An excellent redesign of an iconic original trilogy vehicle. The last release of a playable AT-ST was in 2007 I believe, but this model is well worth the wait. The attention to detail is fantastic, such as the handrails on the top, the well-proportioned side weapons, and the bars on the back of the legs. Additionally, all the mini figures are well designed and great inclusions in the set.The walker is remarkably stable. The AT-ST as a vehicle is notoriously top-heavy, not helped by its spindly legs, which make it a challenge to render in LEGO. However, this set is seriously solid, and doesn't tip easily. My only complaint is that there isn't space for two drivers (pilots?), however this is an easy thing to ignore given the level of detail, considered design, and ... MoreAn excellent redesign of an iconic original trilogy vehicle. There is a great tradition in Lego Star Wars of excellent design and engineering, and this set is no exception. It is hard to believe that all that structure sits upon those thin long legs and yet it is stable AND posable. The only compromise is that the legs have just one point of articulation. It would have been nice to be able to move the feet.I bought this set to go with my Ewok Village. The best thing about Rogue One is the Lego sets... and especially because they are such great updated designs of vehicles that also star in the canonical series. My recommendations below are the best of the recent sets that I have built so far. Each has amazing engineering, especially the Y-Wing. And they all look great.

First off, I really like this set! For anyone who likes the Star Wars walkers (AT-ST, AT-AT, etc.), the AT-ST has been lacking for some time. In my opinion, (not including the UCS AT-ST) I thought the AT-ST #7657 was probably the best one to date followed by the AT-ST included with the Battle of Endor #8038. This one #75153 looks like a mini version of the UCS AT-ST #10174 and looks great. In addition to a review of AT-ST Walker #75153, I’ll compare it with the previous AT-ST #7657, which I also own.First the minifigures:Blaze Malbus – great looking character! Head has two faces – attack and panic looks. Great printing on front and back of his torso and the front of his legs – very unique to this minifigure. Weapon arm is red while the other matches the torso and leg colors. The weapon is pretty cool.Rebel Trooper – Great Character. First, yes there are rebel troopers in at least three of the newly released Star Wars LEGO sets. However, each is unique in different ways. On this one the torso printing looks great on both front and back and is similar to all three. However, this one looks like a dark grey vs light grey for the other sets. I could be wrong as I’m only comparing pictures but that is how it looks to me.The head only has one face but it is a dark brown, again unlike the other two. (Nice of LEGO to continue adding some diversity to the minifigure lineup). The legs also have printing on the front (belt and pockets) but again, the legs are dark brown. However, they are such a dark brown that you can’t see the black printing for the pockets unless you look at it just right in the light. The helmet is also a great touch, excellent detail. Again, it seems darker in color than the pics for the other sets.As a side note; this rebel trooper has tan arms and dark brown hands (matching the face) while the others have arms that match the color of their torso.AT-ST driver – Two faces, which I’ll call mad and evil grin. The torso has great printing front and back as do the front of the legs. At first glance this doesn’t look much different than the driver for 7657 but it is. Not only is the torso printing different, the real jewel is his helmet. In 7657 the AT-ST driver had two faces, one of which has goggles. In this new set, the goggles are part of the helmet with a little white reflection from the sun.Overview:The build is fun – three bags (platform and legs – interior head – exterior head). The legs are very sturdy and have a ratcheting feature for positioning the legs. (More on that later.) The head mounts very similar to 7657 and turns similarly using dial on the back, but is now ratcheting like the legs and turns a full 360 degrees, unlike 7657. But if you position the head and then try to move the AT-ST, the head no longer flops around as it did with 7657.The head finally looks like the AT-STs of the movies with a narrowing, downward angle appearance. The cockpit is well built, although as should be expected for a build of this size, still for only one minifigure. HOWEVER, you can finally get your hand inside the head to place a minifigure in the driver seat by opening the entire top of the head. Additionally, LEGO gave us a working “hatch” so you can still have Chewy or whoever pull the driver out and toss him to the ground. The guns mounted on the bottom of the head move freely and LEGO has added two spring-loaded shooters, firing red bolts. There are two “push-buttons,” one on each side (bottom rear,) to fire the spring-loaded shooters – very nice!Criticism:First off, for years fans have been calling upon LEGO to build an AT-ST that can be posed. And in every photo of this walker (75153) including both the front AND back of the box, this new one is shown with a leg “posed.” It is true that the legs will lock (ratchet) in a posable position. HOWEVER, it will not stand on a flat surface in a “posed walking” position because the toe of the moved leg protrudes too far. The only way I can get it to stand is with both feet flat. If the feet had been given some sort of ratcheting ability, I think it could be accomplished. The only other criticism I really have about this set, and this is going to sound petty, is its size. As you’ll see from the pictures below, 1) this set looks great, 2) at +205 pieces it is larger (evidenced in the pics), and 3) it is not on the same scale as the AT-AT… bummer!I have to admit, I set my AT-ST #7657 next to it and instantly was surprised at how much larger it was. I then set my AT-AT #8129 next to it and was bummed just how much larger it is. A personal thought… the Rouge One movie has AT-ATs. I wonder; is LEGO preparing to reissue yet another AT-AT but at a scale similar to this new AT-ST #75153. Hmmm…Comparison:In the pictures below I’m using AT-ST Walker #75153 (2016), AT-ST #7657 (2007), and AT-AT Walker #8129 (2010).75153 AT-ST Walker: 449 pieces, 3 minifigures and sells for $40 on Sept. 30, 2016.7657 AT-ST: 244 pieces, 1 minifigure and originally sold for $20 in 2007.Conclusion:I am impressed that this set has 205 (46%) more pieces than AT-ST #7657. Of course, the Malbus minifigure with weapon accounts for 14 pieces alone. Just saying…There are a lot of pieces used to form the interior and base of the head, but the way the head fits together and looks is great! From the outside, the look is iconic. It is a very playable set, able to position the legs and head without them flopping around. AND even adults can get their hands inside the head to place a minifigure in the driver seat! The set has 8 stickers (no printed pieces) and they were all easy to apply.- If you’re looking for a great play set, this will work.- If you’re looking for a display piece, this looks great! However, you will have to watch what you’re putting it with as its scale is out-of-proportion with previous walkers and play sets. I.E. This AT-ST Walker is as tall as the shorter trees in the Ewok Village #10236.- If you’re collecting minifigures, again, this is a great set; all three are winners in my opinion.Personally, even with it being out-of-proportion to other walkers, I love this set! My kids instantly loved it and even commented how much better it looked than previous AT-ST models.Hope this review was helpful.

I saw Rogue One the day it came out with low expectations that were blown away. I have loved Lego Star Wars for a long time and try to buy sets whenever I earn enough money to. Some symbolic sets I lack are the AT-AT, the x-wing, and the AT-ST. As soon as I had seen Rogue One I immediately sought out the Lego sets for the movie. The AT-ST is one of the best sets in my collection, I didn't expect it. The shape, the features... everything is amazing. I honestly couldn't ask for much of a better set. If I had to look for flaws, I would say the maybe more detail could have been added to the legs and other areas but I am more than content with this set. My only problem that makes sense is the legs. It's kind of hard to move them but it's fine the way it is, though I ... MoreI saw Rogue One the day it came out with low expectations that were blown away. It's kind of hard to move them but it's fine the way it is, though I would make moving the legs a bit more easy. That is just a minor problem though, and the AT-ST looks amazing, with the features working very smooth. The minifies are absolutely amazing as well; Baze is a personal favorite. I would give this set 9.5/10. No set is perfect, but this one comes pretty close. The price is very good per piece and especially since this set is large for the price. Bravo Lego! I am now convinced that I need to get a few more sets from rogue one that come out January 1st. I bought the AT-ST with the U-Wing, and the Hovertank both of the those also great sets. I am hoping to buy the Battle on Scarif set as well as some of the battle packs. The new A-Wing looks fabulous as well and I can finally get my Lando minifig! Wish I had more money because all of the other sets look fantastic as well! Keep up the great work Lego!
I really like this set. Aside from the UCS AT-ST, this set is one of the best representations of the AT-ST to date. Its a nice size, well designed for play, durability and looks fantastic next to the AT-AT from 2014 however they are not to scale (see pic). Some nice features include two blasters which shoot out two red missiles, a top hatch and easy to lift up lid to place and remove the driver and a very cool rotating head which is controlled by a well designed knob at the back of the AT-ST. My only ask of Lego is to avoid using stickers and use printed pieces, especially for Star Wars sets which include the Star Wars tax. The purist in me was initially turned off by the inclusion of Baze and the Rebel Trooper (Disney scums!), but they had the model on display in the store and aside from those two, it is a near-perfect likeness of the walker from the original trilogy. The model is scaled maybe approximately half-size to the miniatures. The cockpit only fits one, though from the outside it appears wide enough to house a Wookie and a couple of Ewoks. The proportions of the head are a bit off--it's fatter than it should be--and the feet are much too large (balance requirements I would guess) but this model is instantly recognizable for what it is. The size and detail make it look really cool, and I could see it fitting in well with the Hoth UCS set, an Endor-themed display, or a Scarif diorama. It would need to be at least twice its size to look movie-appropriate next to the UCS snowspeeder. Built as-is, it will only stand with both legs in the same position, but with the use of a large base plate you could pose it. I would have liked either one more articulated joint in the legs and/or to have the entire head/torso be able to swivel up and down, but would not have expected to see that at the set's current price point. What I could not see is actually playing with it. While not delicate, it is not exactly sturdy either. It is precariously balanced and tips backwards easily. Moving the head up and down to "aim" the shoot-able lasers requires reposition at the leg joint, and due to the limitations of the build you can't aim down more than about 15°. This all makes the shoot-able laser beams feel somewhat gimmicky, like the designer made a perfectly good display piece and someone said "add some shooty lasers so we can say it's playable!"However, I purchased this for display, and for that purpose I can just leave the laser beams in the box. It is the perfect size for the shelf, TV stand, or use as a large desk ornament.
Pros:The walker is neat, accurate and to scale with other imperial vehicles. The rebel soldier minifigThe AT-ST driver minifig.Bazes facial printing.Cons:This set is too expensive for what you get.A couple of stormtrooper minifigs, extra rebel soldiers, or an alien civilian of Jedha should have been included. The walkers feet cant be positioned.Baze should have Tasu Leach's hairpiece from set 75105 as its more accurate. He should also have a specially made battery-backpack/neck armour piece in 1 that slots on to the torso like the galaxy squad minifig.Jedha scenery/rubble should be included and be a functional play element.Saw Gerrrera could be included. Not much else to comment about on this set as theres not much there.
This set is amazing! I am very imperest with this model. This AT-ST is the first AT that I got. The modeling on it is amazing! I love the characters. The AT-ST pilot with two faces, rebel trooper with one face ( that I think the character is pretty much useless) and Baze Malbus with two faces ( I think his gun is too big, but I know that it is the best they could do). I like that you can move a little the legs, rotate "the head" and shoot spring loaded darts. Some things would need be fixed thought and it that you can only fit one character inside, and you see in Return of The Jedi on Endor is that there is two seats and two pilots sitting inside. There is also another mistake and it is that the thing cannot advance the legs are just stable! You can do a little ... MoreThis set is amazing! You can do a little changing like I did, so then after you can move longest part of the legs, then there is no way that you can move the foot at all. Maybe you can take pieces from your other Lego creations, to make the foot move. If you do that you really think the legs should be changed. Overall this is very good!
First of all, the minifigures are great. And the AT-ST itself looks superb once built. However there are a couple of fairly major flaws.- the legs aren't posable. I suppose this is because it's already top-heavy, but a little movement would have been nice.- the model is not only top-heavy but front-heavy. Although the legs are stiff, the hip joints are not, which combined with the front weight means that the slightest little tap causes it to topple over. Admittedly this makes it realistic to the Star Wars univers but makes for a poor display piece. I've had to use some blue-tack to stop the thing from crashing over every time someone walks near the table.Overall not a terrible purchase but could have been better.
Having never owned an AT-ST model in my life, I was very excited to see this iconic walker back in Lego form. It was not seen much in the Rogue One film, but the AT-ST has had enough time in the other films to be iconic anyways. The walker is very well detailed. While building, I found myself wondering exactly how the walker would come together, only to happily complete it. The head/cockpit of the walker can swivel completely around, and the guns are maneuverable. The "eyebrows" can also be adjusted. The minifigures are great, as they have been lately. Baze looks wonderful, and very accurate, and his big gun is spot on. The trooper is nice as well. In the film, I believe this specific trooper has a name, but I cannot remember it. And the pilot is good as well. The goggles are no longer on the head itself, which looked unappealing in previous models.Sadly, as great as the set is, it is not without some problems. The legs cannot be moved forward, only backwards, which hurts the play experience. That is the only gripe from a wonderful set.The AT-ST Walker is a great set. It looks good, the minifigs are good, and works good. As a last moment side note, the value is great, given the $39.99 price, and the 449 peices.A great value for any Star Wars fan, and a must have!
