Bought this for my 9yr old son as he is really getting into Lego Technic.He was so excited to start the build and to be honest he completed it all by himself, he planned out his build time over the Christmas school break and allowed himself an hour or so per day. He loved it and it literally kept him quiet for a few days.The legs aren't the sturdiest but the over all general look of the build is good and to my son it looks totally amazing, (his words). All the gears and winding cogs work as they should, it's quite sturdy and he loves playing with it.Based on our/his experience I would deffinitely reccomend this product.

Been a Lego collector over 45 years. Disappointed in this set to say the least. Not realistic like other sets. This one will go into the parts bin. As compared to other lego cranes, this model falls shirt of expectation.

This set is quite large when fully unfolded and extended and has a lot of functions for play value. Also, it folds up very neatly, which means it is easy to store if space is an issue. Overall, the set is good value for money, as you get a lot oof pieces for the price and would recommend to fans of construction equipment and Lego in general.
During the process I thought it was great I kept wondering where prices would go and as I got to the end I started to under stand how everything worked. Ever since I finished it I haven’t put it down extending it retracting it. It is a great display piece aswell if you like cranes. My next build probably be the land rover or car transporter
Great smaller set to kill time that my 3 year old who is a crane fanatic cannot leave it alone.Boom detail and functionality is great, however undercarriage feel as though it is lacking. Also scale between boom and undercarriage feels off when set is retracted in travel position.For those that note that the boom cannot rotate without hitting the outriggers. There is a catch, the base of the boom pivots at the slew. This needs to be adjusted forward in order to prevent fouling during boom rotation. (See picture)Will say it is a great array of parts for future MOCS and for the price I believe it represents value for money.
It had been awhile since I last purchased and built LEGO Technic and I really enjoyed this set, the build and working functions.Plenty of new pieces to build the crane boom, tracked base unit and four outrigger stabilising legs.Crane boom turns through 270 degrees, can be raised to about 60 degrees, the boom extends and there is another jig that folds out to extend further.The four outrigger stabilising legs turn through 180 degrees, can be raised and lowered, with the feet being able to be extend out.The crane hook can be wound/unwound to raise and lower. There is a locking mechanism to stop unwinding when under load.The base unit has tracks either side and these allow the crane to move easily. There is a control panel (graphic) that flips out.
I purchased this as a reward for my son who is on the autistic spectrum (and to push his LEGO skills a step further) . Overall the build was challenging enough and he worked solidly engaged with it and had it completed in about nine hours with almost no assistance whatsoever. Instructions were excellent. It serves as a good stepping stone onto motorised and programmable kits. It was also very well priced by Smyths at 50 GBP.
A clever design, however functionality is lacking. Gears that control the Stabilizer legs are loosely mounted, and the legs have slack movement in them. Also there is very little pressure on the legs when fully extended. Most disappointing is the boom which must be adjusted to a very limited height range in order to rotate 180 degrees. Otherwise the stabilizer legs interfere and prevent rotation of the boom. I am quite disappointed with this set.

My wife knew I was just getting into technic and surprised me with this.The build, at times, was a bit repetitive, but that is not the fault of the designer as the real thing actually has four legs that are built nearly identical.The build experience was enjoyable. One of the things I really enjoyed was how it is built in the compact form and then, at the end, you unfold everything for the first time and really get a sense of how big this model is.
