Best dry shampoo ever, horrible customer service

I bought a jumbo bottle of the living proof dry shampoo. I love this dry shampoo, it honestly works better than any other dry shampoo I have used. It smells great and gives nice volume. It also seems to work for days, which is very convenient. However, on my last order, one of the caps of the dry shampoo bottle cracked and the entire bottle was emptied in shipping before I even opened it. I have tried several times to get in contact with them to get a replacement. I only get emails back from a bot who doesn't seem to understand the problem. They just stopped replying all together. I am surprised by some of the negative reviews. I have thick, medium/longish (past shoulders) hair and really hate drying it, so try to go several days between washings. I have tried MANY dry shampoos of all different price points and, while there are a few others I have found to be OK (Amika, Drybar, IGK), I continue to come back to PHD as by far the most effective on my hair (the original one that is - the newer "advanced" one does not work on me at all). I am pretty sensitive to smells and, while I wouldn't say PHD is scentless, It is not strong enough to bother me and fades rather quickly. Is a much better deal. I do agree with the frustration of the nozzle/spray that sometimes stops working and always save my receipts since this has happened to me multiple times. Definitely inconvenient but ULTA has always made it right.

Don't get me wrong - this is a good dry shampoo. I prefer it over batiste/the cheaper brands because it feels more luxurious and not at all crusty dusty. It also smells great. But it's expensive. And it's an aerosol which makes me feel like I'm just not getting much product. And yes, I know we're at SpaceNK so I shouldn't expect this to be cheap - what I do expect is for it to be good value for money and in my personal opinion this just isn't. If money wasn't an option I'd definitely buy this over batiste any day - but money is an option and for that I just wouldn't recommend this. Instead, put your money to something like the perfect hair day balm/serum which is a multiuse product that lasts.

I don't admit that I'm wrong often, but....

I'm not a review girly but I was on the fence before buying this and I needed to share my thoughts now that I own it and have used it. I buy high end and drugstore products (my motto is if it works it's worth it) but when I tell you there was no way I was spending this much money on dry shampoo because my fine straight hair gets oily so quick and I go through cans like it's my job to. I was in Ulta last week and impulsively (and reluctantly) added this to my purchase to try it because I needed to finally know it wasn't worth the price tag. I don't admit this often but here it goes - I WAS WRONG! This stuff works so well it's unreal. The smell wasn't my favorite when I first used it as it kind of reminded me of a mix of a clean "mature" woman but it has grown on me. ... MoreI'm not a review girly but I was on the fence before buying this and I needed to share my thoughts now that I own it and have used it. I'm on day 3 of no washing which normally would be slick back pony kind of day because of the oils but my hair looks, feels, and smells clean. Usually when I use dry shampoo my hair doesn't look as oily but it does look like I've used dry shampoo and feels kind of icky. With this stuff my hair is still moveable and fresh feeling.

I've tried many, this is easily the best
15 January 2023

Over the years I've tried several different dry shampoo brands, all of which have left residue on my scalp, dried out the lengths of my hair, or otherwise caused issues. I also have dark hair so there's always the issue of is the dry shampoo going to leave my hair looking grayish or dull. Of every dry shampoo I've ever used, both premium and drugstore, this is hands down the best of the best. I was actually annoyed by how fantastic it was because I really didn't want such an expensive product to be this good, but alas... and honestly, it's worth every single penny. It's unlike any dry shampoo I've ever used. It doesn't just knock the oil dry, it actually makes my hair look clean. Like, genuinely clean! My hair stays super soft and moveable. There's zero stiffness, no discolouration, no buildup... As someone with bangs who uses dry shampoo every day on at least that part of my hair, it genuinely is the perfect product. I also live in a place where the humidity can get fairly ridiculous and my hair never feels sticky or gunky either.Oh, and it lasts! My previous fav was TIGI Rockstar but justifying the cost was difficult because it felt like the can dried up so quickly. This feels like it lasts exactly as long as it should so it's much easier to justify the price tag for what is indeed a truly perfect hair day.

Mixed feelings about this one
13 June 2023

I'm on a hunt for my new fav dry shampoo and this one was on the top of my list and new fav until I started getting scalp acne. I would use this dry shampoo 2-3x a week and would wash my hair 1-2x a week. I have really oily hair and I sweat a lot and this did a good job on absorbing the oils and leaving my hair looking fresh. It would not leave a whit cast, as long as you massaged it in right, and didnt leave a powdery feeling. 1 bottle would last me maybe close to a month, which compared to other dry shampoos, that's not a long time and its very pricey. After I bought my second bottle I started noticing that I was getting a lot of pimples on my scalp and my scalp was getting super itchy. I even had to buy a detox shampoo because I thought I maybe had too much buildup that my regular shampoo wasn't able to clean. I then went back and read the instructions and it says that this dry shampoo is meant for oily or sweaty hair but to use when you're gonna wash your hair soon, like same day or next day, not 3-4 days later. So I'm just gonna assume that because I would go a couple of days before washing it off is the reason why I got scalp acne. I saw they also came out with another dry shampoo called PHD Advanced that is actually meant for those times where you spray it on and go 3-4 days without washing. I also wasn't shaking the can for as long as it's supposed to be shaken, I would just do a quick little shake and spray and I've seen a lot of comments saying you have to shake it a lot for the product to work correctly. But overall it did its job but the side affects for me where not the best. Im going to try the PHD Advanced and see if that works better for me because I need a dry shampoo thats gonna keep me fresh for 3-4 days without giving me scalp acne

Overhyped and takes a while to shake out product
7 April 2023

I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I don't see many reviews mentioning this. I have dark brown, very healthy hair that tends to feel a lil greasy after 2/3 days. The first time I used this dry shampoo, I read the instructions- sprayed and left it for 30 seconds, I then tried to 'massage' and shake out the white residue and it essentially just turned into loads of dandruff-looking flakes. I'm talking a huge amount, it looked like I had some scalp condition. I massaged and shook my hair for probably 10 minutes and there were still lots of flakes. I have never had a dandruff issue, so I knew it was the dry shampoo. I just thought maybe I used the product too liberally and I only needed to spray a tiny amount. I have never had a dandruff issue, so I knew it was the dry shampoo. I just thought maybe I used the product too liberally and I only needed to spray a tiny amount. After about 15 minutes of aggressively shaking my hair, I got most of the flakes out, but I was still walking around with some small flakes left in my hair. However, I will say my hair did not look greasy anymore, and didn't have a matte look some dry shampoos give you. It just looked like clean hair with some minor dandruff. The next time I used it, I decided to double check the instructions, followed them and used the smallest amount possible, and it just happened again. Today, I spent 15 minutes attempting to rub these flakes out of my hair. It was very annoying. I will continue to use this product as I have already paid for the jumbo size, but I won't be repurchasing. If you buy it, all I can say is don't use it when you are in a rush, as you'll need to spend time really shaking the product out of your hair. Next time I use it, I'm going try a hair dryer to blow the product out too. But I will say it does work as a dry shampoo, hence the 2 stars. But, I'd much rather spend the same amount on another dry shampoo that won't leave me raking my hands through my hair for 15 minutes minimum.

Product is Amazing - The can itself? Not so much.
30 March 2024

I am a die-hard LP dry shampoo fan. I LOVE the product; however, my most recent purchase was two jumbo cans of the dry shampoo. One of those cans ended up not spraying after two uses. I reached out to customer support, and they were great to process a new order to replace it. I received the replacement can, and the SAME THING happened. So, I reached out to customer support again, and they were so great to send a replacement again. The dilemma now is that I’m completely out of dry shampoo and haven’t had time to get by my nearest supply store. It’s been such an inconvenient experience that I think it’s a safer option to purchase from your local beauty store so you can easily replace your can if it happens. Shipping is not super quick from an online purchase.

Pump up the volume.

This product does actually make my very fine locks look and feel thicker. It also allows my hair to maintain its shine. Where as some dry shampoo products cause a dull hair appearance. The only downside I fear, is that no matter how long I vigorously shake the can, I still notice a white residue on my hair after spraying the product. Luckily I have ash blonde highlights so the residue is massaged in and blends OK.I like how it makes my hair feel and look so will continue to use it.It is very expensive. I will buy again but not often. The scent is nice. Makes my hair smell newly washed.Just hope the price comes down a bit then it will be a staple for me rather than a occasional treat.

Smells terrible, average performance

Truly flummoxed by all these positive reviews, this is my least favorite dry shampoo that I've ever tried, and I'm not particulartly picky. Performance is average- has good oil absorption and maintains cleanness for a while. It will leave a white cast if you dont rub it in well, but like most dry shampoos can be avoided with proper use. But, my god!! The smell!!! At first it goes on a powdery old-lady smell, which could have been tolerable, but then it dries down to this rancid smell. And the worst of it, is that it LASTS and lasts! I continued to smell it over my perfume hours later. I ultimately ended up just having to shower to get rid of it. I bought it on a two-for-one sale, so i tried the second bottle to see if I got a dud, and the same thing!
