This replaces an evolution equivalent. Chalk and cheese. Far more accurate and the cuts are so much cleaner. It really feels like a professionally engineered machine and is surprisingly compact given that it can cut 12 inch board.

I am a cabinet builder and a custom remodeler by trade. My miter saw is a crucial part of my tool arsenal. I currently own 5 miter saws. 10"Dewalt chop, 10" Dewalt slide compound, 12" Dewalt slide compound, 10" Rigid chop, 10" Hitachi Chop. I have also owned and used a variety of other miter saws. I would HIGHLY recommend this saw to any professional wanting to achieve superior results without the frustrations caused by most saws. It might seem pricy but it is well worth the cost if you are meticulous about your work.MikeRed Lion, PA

Spot on accurate out of the box, no adjustments needed. Fine cut and easy to use. No soft start but it does not kick, so not really needed. No Laser but I always find them a pain to use, so bring the blade teeth down to the pencil line and you can see exactly where your cut will be, too many people rely on gimmicky accessories. I was going to buy a well known yellow brand but found the preset angles were not tight, you needed to check with a gauge where the correct angle was and clamp it down. Plus they kick like a mule and the handguard release pinches your skin.

This is my third 0714 a brilliant tool , lightweight so easy to carry in and out of jobs.very accurate and versatile. My first saw I left behind my van and the reversed over it. The replacement for that saw is Over due a service it’s taken a lot of punishment over the years and as it’s in constant use I’ve bought another one.It is light and compact but with a good cutting width.I’ve always bought the laser version. It’s quite a bit more expensive but if you are using it everyday it’s worth the extra. You soon forget about the price as the laser saves a lot of time setting the timber up for the cut. I think it’s the best saw in its class on the market.
I've had the same model for 17 years well pleased. This updated version doesn't compare, very disappointed I've used it twice. I want to return it. Always bought Makita will think again. not happy.
Really solidly built, a world away from the likes of Evolution. Perfectly accurate out of the box and gives a great width of cut. Its first use was in trimming worktop into a splashback and I was completely delighted with the finish. This is my third Makita machine (the fourth is immediate) and I think they are worth every extra penny.
Superb quality. Although it is supplied with a small plastic square, it was not necessary to make any adjustments. 100% accurate out of the box.Quality of cut is excellent. The only concern is the rather rough feel of the slides. This didn't seem to make any difference to the accuracy but did let the otherwise well made impression.Excellent service and delivery.
I returned this 15 minutes after taking it out of the box:1. The picture does not show that there are two sets of rails: one behind the bag, the other underneath the saw. This creates a "bump" when sliding the saw through its full travel - not a great design implementation.2. The top set of rails had a defect causing the "glide" to be a series of bumps.3. This saw (and others) should not be called "dual bevel" when it only moves 5 degrees to the left (it does move over 45 degrees to the right). While strictly true, it's an unpleasant surprise if you're not looking at the fine print.4. The saw table is quite small - pay attention to the dimensions.
I purchased a refurbished model and it arrived in new condition. It had obviously never been used to cut material. Two small issues, the top slide bars are "sticky" when moving the saw slowly (I've read about this issue from other experienced) but this is not a major issues for me and does not affect the kerf quality or function of the saw. The second was the extensions were not level with the table when installed. A vice and rubber mallet took care of that little issue. Overall an excellent machine and easy to store and move from job to job.
Do not purchase this item. It is not a double bevel mitre saw. It’s single bevel. Completely wrong description. And costs £100 more than the single bevel
