Better Taste Compared. I had Tofu before but didn’t liked it at all due to the rubber tuff taste. Googled a few recipes before cooking and decided on a Curry with vegetables. Much softer and tastier compared to previous experience. The family liked the dish and consumed without any negative comments, think if you a Tofu lover this is the way to go. Trying to cut on meats and would give this product another go cooking something different and see how the family goes. This might become a regular on the shopping list if I can master the cooking technique. Think that it contributes a lot to the eating experience.

GREAT IF YOU LIKE TOFU. I was eager to try this product as my husband and I normally don't like tofu, but was up to the challenge. The product was easy to find amongst the other tofu products and I used it in a chicken stir fry and cut the pieces too small so they all broke up and were lost in the dish. Tried them again in the same stir fry on a different night but made the pieces bigger and this was much better, absorbed the sauce quite well, otherwise I think it would be too bland for us. I will agree that it lives up to its name, as silky tofu and liked that the package was easy to open and that it had a good long expiry date. the 300 gram package was just enough for the two meals that I made and although not an immediate "convert" would be inclined to use it again.

Not a tofu lover. I’m not a fan of tofu, I don’t buy it and I don’t choose to eat it. In saying that I received it as a sample so made an effort to put it to the test. I used it in an Indian curry with veggies and lots of spices. Surprisingly this silken tofu tasted great. It soaked up all the flavour and spices so that every mouthful was beautifully coated. I did enjoy it prepared in this way however would not choose it as an option over chicken or meat. For the vegetarians and vegans though, I believe you’d love it. The texture is soft, smooth and silky and when used in a flavoursome curry it does taste good.

Tofu. I’ve never tried using tofu in my cooking but was keen to try. I googled the best way to cook it which was to drain it all day in the fridge and then pat it dry with paper towels. I used some ABC sauce on it after cutting it up and then coated with coconut flour before frying. I then added it to my stir fry. Well, it was ok, but with all the rigmarole, I doubt I’ll do it again. The google search also suggested that buying a firmer one is better and this one wasn’t. I must admit it was light and fluffy but really had no taste at all. Thanks Woolies for the opportunity to try something I’ve never had before.
Silky smooth and best for making chicken corn soup. U need to understand different tofu has different textures for different cooking purposes. This silky smooth tofu is best companion for corn or shredded chicken corn soup. Tofu doesn't normally have favour but it's give compliment to the soup with it's silly smooth mouthful feeling when u put in soup with other good favour ingredients like chicken, corn, white mushroom, even ham strips. Tofu is from soy and it is good and healthy good. Also u can add honey or raw sugar with soft silky smooth tofu simply for dessert. Lastly u can buy hard tofu for stir fry or panfry dishes.
Great healthy vegan dessert option. I was like several others on here who had not cooked with this product before although I had tried silken tofu as a dessert whilst on holiday in Vietnam so did know that i liked the egg custard like texture of the product. i also googled recipe ideas & ended up making a simple chocolate mousse dessert like some other people had. It was so quick & easy to whip up in the blender with the addition of maple syrup, cocoa, almond milk then sprinkled top with chopped walnuts. It made 4 generous serves - the only thing we found was that the consistency was not very thick & the chocolate flavour was a bit too rich for our tastes - it was like a very dark chocolate taste. I would definitely buy this product again & experiment by using ... MoreGreat healthy vegan dessert option. I love the fact that I can use this to make a nice & healthyvegan dessert for my son when he visits. Thanks Woolies for the opportunity to try new & different products that i would otherwise not buy. I belong to a healthy foodies facebook group & have also shared this recipe idea with them.
Versatility at its best. what can I say, this little bad boy surprised me on so many levels. Having no experience what so ever using tofu i thought I would branch out and try something different...... and here we are. Cant say this would ever have been on my shopping list prior to bunch.... but can now say that it will feature more often. While the kids weren't to fussed, myself and partner have found a new appreciation for meat free dinners. And this is where the tofu steps in..... its only as tasty as you make it, but boy does it take on flavours.... making it a punch to the taste buds. Highly recommend, held its shape and tastes great. Thumbs up from us.
Tasted OK but not what I use. I’m not vegetarian but I do cook vegetarian meals from time to time using tofu. I usually use a much firmer tofu, so I was very surprised at how slippery and delicate this item was. I’ve never used silken tofu before and none of my recipes require a tofu this soft… meaning I used my old recipes with this silken tofu and the results weren’t up to scratch. Personally I prefer firmer or more “spongey” tofu - however the taste of this one was not bad - kind of nutty flavour. The texture in my mouth was odd (I’m not used to it) and I found it difficult to cook with. I don’t think I would buy the silken tofu again unless I come across a recipe that doesn’t have a firmer substitute- and I’d have to Love the dish.
Aussie made, as described. Honestly, despite living 8 years in Japan, I had never cooked with silken tofu. I asked Bunch about what to cook with it. In the end, I added it to a butter chicken as I was out of cream. It was fine. It added some creaminess, although it did split. The thing with tofu is that it doesn't have much in the way of distinctive flavour to begin with. In Japan, I used to eat firm flavoured tofu burgers, and they were also fine, but without the flavouring, they were a nothingness. However, that can be its strength. If you are looking to add creamy texture, particularly in something that won't be heated, perhaps this could be your go to, especially if you were vegan or had an allergy to lactose. It won't change the flavour of whatever it is you ... MoreAussie made, as described. Honestly, despite living 8 years in Japan, I had never cooked with silken tofu. It won't change the flavour of whatever it is you are trying to prepare, which could make it an ideal substitute. Would I buy it again? Perhaps, if making a vegan dessert for a guest. For my family, though? Probably not, just because it is not logical in any of our family favourite dishes. It is Aussie made from Aussie ingredients, so it gets a thumbs up from me. If you like silken tofu generally, I don't see how you could go wrong.
First time Tofu. I've never ever eaten Tofu before that I can recall. I may have had some cubed Tofu in a Chicken or Beef Pad Thai but not 100% certain. If it was Tofu in my Pad Thai I do recall pulling it out because it was tasteless and had a horrible texture. That being said I have had my Woolworths Silken Tofu in my fridge for over a week and I was wondering what the hell I do with it. Not being one to throw food away willy nilly I had to log on to the Bunch website and check out the reviews to see if I could find some inspiration on how to cook it. I sliced up some onion and cubed my Tofu. I then pre-heated a pan with oil and proceeded to stir fry it. I don't know what normal Tofu would cook like but this Tofu when cooked had the consistency of scrambled eggs. I put the contents into a bowl and with quite a bit of trepidation took my first mouthful. Hmmm, not too bad. It was ok enough to eat all of it. Would I buy this? If I was a vegan or vegetarian I certainly would without question, but as I'm not I wouldn't bother. Thanks Woolworths Bunch for giving me the free sample to try. I look forward to my next obscure sample that I don't normally buy (Ricotta Cheese) lol.
