This Makita grass strimmer was to replace an old petrol strimmer, that was heavy and difficult to start. The new strimmer is light, very easy to use, extremely adjustable, and does a good job. A really worthwhile addition to my Makita set of tools, that share the same batteries.

Purchased this as the push along strimmer we have is heavy going on uneven ground and a bit brutal for tidying close to fruit bushes etc.The Makita is a little underpowered for thick stemmed dock or vary mature nettles, but cuts grass and young growth very well.Lightweight and adjustable length and cutting head angle, great features. In all will edge and trim grass well and young nettles etc. Not suitable for brambles or woody stemmed weeds.

Excellent. I always buy Makita products. This strimmer surpassed expectations particularly with 5 amp battey. So much lighter and convenient to use than my petrol strimmers and it was more than capable of coping with pretty tough grass and weeds. The great advantage is the weight and the easily adjustiblehead angle. This means that you use it more regularly than petrol models and hence enjoy a much tidier plot!

Great price. I checked! I wondered if one battery would provide enough power but in practice it does some hard work although, as you might expect, your batteries will be drained. It is nicely balanced which makes the work easier - less strain on the back - and there is a strap if you have a lot to do. The swivelling head makes edging a lot easier and that is a lot of what I routinely need from a stimmer. As other reviewers have said the bump stop mechanism isn't the easiest to operate but it does save on line consumption.
Recommended for about 75, which you can get on here for boxed without instructions etc. Get pdf instructions online. You can still get the Makita warranty even without the paperwork, just get an invoice and input serial number etc. Comes with some accessories. Pretty good cordless strimmer, ideal for Makita tool users. My 4ah battery lasted quite a long time. I need the harness (supplied) when using for more than 15 minutes due to strain on lower arms. Not heavy duty, but still good for a small to medium garden. There are bigger Makita models. This one is useful for most ppl. Makita are helpful, good service with free extended warranty (3 years) for me.
I wasn't sure about a battery powered strimmer, but it does do a very good job on first impressions. I already had the makita batteries, so i knew that they were good.
Excellent strimmer for small jobs, the twist head and adjustable head angle combined with the adjustable pole length make it ideal. I cut lawns for a living and this is much easier to use for strimming around washing lines and makes edging lawns a doddle. Light weight and well balanced, you get about 30 minutes from a 3.0AH 18v battery and takes less than 30 minutes to charge, get a spare battery and you can keep going without waiting. Still need my petrol head for the big jobs, but for keeping a maintained garden presentable, you wont go far wrong with this. The only dont side the 2mm cord doesn't last long edging over concrete, but the cord is inexpensive and i will try a slightly heavier duty line when the two roll that come with the strimmer have run out. Nice simple strimmer. Seems robust and well made. The line's easy to wind on and the bump feed works well. It's fine on grass and young nettles but as you'd expect struggles with brambles and woodier stuff. Ours is a smallish garden and even a 3 amp battery has plenty of capacity. I bought this as I already have the batteries and charger for my other Makita kit, including the mower. I'm so impressed I'm thinking of getting its big brother brushcutter for some other land I own. Recommended, thoroughly.
I have a petrol Makita brush-cutter that is simply too big and powerful for the lighter jobs. This lighter one makes keeping the garden and lawns tidy a breeze. I especially like the edge-trimmer position that works really well. It's superbly balanced; the battery lasts and lasts; as the does the cutting line... and I'm saying that after pushing it hard with a few nettles and docks - which it is not made to cut., but sometimes it's just not worth getting the brush-cutter fired up. The build quality is excellent, and It's a delight to use.
I've plenty of Makita tools so batteries aren't a problem. I don't have a big garden so this review isn't going to be conclusive. I've yet to have a battery run out while using it and it seems to have plenty of power for the job. It comes with spare cutting cord, safety glasses and a shoulder strap. It's light but well built and with a battery connected is balanced perfectly while using the shoulder strap. The convenience of not having to roll out an extension lead and worrying about strimming the cable, simply clip in a charged battery and you've the freedom to roam far and wide from any electrical source. Highly recommended and good value for money.
