Compact, sturdy and powerful. Drill and chuck are of high quality and run smoothly, vibration free as expected. A little heavy in the hand but this is a reflection of the expected higher specification build quality.

I HAVE USED A DRILL JUST LIKE THIS ONE FOR 43 YEARS I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A NEW, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS DRILL. IF YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF THIS DRILL IT A PROVEN FACT THEY WILL DO THE JOB AND LAST A LONG TIME.
I think this is one of the 'old' Makita designs like some of my other Makita tools still going strong after 10 yrs - built like a battleship and works like a dream
This is a great drill. Well made, strong and I expect it will last a long time. I've always been impressed with Makita tools. Whether cordless or mains powered, they last longer and work better than most other brands. Do you pay more just for the brand name? Probably yes but I'm okay with that. Its a better tool than similar drills by other manufacturers.
This is my first hammer drill and the build quality and feel of the drill leads me to believe it will be the only hammer drill I ever have to buy. I have several Makita tools from cordless drills and sanders and this drill comes through again. I have used it several days while rebuilding a back porch that the carpenter bees totally destroyed. Made several 1/2 inch holes in block and three 5/8 inch holes by 7 inches deep in solid concrete to anchor 6x6 post brackets to footings for the porch posts. All these were drilled without a hitch. Drilled the 5/8 inch holes with the gear box in low as recommended by the owners manual. By the way the two speed gear box is housed in a metal case and is well worth the money in my opinion. All in all an outstanding drill. If I had ... MoreThis is my first hammer drill and the build quality and feel of the drill leads me to believe it will be the only hammer drill I ever have to buy. This is my third one in 37 years. I have used it (my first one) to core a 1-1/2" hole through an 18 in concrete foundation.
It is Makita so you know its quality ! the best ! I use this on my DIY projects . The uses for this are endless, it works like a dream makes every thing so much easier.
it is a good drill however i have bought it because it said it is 220V however the one i got was 110V so keep that in mind if your want to buy it. my country uses 220V only.
