I love this luxurious Serum- Lancome Genefique Ultimate. Using it for a week, my skin responded so well to this high quality concentrated repairing serum. I like Lancome products, especially their make-up. I haven't tried a lot of their skincare so I was really excited to try this as I see it quite a lot. Unfortunately, I didn't see any improvements in fine lines or overall skin texture. I do think my skin feels more hydrated than it did before though. I received a small 7ml tester of the Lancome Genifique Ultimate serum. I tried this serum for a week and overall I did not see a noticeable improvement. Lancome Genifique Ultime is a lovely serum and a welcome addition to my morning and evening skin care routine. I don't cleanse in the AM, going straight into a hydrating mist, topped with this gorgeous serum and followed up with a moisturizing SPF 50. In the evening I double cleanse, hydrating mist, go in first with Lancome Genifique Ultime and follow up with whatever I feel my skin needs on that night. Sometimes that's an active serum or retinol. The beauty of Lancome Genifique Ultimate is that it works incredible well to hydrate, calm and soothe the skin. My skin looks plump and glowing after use, it works beautifully under makeup and equally well at night. I think it would work for all skin types, even sensitive skin and would be brilliant if you have gone too ... The feeling of this serum is very elegant, not sticky or gritty at all and layers beautifully with all other elements of my skin routine. The scent is very light, almost undetectable, just slightly clean if I had to describe it. I would describe Lancome Genifique Ultimate as a medium weight serum because it's not overly runny but its not thick - a little goes a long way as it does spread and apply nicely when applied over a clean, misted base. One dropper is enough for a single application from the classic black bottle. Looks chic on your vanity. Highly recommend and would repurchase.
I was lucky enough to receive a travel size of this serum to trial (thanks BeautyCrew!) Luxe packaging, as you’d expect from Lancôme and easy to use with the dropper. The serum itself is light, clear and applies easily. I didn’t find any stickiness or residue remaining on my skin and I found it had more of a “plumping” effect when I used it on damp skin. My skin felt hydrated and makeup went on nicely afterwards. It really is a lovely serum for any skin type - I still have pretty oily skin, even though I’ve hit 50, and I didn’t find it added to the shine I try to avoid. I have particularly dehydrated skin that has only gone from quite oily to combo/dry in the past couple of years, so I’m trying to find an entirely new skincare routine after using combo/oily products for decades. I really liked the serum’s consistency. It’s not so thin that it dries down before you can blend it onto your skin, so that was a plus. I also liked that it didn’t have much of a scent, as I really dislike heavy fragrance. I tried it with my current Vitamin C serum, which I put on first in my routine, but unfortunately when layering on the Génifique Ultimate it pilled a lot, so I was unable to use it with that product. For the price I’d rather only have to use one anti-aging hydrating serum, but I did like the results of this combination. Plus there was no pilling with these two. It played well when using it alone with my hyaluronic acid-based moisturiser, but again, it didn't do much to alleviate the dry patches, most of the heavy lifting was the moisturiser, so that was also disappointing. I’d loved to have trialled a larger sample so I could get an idea of how well this serum worked for the other things it claimed, as I don’t think a week is really going visibly to reduce fine lines. It wasn’t enough time for my somewhat compromised skin barrier to be noticeably repaired, either. I do have issues with redness and noticed my skin *was* less red after using Génifique Ultimate, which I was really happy about, as very few products I’ve tried help with redness. All in all this is a product I would have liked to get to know more so I could make a more informed decision on whether I’d like to purchase it in the future. As Lancôme products can be on the pricier side, it might not have made enough of an impression in the short time I used it to get me to fork out what I imagine will be upwards of $175. Having said that, I do believe it to be a quality product, and for those who are willing to take a gamble it could definitely be a great product. I would like to have given this product a higher rating, but for the amount of product I had and the limited time to trial it, I can’t give more as I didn’t see what you might see with longer use.
