New players who like Marshalls will dig this, but I seriously think something like Line 6's Spider 75 blows this thing away for value and versatility. Of the two I bought and tried, the first had a wrinkle in the tolex covering, the second had white paint on one of the knobs right out of the factory-sealed box and the cabinet buzzes when I hit certain notes. Both have the same low output compared to my old 15DFX. YouTube videos make the MGCFX sound like a dream, but after getting it home I'm uncharmed.

It is slightly larger than a Fender Frontman 25R.I've played 5 guitars through it (4 with humbuckers, from a 1981 Electra to 2 2014 Gibson Les Pauls). My back to back testing was with a 1994 Fender American Standard Stratocaster and a 2014 Gibson Les Paul Studio. The tone controls & gain were set a 12 o'clock, volume & master at 2 o'clock. The volume was loud enough for practice in a 16 x 24 foot room, but I don't believe it would be enough for a full band performance. If you play metal with a single coil equipped guitar, I would imagine a pedal to increase the input signal may help. I've really enjoyed playing through it.

I had to downgrade a lot of my equipment and sell my Marshall Valve Combo. But I really do like this amp. You are not going to get the quality of single analog pedal effects with the built in effects, but they are still pretty good and very usable. Love all four of the channels with Crunch and OD1 being my favorite. OD2 is also very good, but more for super high gain applications and I am sure I will use it more in the future as my writing and playing changes. I have gone from that super high gain sound to more of a crunch or OD1 tone in my playing. The tones out of all four channels do an incredible job of mimicking an authentic Marshall tone, I was pleasantly surprised with how warm they all sound. I don't go out and gig. I like to play around at home and maybe at a friend's house and this amp lets me do just that and more. Don't buy this expecting the quality of a $2000+ tube amp, because that is not what you are paying for. This amp is absolutely perfect for the price you pay for it. I can get such a wide variety of sound out of it, from heavy metal, to clean country. The storage feature is amazingly simple to use and helpful if you find a sound that you do not want to lose on a certain setting. Overall, best amp that I have owned, and easiest to use. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
This is a good, versatile amp with lots of features. I find it best used for home practice. The amp has great reverb settings, four different channels, 5 other effects, and a few other key features. One awesome thing about this amp is the memory for channel settings. That means that you can set the 4 different channels to do certain things, and then change between them, regardless of the settings on the amp at that time. However, that is only really useful if you go and spend about $100 on the foot controller. My biggest issue with the amp is the amount of buzzing that occurs if you turn the volume to full, but other than that, it's a good amp. With all that said, you can probably get a better amp for around the same price.
This was the perfect purchase for the home. I actually bought this to replace a larger amp that I had that was wearing out. For the price, this was a great buy and is just right for what I do playing in my spare time at home. I like the fact that it is simple in looks, but still has great sound and features. I was looking to get away from the digital features that was going bad in my previous amp, and this fits the bill.
A Marshall produces the best tones, period. This 30 watt wonder has four channels; clean, crunch, OD1 and OD2. There are two types of reverb and five effects. You can combine reverb-plate or spring- with one of the five effects. There are line options for iPhone and a line out for recording or headphones. The tones are incredible and live up to the Marshall name. I play my Fender American Special Stratocaster through this and most of the listeners cannot make out whether it is a recording or a live performance. This combination is that good.
I have had many Marshalls, from tube amps to solid state. Our very first Marshall was an MG15DFX that was noisy and made a loud popping sound when switching off but it had this great lead tone that was true Marshall. Then I had an MG50FX an MG2FX and now the MG30CFX. This latest amp definitely shows the evolution of the species. It has a great lead tone that is even good for playing with an electric acoustic. The crunch and lead tones are very close to those of a good tube amp. For the price these amps are a steal. There is simply nothing from Blackstar, or Orange or Vox in this price range that even comes close. Value for money wise for a practice amp they are the best.
Needed a small Marshall practice amp, and this fits the bill. Great sounds, 4 channels, foot switchable, effects and user patches. Works particularly well with my Les Paul, and allows me to reproduce the sounds of my favourite players with relative ease. Excellent for home use and just about copes with a low key band rehearsal. Great value if you want a taster of that Marshall vibe.

Now I have a DSL 50 (more versatile) with a 1960A cab-reaaly loud and powerful but terrific sound. Band mates say; "Wow is it loud, but sounds great." I have the DSL 40 watt combo (became the Haze, then went back to the 40 much the same as it was.) Tube sound, celestion speaker sometimes can breakdown. So bought the Mg 30 as a smaller practice amp, backup and wanted to play around with efx. Very impressed when I got it home. A little light on bottom end as one would expect but overall impressed with very nice clean sound and full on lead sound with delay very nice.
