I own three other (one corded and two cordless) jigsaws. I couldn't bring myself to buy the Makita, because I convinced myself that I don't use them quite enough to justify the cost. So, I fought with the two cordless ones (both of which came with weak batteries) and I generally have to plug in the corded one to finish the work. I was sorely tempted to splurge and get the Makita brushless jigsaw (currently $269), but grabbed the special offer to get the LXT jigsaw free with purchase of 5.0Ah batteries and charger (currently $199). Cordless saws are Makitas wheelhouse, and this tool lives up to reputation. Feels solid in hand, good ergonomics, consistent power, and easy blade changes. Corded jigsaws are much cheaper, but I am glad I finally went cordless.

This is the quickest and easiest to use tool for small projects. If you have the smaller batteries it does eat through them quick, but for small projects or quick this is indispensable. It also has a tool-less quick release for swapping blades. Beautiful Makita!

I really like this jig saw! I needed one and this one makes really accurate cuts so I am very pleased with it. It even came with a sampling of blades, which was unexpected for a bare tool. The only negative to me is the weight, it's heavier than I expected which makes things difficult when cutting a hole say at eye level in an installed sheet of plywood.
Great Makita product, as usual. Looks almost like new and works. Only quibble is that it did not come with the same accessories as a new one, which Ebay claims their certified refurbished items do. No user manual, which is not a big deal. However, a new saw comes with a 5 piece assortment of Makita brand blades and this came with a single metal cutting blade. Still a good value, but something to conside when looking at refurbished tools on Ebay.
As with every Makita tool I have purchased, this jigsaw is a long overdue addition to my collection of their 18 volt series. The jigsaw has tool-less blade changing as well as four blade oscillation settings and it comes with a snap on plastic protection shoe for the base to keep from damaging finished surfaces. The operation of the saw is smooth and has very little vibration. It is also well-balanced with a 3aH battery and the weight won't wear you out. If you're looking for a well-built unit to add to your collection or just need a solid, capable jigsaw then this one is for you.
I have used this jigsaw regularly in my woodworking shop and must say it is awesome. I also recently used it to cut floor tile where pipes were in the path and had to cut circles with it. No lack of power. I absolutely love the easy blade change mechanism. Makita has been putting a lot of engineering in their tools in my opinion towards user friendly. I have many different types of batteries for my Makita tool collection and recommend the 5.0Ah battery. It also has a blade support. Highly recommend this jigsaw.
Fast, clean, and easy cuts. Love it for quick work on wood, drywall, or sheet goods. The tracking is not as precise as what I would like for precision work, but, as I mentioned, I like it for quick cuts. Only a few gripes, needs better lighting, as most lighting hits the base-plate. Also the lighting needs to shine ahead of the blade as well. Second, the splinter guard often, breaks or catches on the blade during a slight turn. It would help to have a few extra come with the saw, or re-engineered to last longer. Lastly, I think this jigsaw would be the best if it had a beefier solid magnesium/aluminum base plate. Still a lot to luv with this saw, low vibration, goes where you want, fast. Simple and not complex, and it just plain outright works!
I got this tool for some woodworking projects I had been wanting to do. I already had a Makita combo kit so being able to buy a bare tool was a great value. This saw was so smooth, and I had no trouble getting used to the trigger to reduce or increase the speed. Not needing a tool to change the blade was an added bonus. This saw did everything I wanted it to do and I would definitely recommend.
This is a nice jigsaw and especially good to get rid of the corded style after so many years. The only feature I don't like is the clear plastic blade shield which fills up with sawdust and obscures the vision of your cut. I simply removed the shield, easy fix, and now it works great. Im keeping my old Bosch for a backup but it will probably not see much use. Overall, the Makita is solid, works well just like most of their tools.
