I was shocked when I opened this and found out this is more for larger machines. I didn't read the product description properly and was expecting individually wrapped small servings. Anyhow, to prepare this, I just boil water, pour it over the largest mug I have with this and just let it Steep for a few minutes. Pour it to my pitcher and just add ice water. Tastes great and now I only need to prepare tea twice a week. This will last me a few months and less waste and prep time overall. Great value.

These tea bags are a great product. My wife and I like our tea a little stronger than some folks, so we use a gallon bag in a half gallon jar. We let it brew overnight in the refrigerator or, weather permitting, make sun tea on the deck. Either way, the fresh brewed tea is delicious, and these two packs of gallon tea bags is a great value.
Lipton makes a great tea for iced tea. Don't waste your money on specialty teas for cold tea. Their flavors are off for this purpose. The one gallon sized bags are perfect for tea and after experimentation I have come to the conclusion that the best way to make it is to bring a little over a quart of water to boil in a sauce pan. Then turn off the burner and let the water cool for a couple minutes. This eliminates the bitter flavors that can come out of the tea if brewed at boiling. I see this mistake often and it just makes a bitter mess. Then, throw in a bag and let it brew for about 3 to 4.5 minutes depending if you want a little more or less flavor. Whatever you do, don't go more than about 5 minutes or you'll get that bitter flavor again.Once done, mix in about a ... MoreLipton makes a great tea for iced tea. Whatever you do, don't go more than about 5 minutes or you'll get that bitter flavor again.Once done, mix in about a cup and an extra tablespoon or two of sugar. A cup is just a little less sweet than perfect. The extra tablespoon is just right but too much more is syrup. If you want a lower calorie but great tasting brew, use half a cup and drop in some EasySweet or some other liquid artifical sweetener. You can mix that in a gallon sized container with ice and have ready to drink tea, but not having an ice maker, I do the following. Once the sugar is dissolved (while it is hot) let the tea rest uncovered for 15-30 minutes to let the temperature come down. This means it will drop from about 190F to 130 or so. Mix that with 2.5-3 quarts cold filtered water from your 40F or less refrigerator. This will lower the temperature to around 65F and cold enough to be enjoyable, especially on a hot day. This method can also save ice as you can simply put a cube or two in a glass to get that chilled tea. You can also just put it in the refrigerator a little of you want it cooler.
I live in GA and I have had iced tea my entire life. Tea flavor varies just as much as bottled water flavor - some folks notice it more than others. But when tea is almost exclusively what you drink, you definitely notice a difference in flavor. I love Lipton tea, and when making iced tea, this is absolutely my go-to. 2 of these family sized bags in the electric kettle, let it brew after it reaches temp, then pour into serving container with whatever sweetener you prefer, then top the container off with water - stir, refrigerate, then enjoy. Perfect every time!
I've been a loyal Lipton tea consumer forever. Love(d) iced tea brewed in my coffee maker . The world was great. Can't find the loose tea so I thought I'd try the gallon size bags. Let me say- this is the worst tea I've ever made or experienced. It looked like muddy water, literally. I couldnt drink it. Dumped it down the drain. I used 1 bag. Trashing the rest. What happened to your tea? Why cant I find the loose tea? And if/when I do find it, am I going to be sadly disappointed again? I think I'm going to shop the tea brands to see if I can find something comparable or reasonably close to what lipton USED to be, in case I AM disappointed again. Like I said, been loyal To Lipton for decades, havent deviated. I'm rethinking that now. Sad.
We were unable to find any regular size tea bags at our local stores. Lipton is the traditional favorite of our family and all my mom will make. I seen that Sam's had these so I purchased them. They will definitely last for a while. The make a gallon of tea. Thank goodness I have a gallon tea pitcher. Delicious every time. The bags are the size of a quarter piece of fabric and filled with probably 4 of the family size tea bags amount of tea.
I have enjoyed fresh brewed Lipton ice tea for as long as I can remember. I am 75 years old.As a child we used loose tea leaves and brewed fresh tea every evening for our dinner meal. There was always a pitcher of Tea in our refrigerator to get us through until the next evening meal.Mother insisted on LIPTON TEA!As an adult, I gradually moved from loose tea to tea bags & always insist upon Lipton tea.I regularly purchase the package of 48 one gallon tea bags. I desire the taste of strong brewed tea therefore I was never able to make a full gallon of tea using only one tea bag.THEN...along comes the NEW PACKAGING.I am supposed to be convinced the small tea bags make the same amount of brewed tea.Words cannot express my disappointment.I used one tea ... MoreI have enjoyed fresh brewed Lipton ice tea for as long as I can remember. The "tea" is little more than murky water. Why should I continue paying for a product with very little, if any at all, flavor or taste.I am not sure how many consumers will make the effort to contact you; but why should anyone continue to purchase your product as a premium tea when it has little or any flavor and definitely does not provide any benefit over a much less expensive product.I VERY MUCH hope you will reconsider the amount of tea used for a gallon sized pitcher of tea or I may cease to drink tea at all.
Been using the regular and family size teabags for about 50 years and accidentally picked up the one gallon size recently.I read the directions and made accordingly but it was much to weak and not sweet enough. Unfortunately I microwaved too long and the bad busted. Fifteen minutes is too long, twelve is okay, but I found out ten is best, maybe eight minutes. It was still too weak so I boiled the remaining two quarts with the same teabags and it to was too weak.Next attempt I used two one-gallon bags and doubled-boiled them for the full gallon instead of boiling two quarts and adding two quarts water. After adding two cups sugar instead of 1-1/4 cups it tasted perfect. I also added a pinch of baking soda to eliminate the bitterness.I was feeling experimental ... MoreBeen using the regular and family size teabags for about 50 years and accidentally picked up the one gallon size recently.I read the directions and made accordingly but it was much to weak and not sweet enough. The two cups of sugar and pinch of baking soda really with their magic keeping the bitterness at bay but I prefer the previous version with two one-gallon teabags.I’ll be going back to the family-size once I run out of one-gallon bags due to personal preference and I like being able to tie-off the bags so they stay in one place. The stringless bags would be perfect in a tea maker pot.I wonder if I have to double-up the family-size bags to get the same flavor since it tastes like the tea has changed.
