We got this set as a birthday present for our son who is 7, knowing this would be a challenging set we could all contribute to (starting age is 14+). The building experience as a family has been very enjoyable and the end result is amazing, while building this Ferrari we all thought about the creators and designers at Lego who worked on this set, a very well thought one. Our son was so proud to be part of a big Lego project with all his family! He knows that his Lego Ferrari is now a show piece and not a playing item and we hope he will cherish it for many years to come. If you are looking for a well made, long lasting Lego project this is the one and of course this set will make any Ferrari or car lover happy!

First, I want to be CLEAR. This is NOT a "dig" at, nor is it the seller's fault. LEGO is known to have "issues" with some pieces cracking and/or breaking over time. This is especially true for certain pieces and/or colors. I just want to make it more known, if you are buying used pieces and kits, this can happen. From what I've heard when speaking with the LEGO company, it can happen if the model is subjected to heat/cold, some cleaning chemicals and U/V deterioration of the plastics ...also, some were poorly designed, imho, but LEGO won't admit that! They do, however, kind of inadvertently admit it, because many of these "problem pieces" have been redesigned/updated. haha Now, on to the F40! I do intend to replace them though, next time I get on bricklink to make an order. ;D After completely disassembling the model, carefully cleaning the parts (luke warm water and MILD soap, ladies and gents!), and removing (very carefully with a fresh x-acto blade) and repositioning a few of the stickers that had been put on "crooked/off center", I was pleasantly treated to a BEAUTIFUL LEGO F40 for my shelf! Finally!!! Shown in the pics are a few examples of the broken parts I received, along with the finished build next to a minifig and a 1:18 scale F40 for size comparison. Here is a list of parts which were cracked/broken, in case anyone wants to know: 7x 306921 (1x2 red tile) 3x 306926 (1x2 black tile) 6x 4211052 (1x2 dark bluish grey tile) 1x 4556158 (Modified 1x2 plate black/ O-clip variant) 4x 4565323 (Modified 2x2 plate w/ center stud black) 5x 4650260 (1x1 Round tile light-bluish gray) Also, the pieces to build the bonnet prop-rod were missing... Probably easy to miss as it does not physically attach to the model. Also, missing 2 or 3 random parts... Another thing I can't and do not blame the seller for, as they acquired the model used, and probably didn't know or notice.

Lego is a timeless toy for all ages and designs have become increasingly clever and detailed in recent years. The instructions for this kit are clear as always and the build was fun - the designers do a great job of applying pieces in creative ways to create a wonderful product with great visual appeal. The charm in the build, is in guessing and marveling how all the pieces will come together in the end. This car features opening hood and trunk, with a very detailed engine. Opening doors, tilting steering wheel and seats and pop up headlights. Just the right amount of detail for a realistic look. Great kit that presents very nicely on a shelf and pays tribute to Ferrari.
Light kit is great., my issue is it was a bit fiddle to get the contacts into the parts as they are quite tiny and having lego parts clamp onto the wire is a bit heardbreaking . but gladly it all works perfectly for future project i would love to see a"smaller " battery box, its way to big, like i understand why but having one maybe inside the rear where engine is or interior would be better as its big and have to be hidden, just glad it has a long wire.
The iconic f40, the way a super car should be , raw and fast, not like today's fancy delicate with touch screen this and Bluetooth that !! Cars suck now days that's why I got this build . I will buy another to make it all black like the gas monkey f40. Happy building ! Oh and it retires end of this year , get it now before you have to pay way more. Once gone this f40 will not return , lego will be making a 256 gta which will completment this car. Start your collection , don't miss on this iconic car . Better then just pulling out a die cast model and putting on your shelf.
Second set i bought and probably the last one i'm buying... 4 LEDs were dead on reception. Was able to fix one (i'm certified in micro-soldering, it helped). Contacted support and now waiting for the replacement parts for the still 3 dead LEDs. Again, not all LEGO parts were used to make light set and no physical instructions. Guess this will be the end of me with GoB...
The build on this F40 must have taken forever to design because the way the subassemblies fit together is remarkable and unexpected. The model looks fantastic and manages to capture even small details of the real Ferrari F40. It look fantastic on display!
What a great lego copy of this ultimate ferrari! Great details and quite straight forward. Some parts are a little complicated so should be purchased for the more advanced builders out there. I cannot get over how amazing this looks. It will be on my shelf display for a very long time.
