Terrific Tofu. Tofu is not something that I consume on a regular basis but do usually enjoy, so I was looking forward to trying this sample. I found it quite easily amongst the other tofu products in the refrigerated section of the store. The product is clearly labelled and the use of different colours for the different tofu varieties is also helpful. The transparent packaging on the back enables you to inspect the product you are purchasing, which is a welcome addition (and gets the taste buds tingling at the sight of all that honey soy goodness) Although it was a slight struggle to open the pack (I ended up resorting to the kitchen scissors), the tofu was generously coated in the honey soy marinade. A pleasant not-too-firm, not-too-soft texture with a good amount of flavour greeted me. I made a simple honey-soy vegetable stir-fry, however, I had three other family members to feed and none of them were too enthusiastic about tofu for dinner! So, it was chicken stir-fry for them and tofu for me!The tofu cut up easily and remained intact as I gently warmed it through the cooked vegetables. Served with some steamed rice, my dinner was flavourful, filling and I enjoyed it immensely. There was also plenty left over for me to have for lunch at work the next day - yay! The tofu reheated well and was just as delicious in my lunch as it was in my original dinner. Made in Australia from 97% Australian ingredients. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. At $4. 00 for 200g of tofu, this product fits comfortably within the family budget. I can see myself re-purchasing for a tasty meat-free change

Meat free Monday's!!! My family embrace all different cuisines, experiment and explore food! I have a 3 and 7 year old and currently my 7 year old is embracing what she think is a vegan/vegetarian diet. Dinner time can be challenging as all parents know. I use tofu mainly in Poke bowls or a stir fry with rice. The honey soy flavour is a favourite and enjoyable for young children. If you are budget conscious and want to still create a high protein and enjoyable meal this TOFU is worth every cent.

Surprisingly nice. OK, those who know me will know my trepidation when this bunch sample appeared in my Bunch box I'd eaten Tofu a few times before and it was very hit and miss, with more often it being a shriveled chewy little thing that made me think of the texture of an old dish sponge - So not appealing It was easy to find in the fridge with the other Tofu products. Having never actually bought or cooked it myself I was surprised that it came in a rather flat 4 piece pack that you can then cut as you want. The bottom half has the Cooking Instructions, Nutrition Information, Ingredients, Barcode, etc. This is both a good and a bad thing as it does look a little cramped. It does look like all the information is there, except any recycling info. And with all the print being on the front, it leaves a clear plastic backing allowing you to see what you are purchasing. The colour does make me think of honey and soy and there were visible sesame seeds too. It's made in Australia from at least 78% AU ingredients, but where do the other 22% come fromA 4. 5 Star Health Rating is fantastic and you can clearly see it's Vegetarian (I'm assuming the addition of Honey makes this not a Vegan friendly product). Now whilst I'm sure that the cooking instructions are right, I went with the advice of fellow Bunchee @lovecookrach and cut mine up and coated in cornflour before popping it in the wok and it came out with a light crunch on the outside - yum Thankyou @lovecookrach I also used the sauce based on @fishntutle 's recipe Honey Soy Tofu Stirfry to finish off my stirfry as I wanted to use something others had already tried and tested - again, yum Thank you @fishnturtle Now I made a slight boo-boo in that I added the Tofu and gave it a stir into the rest of the stirfry, instead of adding it right at the end and just on top. It was still OK, but it had lost a bit of that crispness I had originally achieved. Whilst the honey soy flavour was mild on the tofu, I think if you use similar flavours on your stirfry, you won't miss it. However, if you eat it on it's own, you might find it a little lacking. My mother whom has had worse previous experiences with Tofu than I had was very adamant that she was not interested in trialing this with me, but I gave her some nonetheless and let her know if the Tofu was THAT BAD, she could be like those fussy children and pick it out of the meal - but she ate it. She's not convinced that she needs to eat it again, but she did admit it was better than she's had before. Personally, I think I'll be adding Tofu to the shopping basket again sometime in the future. Thank you bunch and bunchees for converting me

Surprisingly Delicious!! This product was easy to find in the fridge next to the dairy goods, along with other Macro products. The Tofu was packaged in a simple, soft, vacuum sealed plastic pouch. The front is printed with all the product information and the back is clear showing the marinated tofu pieces. The front design is synonymous with the Macro Brand and the image is of a 'serving suggestion'. The product does not indicate whether the wrapping is recyclable. However, I would hope the soft plastic wrap is Redcyclable provided it is washed thoroughly. The Honey Soy Tofu has a 4. 5 Health Star Rating. It is high in Protein and Fibre. I made a vegetable stir-fry and added the tofu through it, following the instructions on the packaging. The Honey Soy flavour was noticeable without being overbearing. The firmness of the Tofu is indicated on the packaging with a scale of 3 out of 4. I quite enjoyed this firmness as I am not a fan of soft tofu. Made In Australia from at least 78% Australian ingredients and 22% Imported ingredients. The Origins of the Imported ingredients are not stated. The Tofu has a long list of Allergens: Gluten, Soybean, Sesame Seeds and Peanuts. The price point of $4. 00 for 4 pieces or 200g is reasonable in my opinion. I give this product 4 Stars for its flavour, texture, juiciness and being Made in Australia. However, it loses 1 Star for not using a higher percentage of Australian ingredients. Thank you BunchTeam and WW for the sample. I really enjoyed it and I am likely to buy this product in the future.
Needs improving on the taste. I have had Tofu many times over the years and quite familiar with the product, however, I have never tried the Macro Honey Soy Tofu. I usually buy the Macro plain firm Tofu and add my own flavours and sauces. I was quite excited to see this bunch offer as I love the idea of the honey and soy combination, as well as it being the firm tofu. This product was easy to find on the refrigerated shelf amongst other Macro Tofu's and had a use-by of two months from the purchase date. This seemed reasonable. Priced at $4. 00 it is quite expensive and it is a cheaper option to add your own flavours to a plain Tofu. However, if you are time poor this would be a good convenient option. I found the spot to open the package but resorted to the good old scissors instead. It was not showing any "open here" corner tab. There is a 4. 5 HSR which is great and is high in protein and fibre. Made in Australia from at least 78% ingredients which I am quite happy with. A great Vegetarian product but not Vegan due to the Honey ingredient. This is a good, quick convenient meat alternative product to add to your stir fry, pizzas, or sandwiches. After cooking it the recommended 2 min each side in the pan, although the texture was great and to be expected, I found it lacked flavour. I could barely taste any honey and the Soy, although it looks plentiful soaked into the tofu, it is very mild in flavour. Too mild for my tastebuds, and I would prefer the honey and soy to be much more pronounced. It really needs a bit more bing in your bite. I served mine in Taco shells both soft and hard for something different with a bit of baby spinach, tomato, cheese and a sprinkle more of sesame seeds. Due to the lack of flavour, I won't purchase this particular Macro Tofu product again. Thank you to Woolworths and Bunch for giving me the opportunity to try this product
It has potential. I was really looking forward to trying this product as I've never had tofu before. I really liked the healthy aspects of the product with the high star rating of 4. 5 out of 5 along with the soy/honey sounding rather nice indeed. And seeing the term of 'firm' gave me comfort as I'm not good with squishy type textures. Looking at the back of the packaging I could see 4 pieces of tofu coated very well which I thought that looks nicely coated to hide the tofu-ness. And also seeing the sesame seeds I thought fabulous as I really love sesame seeds. The cooking instructions on the front of the packaging were very handy indeed. However I must say it was a bit messy to actually open the packaging so maybe some type of peel back packaging or easier opening packaging could be looked at?Cooking was a breeze & I ended up using my Tefal frypan without any oil which it didn't stick to at all & I really liked not having to use any oil with dietary restrictions. Taste wise is where it goes downhill a tad as when it was warm/straight from the pan it had a strange & odd texture. The honey/soy really was hard to even get a hint of & the only taste coming through was the tofu which was kind of awful. It had this squishy with an almost popping texture which was really unpleasant. I ended up putting the cooked tofu in the fridge to completely cool down & we tried it again the next day to which I must say it was more palatable. The actual texture of it was more firm without the squishy factor & it had a better mouth feel. You could also actually taste the honey/soy flavours coming through along with the few sesame seeds. I definitely recommend cooking it to chill in the fridge & then eating it as it's more palatable. The price of $4 seems ok being a Macro product however a bit more work needs to be done on this product as I don't think I'd actually purchase this again given the squishy factor, lack of taste & packaging factor. Some possible improvements for this product would definitely be to inject more of the honey/soy into it as well as maybe completely coat it in sesame seeds. Some updating to the packaging would be appreciated as it's messy to open as is. I'm still undecided on tofu as it has potential & maybe if you try it a few times you might get used to the taste but I'm still not sure about the squishy factor.
Interesting experiment. I made a vegetarian noodle stir fry the other night and my husband and two of the children tried this tofu as an addition to it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the two girls didn't 'hate it' - they're not known for their adventurous tastes. They couldn't really discern the 'honey soy' flavouring though, saying that it had 'no real taste'. The texture was quite popular, particularly as a contrast to the cabbage and noodles. The consensus was that it was 'firm but not hard and not chewy at all' (high praise indeed). My husband also commented that it didn't have the strong flavour that he was expecting from it's appearance (as it's quite dark and different to the general appearance of tofu). The serving size (i. e. , the whole pack) was perfect for three people to add to a stirfry. I was a little disappointed to discover it contained gluten - as this was not what I expected. If it could be made with a gluten free soy sauce I think it would make it more widely accessible. I was happy to see that it is made in Australia but it doesn't include all Aussie ingredients - so this was a 50 / 50 win. Surely all of these ingredients could be sourced here??The packaging was easy to open and the clear back provides a great view of the contents. However, it leaves the front looking a bit cluttered (which puts me off a lot of products). Surely there could be a 'window' in the back to showcase the product and the ingredients and barcode could then be on the back (as usual). Another great idea would be to include some serving ideas somewhere on the packaging - this is always a winner for me, particularly when trialling a different product. Overall, this product was more popular than I had anticipated. I will probably buy some from time to time, particularly for those vegetarian stir fry nights, but the presence of gluten and the lack of imagination for what to do with it will probably prevent it from becoming a regular in my trolley.
Moist and Tender. So let's start from the beginning.... I actually picked this Tofu up in early Sept and when I got it from Woolies, Mr Snowy was with me and saw me pick it up and straight away he said...... your not feeding me that now Mr S is always happy to try the samples out with me and usually eats anything.... but apparently not Tofu I have not really enjoyed my experiences with Tofu either and so it has been sitting in my fridge starring at me every time I got something out. Good news... it has a very long use by date I have had it for about 2 months and it still has 4 days to go...... so I am thinking that it is well and truely matured and marinated in the honey soy. Good news... it has a very long use by date I have had it for about 2 months and it still has 4 days to go...... so I am thinking that it is well and truely matured and marinated in the honey soy. So today was the Tofu day, it does not look very nice at all when you open it up and I couldn't get any hint of aroma from it at all. I remember penny said to another Bunchee to cut it into thin strips, so that is what I did. I drizzled a little bit of Olive Oil over the Tofu and started to heat it through on medium heat. I was lucky to get a "rewards card" sample of "seeds of change" brown rice & quinoa, so I popped that into the microwave while heating up the Tofu. Then served it up together, it is a very quick and easy meal Mr S came out into the kitchen as I was serving it up and I was able to persuade him to have the tinniest bit... and I am not joking.... it was a nibble, and he just said yuck I proceeded to try it with caution, it was nice and tender and still moist and kept it's form, but I couldn't really taste the honey soy and to me it didn't have much taste at all. I did eat it all and I didn't mind it, but I didn't love it either. So if you do love Tofu I would recommend that you give this one a go, it is good quality, has a 4. 5 health star rating, made in Australia from at least 78% Aussie ingredients and there are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. It is $4 for this 200g packet which works out to be $20 per 1KG. So glad that I can now tick this one off my list.... phew
Tofu of taste. We've never cooked tofu at home but have tried it outside. Sample Tester was pleased to see that this looked like the type of tofu with fried brown skin not the plain bland white type. It comes in a 200g pack of 4 pieces. ST wanted to eat it all at once (“like a halfpounder”) but I pointed out that each serving was 100g (“like a quarterpounder”). The second tofu meal was with zucchini and green beans. This time ST was under strict instructions to try the tofu without drowning it in hummus. The tofu had an omelette-like texture and a delicate (by ST's standards) honey soy flavour. It has a 4. 5 HSR and is made in Australia from at least 78% Aussie ingredients (but the main ingredient is 94% soybean extract so that doesn’t add up). ST thought it was a bit expensive at $4 for 200g (= $20/kg) but might consider purchasing if on special. It is an easy-to-cook tofu in conveniently sized pieces with a pleasant texture and taste and would suit someone who is not looking for a punchier flavour like hummus!
