Thoroughly enjoyed. I don't cook with tofu a lot these days, I used to but had never tried pre marinated tofu. It was easy to find on the shelf in the fridge and the packaging is eye catching. When looking at the packet I thought it looked quite thin and was dubious if it would be enough. I cooked as per package directions, but would cook it for slightly less time next time. There is a good satay flavour to the tofu, it tastes authentic. Although the satay flavour is on the subtle side it is still strong enough to be noticeable, but mild enough if you wanted to add more sauce to it depending on the dish you're making you easily could. The tofu itself is firm, smooth and creamy. It holds its shape well and doesn't crumble. I found this package size enough to use in a ... MoreThoroughly enjoyed. I found this package size enough to use in a meal for two adults, it could be stretched further in a stir fry though. I debated 4 or 5 stars purely on the quantity. It is a 200g packet for 3. 50 which is fine, but a pack of the macro firm tofu is 450g for 3. 00 and honestly if paying in store and not a sample I'd be inclined to just get the plain and marinate it myself purely due to the price. I always stayed away from marinated tofu in the past but this sample has changed my mind and I would purchase again if not wanting to bother with marinating my own tofu.

Wanna be Satayin’ Somethin’. I had this Macro Satay Tofu sample in our fridge for a while because I wasn’t sure if I’d add it to a stir fry or noodles or just eat as is. I think it was $4 for the 200g pack. It is found in the chilled section, near the packet cheese. The tofu is made in Australia. I was making fried rice today so I thought the tofu would be a good side dish. I pan fried them in some oil. They come precut in 4 pieces which makes it very convenient. The packaging was a little fiddly to open, I thought you can peel it open, but couldn’t find anything to peel apart, so I cut it easily with scissors. I read the instructions and it said to fry for a few minutes, so I just let it warm up on both sides and took it out. I cut each piece into smaller pieces ... MoreWanna be Satayin’ Somethin’. I cut each piece into smaller pieces and I could see the little peanut pieces which looked good. The aroma was savoury and nice. I tasted one on its own and it was tasty, nutty, slightly sweet and full of mild satay peanut flavour. The nut flavour was there but not too strong and didn’t overpower with any spice. It would be easy to slice these into a salad or add to 2 minute noodles as well. We had them as a side to our fried rice and bok choy. We both enjoyed the flavour and found the tofu tasty. It was firm but soft and kept its shape and didn’t break. I don’t usually buy tofu, only because I don’t know what I’d eat them with, but will buy these again, I’m thinking a nice satay tofu burger would be yumThank you for the sample as I wouldn’t have bought this at all.

New to tofu eating, this is a winner. We have been making a conscious effort to incorporate more plant-based meals into our dinner rotation. We've had a few fails with other tofu, but this one was actually delicious! Chopped it up into relatively small chunks (to help combat the tofu-texture-feeling), fried it off to crisp up the edges and then added it to some stir fried veggies with hokkien noodles and hoisin sauce. Have had this meal a few times since. Two thumbs up.

Tofu never screams. Tofu isn’t for everybody, my husband being one of those. He says it’s bland, rubbery & tasteless. I like it added to stir fries or a salad. Very easy to cook in a fry pan or bbq for a few minutes on each side, until heated through. The 4 pieces of tofu in the pack are a good size, marinated in a satay sauce. It’s just a pity the satay flavour, doesn’t really stand out. Made in Australia from at least 97% Australian ingredients. 4 Health star rating. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. $4. 00 for 200g. Servings per pack: 2 Thanks for the sample Bunch, I am more than happy to repurchase for a quick stir fry meal for 1.
Great tofu. I enjoyed this tofu with some vegetables and it made a delicious lunch. I just pan fried it quickly in a non stick pan so it warmed and browned slightly. I found the satay flavour mild but tasty, however there was no sauce to add flavour to the vegetables unfortunately. This is something I wouldn’t normally purchase but I did enjoy it and would buy it again. The texture was good, soft but firm enough to hold its shape with a nice peanut flavour. It wasn’t a dry rubbery texture like some tofu can be. The pack contains 4 pre cut squares so it was very easy to serve. It has a 4 star health rating and is high in fibre and protein. There is no info on recycling but I would assume it would go into soft plastics if returned to store. Overall a tasty tofu that I would purchase again. Love that’s it’s made in Australia and a good alternative to meat for protein.
As a Meal or Snack, So Versatile,. Tofu is a regular buy here, incorporated in dishes as a main meal such as stir fry, laksa and rice dishes. This Satay Tofu is also popular as a snack. • Made in Australia from at least 97% Australian ingredients • $4. 50 for 200g• No Artificial Colours, Flavours or Preservatives • High protein, HSR of 4The sandwich press is the fastest way to cook this Satay Tofu with all the trimmings for a snack bowl as a mealor sandwich with favourite fillingsTofu is a very convenient and versatile ingredient, well worth trying.
Love this product. This was not a Bunch sample but as I buy it regularly and everyone enjoys it, thought I’d write a reviewI have tried many different fofu products and haven’t enjoyed a lot of them. Love the peanut flavour makes the flavour a bit more interesting. I’m not sure if this has a more solid constistency than others but it doesn’t fall apart as easily when cooked. This makes a very quick nutritious meal for vegetarians or others. I add it to fried rice, or noodles with some extra peanut flavour, I highly recommend.
Expensive but tasty. So this was another interesting sample as tofu is not a regular item in our shopping trolley and our last taste of tofu was the recent Honey Soy version of this tofu. The item was partitioned into 4 small squares of brown tofu and was quite small. I was surprised to see that this cost $4 (worked out to $20/kg). The packaging was quite helpful. Firstly, it was clear plastic on the back so you could see the product you were buying. Secondly, there was a lot of information on the front of the pack. The package suggested "great in stir-fry dishes" so we took the advice and added half of it to noodles and vegetables in a stir-fry, as a meat-replacement. The flavour of the satay was very subtle, although the packaging suggested "rich satay" flavour. The other two pieces we fried and ate one on its own (where the satay flavour was perhaps a little too subtle) and added the last one to fill some sushi rolls (cut into strips) with other veggies. Overall texture is soft and worked well in the stir fry, sushi and as a stand-alone item, however the flavour is perhaps a little subtle is you are looking for a strong nutty-ness. This is made in Australia (however only 79% Aussie ingredients, so would have been nice to know where the rest was from), no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, also 4. 5 HSR. My biggest concern as a future purchase would be the cost. A single pack wouldn't feed the whole family, so I would have to buy 2-3 packets for one family meal, which could be costly.
Love the flavour. I've regularly bought the Soyco branded version of this product before for occasions when I need something that is ready-to-eat. I don't usually buy pre-marinated tofu otherwise as it's expensive and the pack size is small (I usually buy 400-500g blocks of tofu to get 4 servings at a time - this pack only serves 2). The texture of the tofu is good, smooth and not grainy. The marinade was flavourful and I liked that identifiable pieces of peanut were present. The setting agent used is magnesium chloride - I prefer calcium chloride-set tofu to improve my calcium intake. I microwaved two squares and ate them for dinner with edamame-ginger rice and a side of cauliflower and broccoli. I microwaved two squares and ate them for dinner with edamame-ginger rice and a side of cauliflower and broccoli. The second two squares were lightly pan fried and eaten as a sandwich with avocado, cucumber, capsicum and lettuce the following day. This would also be good cold in a wrap or chopped in a salad. There isn't enough sauce included to make it suitable for a stir fry on its own, and if I were making my own sauce for a stirfry I wouldn't bother using expensive ready-to-eat marinated tofu. Australian made is a bonus, as is the fact that the pack is RedCycle appropriate. I'd buy this again if I needed something quick to prepare or ready to eat, as $4 for 2 servings is a bit expensive to buy otherwise.
Love these satay pieces. Love these satay pieces. They come in large pieces that can be used as is or chopped into chunks. I find a lot of pre-packaged vegan options taste quite oily but these don't have that indigestible after-taste. I usually chop them up into small chunks and add to a stir-fry of green beans, carrot and red capsicum. They are not a strong peanut style satay so I usually add extra peanut butter.
