Coming from a cheap Ryobi, I expected improvement but didn't expect to see this much improvement! The difference is day and night. Now suddenly I can do straight long cut on plywood board without a guide! The Makita just eats up the line like nothing! I am using the stock Makita rough blade but the result is pretty smooth, better than the Ryobi with a finish 60 tooth blade! I found it in the local HD and loved the rubberized handles and solid build. Man, wish I got it sooner. Was out of curiosity how much this Makita could improve on my wobbly Ryobi. Costs 2+ times the Ryobi. But actually, the blades are quite expensive in comparison. Love it! Thanks, Makita! Only DIY in my backyard, so cords is far more reassuring and not much a hassle for my use. Right on!

Great saw, good for precision cutting sheet goods for woodworking with proper blade. I added dust collection and with Kreg Accu-cut or other guide system can act as poor man’s track saw. Makita does not make a dust chute for this saw, but the Bosch CSDCHUTE for their CS10 fits. Just have to heat the plastic with heat gun and shape it to the Makita width. Drill and tap for two screws to affix dust chute to saw and seal with silicone caulk. Needed to bend the blade guard handle out just a small amount for it to pass added chute. With rear chute only, some dust will also be ejected from front of saw. This can nearly be eliminated by adding a plastic “guard” at front of blade guard. Shaped to fit and secured with double-sided tape. Search “circular saw dust collection” on youtube and many examples will show up. EZsmart has examples of this type of dust collection and also sells a different chute you can add to front of saw, which is more efficient but involves cutting a large hole front of blade guard/housing.

I am not a carpenter or professional woodworker, just a DIY guy who likes good equipment. I bought this saw after I blew the bearings out on my old Craftsman circular saw using a diamond blade to cut 1.25 inch granite slabs. Yes, these blades should be used with water cooling, but I was trying not to have to buy or rent a wet saw. That being said, this saw powered through long cuts with no difficulty, and never stalled even if my cutting groove strayed slightly. I ended up buying a good wet saw, because I needed a guide to maintain straight cuts, and it will now return to its true purpose of woodworking. This is a highly capable saw, with multiple small touches that make it even more versatile, although I have not had a need to use them. I particularly like having the Allen wrench for changing the blade attached right into a slot in the saw, ready when I need it. However, the laser guide is nearly useless if you are working outside (however, this was on polished granite, not wood).

My Makita 5007MG saw came with a hard carry case, 24T blade, blade wrench and rip fence. Everything about the saw says professional to me. It is powerful, comfortable to use for repeated cuts, accurate out of the carry case and easy to adjust. I purchased a 60T finish blade when I bought the saw for my first project with it and the blade change was fast and simple. My first project involved doing cross cuts and rip cuts on 1-3/4" Baltic Birch butcher block countertops. I was floored by how easily the saw, with the 60T blade, made a flawless, accurate cut in that material, while the integrated blower cleared the cut line so I could see what I was doing. The integrated LED lights are useful when cutting in less than ideal lighting conditions, and, when they are on let you know the saw is plugged in and live.Use of magnesium in the construction saves about a pound off the weight compared to the very similar 5007F model. When you are using a saw all day long, that pound makes a difference.I found nothing to dislike about this saw at all, and highly recommend it for those seeking a sturdy, accurate circular saw.

Note that I NEVER give a 5 star rating on tools becuasee I always find something on them that can be improved. Over the years since pioneering the market for battery operated tools with it's 9.6 v. drill, Makita has consistently developed and marketed outstanding tools for a competitive price and this saw is no exception as I've found it to have more features for the price than any of the competitors products available at Home Depot. This saws's features include a storewide, if not industry best, 5800 rpm rating instead of the 5200 on the other saws. The only complaint I have is about the case, which features and uncharacteristically cheap, unusable blade compartment. The door latch doesn't latch and blades readily fall out of it when the lid is opened. I had to put my own latch on it to get it to work. This is something I would expect from Dewalt, not Makita, but there it is. This flaw has been in the case since Makita started selling it. I think it is worth to note also that the bottom of the line Makita circular saw that Home Depot has been selling for like 30 years IS STILL SOLD (I owned one years ago and almost bought it again recently but opted for the this model with the upgraded features and the case) which says a lot, in my opinion about the high quaility of Makita tools.

Over the past 20 years i have only owned the red name brand high dollar circular saws but they just dont last, at a rough count I am on number 13 or 14 which is ridiculous. I currently have 3 on my shelf in my shop to be repaired and 4 in my job trailer and they are basically all worn out or have issues and i take pride in taking care of my tools. Enough is enough so I decided to make a change. A year ago I purchased a makita 10" miter saw and it performs flawlessly, very happy, so i decided I was going blue with my circular saw also. After one day of use I couldn't be happier. Extremely lightweight, feels great in the hand, and cuts beautifully. I cant speak to longevity yet but it cant be any worse than what Ive had. Im pretty sure the red ones are American made and they have been garbage for me for 20 years. I've made up my mind that as any future tools die they will be replaced with blue

Perfect Saw In my humble opinion
19 April 2023

This Makita is very smooth in operation. Very little vibration compared to Dewalt or Ridgid and much quiter too. I like the magnesium sole plate and housing. Sturdy compared to aluminum castings that can bend. I have owned a Makita plug in hammer drill for years and the motor quality is still smooth and impressive for power. Just ry this saw for yourself, Makita offers a 30 day satisfaction period and so does Home Depot during the return period. The included case is HEAVY DUTY. ENJOY...

I bought one of these in March 2020, though I used the same model extensively before-hand because my housemate owned one. I didn’t have a drop saw so to make straight cuts, I would set up a piece of timber as a guide on top of the piece I wanted to cut on the table, make it square with my square, clamp it down and make the cut with the circular saw. The method works fine, but it’s way slower than using a drop saw, and I should've just bought a drop saw to start with.Nonetheless, the Makita circular saw has performed flawlessly. I’ve mostly used it with hardwood, which of course is generally more demanding than softwood, and has been no trouble for this saw. I’ve mostly used it with hardwood, which of course is generally more demanding than softwood, and has been no trouble for this saw. I used it to build about 20 garden wicking beds, a loft, a greenhouse, a solar dehydrator, a teeterboard, etc, as well as for cutting up firewood. At 1800 watts, the saw has plenty of power - more than my Makita mitre saw in fact, at 1430 watts, and with a higher blade speed of 5800 RPM versus 4300 RPM. It’s reasonably heavy at 4.8 kg, but comfortable to hold and easy to use. The base seems flat and solid and can easily be tilted for bevel cuts or lowered to adjust the depth of the cut. It can cut a decent depth: 63.5 mm, or 45 mm with a 45 degree bevel. It also features an LED to light up your cutting area, which I’ve found useful at times. By the way, I believe the “MG” in the model name designates that it has a magnesium base/shoe, which helps save on weight while being very sturdy and durable. And I believe the only difference between the 5007MG and the 5007MGK is that the latter comes with a carry case.I liked the saw enough to buy my own when my housemate moved out and took his with him. Unfortunately though, my saw hasn’t seen much use, because I ended up buying both a Makita sliding compound mitre saw and a 5-piece DeWalt Flexvolt kit which included a cordless 54V circular saw. I’ve hardly used my 5007MG saw since then. That’s because, as with other corded tools, I’ve found the main shortcoming of this saw is that it has a cord, and it’s just rather an inconvenient thing to have on a circular saw. The only other minor shortcoming is that it lacks an electric brake, which I’ve become accustomed to on my cordless circular saw and my mitre saw. It also seems reasonably pricey for a corded circular saw, but it seems you get what you pay for.If you’re doing a large volume of sawing in one spot with good access to a power point, you need heaps of power, or you don’t want to invest the premium in buying batteries for a cordless version, then perhaps this saw would suit you? I can confidently affirm that it’s a solid saw.
