To start out, I grabbed this alternative because there were no regular Lipton tea boxes. I thought there wouldn’t be much of a difference. The box does not specifically state that it is already sweetened in a place where you can easily see this. I made half a gallon just to taste it and see if I liked it. It wasn’t until after I started making it and did some research that I learned it was artificially sweetened. I gave it a shot on its own, it was not very good in my opinion but I like my tea sweet so this was no surprise. I added little bits of sugar at a time to see how much it needed and ended up putting a cup of sugar into it. In the end, it was okay. I don’t like the feeling of the artificial sweetener in my mouth when I drink it but you can’t taste it much after you add real sugar. It just has a funny texture. Overall, I wouldn’t buy again and probably won’t use the rest of the box but if you like lightly sweetened tea and don’t mind an artificial sweetener, this is a good product for you. Just didn’t fit right with me.
I have been purchasing the southern sweet tea product for several years now but recently it seems that there’s not as much product in the packaging of each teabag. I have to use more of the product to achieve the same result of prepared pitcher of tea. When I compared to the Lipton family size teabags that are unsweetened it’s almost half the product as the unsweetened. I will no longer be purchasing this product in the future.
What bad idea will food companies come out with next? This product was likely substituted for regular tea in an order for delivery; it was then removed from its box and placed in a canister, where I found it. I kept trying to make hot tea with it, knowing that a large cup would require a teaspoon or more of sugar, and I kept being surprised that the result was way too sweet, until I finally noticed "Southern Sweet Tea" on the label. I can't find a nutritional statement and Lipton fails to disclose the sweetening agent under "Full Characteristics" (that assertion being an outright lie) -- very deliberate, of course. Lipton Tea is of low quality and I'll avoid it from here on out; I've always known that it didn't begin to compare with Twinings. Nasty!
I am a long time 6 decades long Lipton Black Tea drinker, and never once before have I ever found presweetened tea bags from Lipton. On top of that I do not like that the sweetener is one of those zero calorie sweeteners, nor do I like how much the tea has been sweetened. I know that in the South of the US most Lipton tea makers use the equivalent of 2 to 3 cups of sugar per gallon, but I and my family have always used only one cup. Those artificial sweeteners are not natural, and in most cases are cancer causing. So when I went to the grocery store looking to buy tea bags for brewing my tea, I had no knowledge that there is a sweetened version now. In all of my life I never found any teabags by Lipton that were presweetened. So when I went to the grocery store looking to buy tea bags for brewing my tea, I had no knowledge that there is a sweetened version now. In all of my life I never found any teabags by Lipton that were presweetened. The sweetness of this tea is overwhelming to my palate, and I cannot trust any artificial sweetener, so count this as a strong bad review from me. As it happens, I now have to be careful that what I buy is not the sweetened kind, That means taking the time to look at the box to see what kind it is. I like Lipton's Black tea best, but not the presweetened kind. Why have I not seen any advertisements concerning this new type of tea bag? Why is the information not readily available, with the public having to look for it instead. Makes my trust in Lipton waver; which I never thought would happen.
I grew up in the South drinking sweet tea. About 4 years ago I learned I had diabetes and had to give up my tea. There is nothing worse in the world than not having anything else that lives up to the taste of tea. Fortunately some friends of mine told me about the southern sweet tea zero calorie and I love it. I have bought it in all sides of tea bags and even in the instant powder. I do find it it is getting harder and harder to locate in the middle of my location but I do wish that you would advertise this so maybe more people would buy it so it would stay on the shelves
Picture of the box of tea in the ad, does not match the description of size of tea bags. Picture shows "Gallon" size and this is what I thought I was ordering. I didn't catch the "Family" size in the written description, until I had ordered the product. It is impossible to contact the GTD. I have tried multiple times from Walmart account where it says "Contact Seller" . It always says, "Sorry, we're having technical issues, try again later" . I would give "0" stars.
these teabags are great. There is no excuse for why the price fluctuates from two dollars a box up to over four dollars a box. there is no reason on this entire earth that one box of teabags should be priced over four dollars. When it is normally two dollars. Why are you price gouging? Every couple weeks this happens and it goes out of stock and you jack up the price.
