-head screws for connecting to a second set. Strike 2.There are spaces in the back of the jig for housing the drill bit, stop collar, and depth gauge but not for the hex key. Strike 3.Overall, I know this tool will work but with as nice as the pocket hole sets are this one could be packaged with just as much thought and care.

Poor quality and really disappointed with it...

The drill I got with mine was bent and couldn't use it properly so ended up compromising doing the job another way plus I think the frame should be constructed in aluminium instead of plastic. For the price you pay its definitely not value for money. Quite disappointed and created frustration when I found out the drill was bent. Realistically speaking it's garbage and wasn't cheap either.

Splintering on 3/4 plywood!

It is splintering in every single hole on plywood panel! I tried clamping down tight and loose, drilling slow and fast, masking with paint tape, drilling through 1/4" first (funny thing is 1/4 got cleaner holes, 3/4 on the back still got splintering), changing speed setting of drills, changing different drills/drivers. No, it didn't work. It is horrible, these holes are horrible!!!! I couldn't even see a hole after drilling sometimes. It is a disaster! I had to re-drill to smooth the holes a bit after removing the jig, I had to re-sand, re-paint two side panels. I have Kreg Pocket Hole Jig too, I re-checked those Pocket Holes and found the same problems (although a bit less splintering), but pocket holes are meant to be hidden, so it is fine.
