As other reviewers have mentioned. 1) IPS screen is pretty good and bright, but washed out looking. 2) Battery life is nowhere near what they claim. I would say 12hrs is going to be the max you will get even idling along. Doing other tasks, it drains pretty quick. 3) Why such a garbage 1080p camera? Biggest complaint that makes this an instant NO-GO for my company. 4) Track pads??? Why don't they all have magnetic/haptic touchpads today? Cameras and touchpads can't add but what, $20-40 dollars to the price??? Willing to pay the extra money for these features. Lastly) Lenovo Bloatware everywhere, services for their whacky fn/key mappings, disable that in the services, uninstall other garbage McAfee stuff, ads popping up. No thanks Lenovo. Moving on. Too much work to clean this thing up for a company with many users to get it ready for deployment.Positives: 1) It does run cooler since it has less cores, at a lower wattage. But multi core scores do suffer compared to Qualcomm and well, even the Ultra 1 of course. Still snappy. 2) Runs quiet even when fans are on and pretty cool under normal loads. 3) Appreciate all the ports, including an HDMI and camera switch along with 2 TB4 and USB A, mic jack. Many like Dell/MS Surface have just 2-3 USBC and that is all.Nice try Lenovo...but I'm baffled by all of the horrible decisions and lack of ports, features and common things you find in even a low end Macbook Air and Pro at not much more money. We need Apple hardware for Windows X64 architecture...and not ARM. Qualcomm is nowhere near ready for primetime, I've tested them all, they are unusable, like a Chromebook IMO.

But why dost thou not have a proper touchpad?!

Seriously perfect computer with one massive flaw: the touchpad. Just give us the haptic and some nice glass, a smooth and responsive experience, and it’s over for apple. So close. Yet still, so far away. I make do with an accessory mouse but what a pain.

Could be better but poor product decisions ruin it
28 September 2024

I primarily chose this laptop over other Lunar Lake laptops because of the IPS screen and its potential for much longer battery life compared to the OLED based screens. Every other Lunar Lake laptop that's coming out now has OLED screens. But Lenovo put a mid-range IPS screen with no anti-reflection coating leading to distracting glare that makes me wish I had picked up an OLED screen laptop. Anti-reflection coating on Dell, Asus, HP are so good. Look at IPS screens on iPads, even the cheap ones and you will see it's not only OLED that can have good anti-reflection coating. This is a product decision that's going to hurt its sales, when this device is meant for productivity. On a positive note, battery life seems good, but not as extraordinary as the earlier ... MoreI primarily chose this laptop over other Lunar Lake laptops because of the IPS screen and its potential for much longer battery life compared to the OLED based screens. Anti-reflection coating on Dell, Asus, HP are so good. Look at IPS screens on iPads, even the cheap ones and you will see it's not only OLED that can have good anti-reflection coating. This is a product decision that's going to hurt its sales, when this device is meant for productivity. On a positive note, battery life seems good, but not as extraordinary as the earlier pre-release reviews seemed to indicate. Intel 10th generation laptops had as good if not better battery life with similar sized workloads and same battery capacity of 70Whr, so not sure what gives. Granted, Intel 11th, 12th, 13th and meteor lake gen did sacrifice battery life in their chase for extracting more performance, but Lunar Lake was supposed to be for most efficiency meant for thin and light. Also, Asus is fitting 72 and 75 Whr batteries in their 14" laptop so Lenovo could have easily fit in a much larger battery here but decided not to for some reason. Again, bone-headed decisions that make no sense. Also, the trackpad is slightly off-center and its annoying to look at. There is no Number pad here, so why not center it?I would love to hear from the Product Manager for this laptop to understand their thinking. It's almost like they are trying to make things worse here on purpose so they can save the better design decisions and better parts for their 9i range of laptops. As things are looking right now, I may not keep this laptop and wait for a better Lunar Lake laptop.

Intel is the Competition
30 September 2024

Received the new Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition on Friday, September 27. Was unable to setup until Saturday.I currently use the Microsoft Surface Laptop with the Qualcomm Elite processor. The new Intel Core Ultra 7 Second Edition is a worthy competitor to the Elite.
