Since Maldon began with these tubs, I've never bought the smaller packages, which I find both fiddly (because of the inner bag) and less economical. Some reviewers have complained about the fact that the tub is made of plastic. Yes, it would be nicer if they could go for a paper tub (such tubs used to be common in the past), but this tub is made of a plastic that can be recycled and is accepted in all council recycling schemes, so it's not such a big deal. I just wish Ocado began offering Maldon's smoked salt as well - which also can be had in these tubs.

I was give this to review by ocado. I enjoy bringing home products from holidays so have used many different types of salt - from France, Spain, Italy etc. Each have their own flavour, but Maldon is somehow softer and more crumbly in texture. Adds a great flavour used raw or in cooking, was especially good on pan fried padron peppers. Will always have some in my cupboard from now on.

Absolutely love Maldon salt. Will not use any other brand now. While I am eco rep at work and strive to use everything environmentally friendly, the big tub is still better to use. The plastic wrapping the salt is wrapped in in the card boxes cannot be recycled whereas the tubs can be repurposed. Grow herbs in them. Store your bits and bobs in them. Donate to schools/nurseries for junk modelling.

I?m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado and whilst it will come in really handy, it?s hard to offer much more than that when reviewing it. It?s a good size tub, a nice wide diameter, so easy to grab a pinch or two, but I have to be honest and question why it?s so expensive. That?s the only reason I?ve scored it four and not five. I realise there are even more expensive coarse sea salts out there, but nonetheless I really couldn?t recommend it when it sells for ?4.80 for 570g.
I love this salt and since first using it haven't bought any other kind.I understand people commenting here that the plastic tub is bad but the cardboard box version still contains a plastic bag, which I'm pretty sure is much harder to recycle than this solid tub as it's much like a crisp bag. The tub is also really useful for storing things after.
Big fan of the plastic tub unlike previous reviewer. I would like more plastic packaging please. I've never even seen a sea turtle.
I love to keep this big pot of salt next to my hob. Its such good quality. Big flakes which easily break up between my fingers. So much easier to handle in the recycle-able tub. No worries about splashes or it getting wet. A regular buy.
I buy the medium pack in cardboard all the time. Why would we customers be forced to buy plastic if we want to buy bigger and save money on a basic product, I can't understand or accept. Ocado be more creative and challenge the producers please.
I buy this very often, its the only salt you need truly. A beautiful texture, tastes great, and a really handy pot. Yes it comes in plastic but its so convenient and the pot can be reused after the salt has been used up. And then recycled. Love it.
Love Malden sea salt, never buy anything else but would never buy in plastic tub like this. Pease listen to your customers Malden and ditch the plastic! Malden is too classy for cheap plastic tub anyway!
