Awful

I've been a loyal Lipton tea consumer forever. Love(d) iced tea brewed in my coffee maker . The world was great. Can't find the loose tea so I thought I'd try the gallon size bags. Let me say- this is the worst tea I've ever made or experienced. It looked like muddy water, literally. I couldnt drink it. Dumped it down the drain. I used 1 bag. Trashing the rest. What happened to your tea? Why cant I find the loose tea? And if/when I do find it, am I going to be sadly disappointed again? I think I'm going to shop the tea brands to see if I can find something comparable or reasonably close to what lipton USED to be, in case I AM disappointed again. Like I said, been loyal To Lipton for decades, havent deviated. I'm rethinking that now. Sad.

Definitely sub-par

I usually love these cold-brew bags. You can make a 32-40 ounce glass of iced tea, with one bag, in mere minutes. When I haven’t had a chance to make a proper pitcher of iced tea, 5 of these makes a strong gallon. But the pitcher I made with these bags was not just bad… it was nasty-bad! It smelled dusty and it tasted like very weak mint and sour at the same time. I had to pour it down the drain. I made a second pitcher with the same result. A family member smelled the dry tea and said it was “nasty” and “like dirt.” We threw those away and tested a second box (I’d bought three.) with the same nasty results. I was so let-down and so (yes!) angry. I threw all the remaining teabags in the garbage. So perhaps it’s better to buy in the store….

Safe or Not?

This review is directed towards Walmart and not the product.Since the Walmart stores don’t seem to stock much or are constantly out of product, I had to order.Lipton ICE tea! It’s 97 degree outside and it’s the 4th of July holidays.COME ON WALMART!Lipton ice tea packaging is ALWAYS sold in individual sealed boxes. For freshness and I suppose oh I don’t know, SAFETY!!I received six non sealed boxes of tea in a cardboard shipping box with some bubble wrap. Wow! Now that’s fresh and safe to consume.There was enough tea in the shipping box alone to make a couple glasses of tea.Walmart is not the only game in town.

Trial and Error

Been using the regular and family size teabags for about 50 years and accidentally picked up the one gallon size recently.I read the directions and made accordingly but it was much to weak and not sweet enough. Unfortunately I microwaved too long and the bad busted. Fifteen minutes is too long, twelve is okay, but I found out ten is best, maybe eight minutes.It was still too weak so I boiled the remaining two quarts with the same teabags and it to was too weak.Next attempt I used two one-gallon bags and doubled-boiled them for the full gallon instead of boiling two quarts and adding two quarts water. After adding two cups sugar instead of 1-1/4 cups it tasted perfect. The two cups of sugar and pinch of baking soda really with their magic keeping the bitterness at bay but I prefer the previous version with two one-gallon teabags.I’ll be going back to the family-size once I run out of one-gallon bags due to personal preference and I like being able to tie-off the bags so they stay in one place. The stringless bags would be perfect in a tea maker pot.I wonder if I have to double-up the family-size bags to get the same flavor since it tastes like the tea has changed.
