Purchased a VR Oculus 2 for my family. Packed perfectly in the box, very secure. Easy set up, fit headset comfy to your head with the adjustable straps, there is sponge around the eye piece (if it’s blurry or fogs up, it’s not tight enough, so readjust) you will be guided through a set up process, and you will need a Facebook account and download the Meta app, it’s honestly really easy. The headset itself lasts around an hour to an hour n half, I find this very acceptable as it is very tiring and you do get hot. Charge time is around 3-5 hours for a full 100%. Overall I’m very pleased with the purchase and the family enjoy it too, from game play to the graphics its is great. Side note …. Make sure you have plenty of room you can set up a barrier HOWEVER if you are spooked an run forward the barrier won’t stop you from furniture… I myself ran into my cupboard which hurt but did find the funny side.

I’m the first to admit, I had my reservations, but although I’m old, and disabled to boot, I don’t think you ever get too old to try something new, especially something like this that lets you experience things that you’ve never experienced, without having to leave the comfort of your home. You don’t have to climb mountains in VR, but with this headset you can if you want to. You can come pretty close to the experience without actually plummeting towards the earth when you jump and miss your handholds. The view are spectacular in that particular game, but I had to return it because although it says you can play it sitting, I couldn’t really do it from a wheelchair. That’s not a problem, though, because if you purchase most games or apps you have the option to return it within 14 days, providing you haven’t spent over a certain amount of time using it. But there’s plenty that even someone as limited in physical ability as I am can enjoy in VR, thanks to this fully self contained headset. With the Quest 2, you don’t need to be tethered to an expensive gaming computer, and there are things that anyone can find in VR that will amaze and astonish even the most unflappable person. Right now, there are a wide variety of games and apps, some free, that no matter your age or interests, you will be able to find things that make you say, “Wow!”. You can get an app that allows you to go anywhere in the world, similar to using Google Earth, except that you find yourself being able to look around as if you were there at a famous landmark or your childhood home. You can take guided tours to places you probably didn’t know existed, or take a tour of the Space Station and see how the astronauts live and work there, go swimming with whales or watch gorillas play in a jungle. You can meditate, play musical instruments, meet people with similar interests, take courses, draw and paint in 2D and 3D, play golf or dance, surf the internet, or one of my favorite things so far, sit in a movie theater and get the feeling of truly watching a movie on a big screen while actually being comfortable at home. I know that sounds unusual, but for someone like me who hasn’t been able to go to a movie theater in many years, it’s a truly awesome experience. I haven’t had my Quest 2 long enough yet, to convince friends and family to join me in VR, but if they do, we can watch movies or play games together in a variety of settings. For me, the neatest game I’ve discovered yet is VR Fishing! It’s so relaxing to fish in real places in Japan, South Korea, or the Northwestern USA, in a variety of weather conditions, from shore or in boats, and to catch fish and put them in your Aquarium in your fish lodge. It’s a nearly magical experience to feel as if you are truly getting a nibble to catching a fish that looks so real that you can forget for a moment that you’re at home, and you feel like you’re actually sitting in a wooden boat in the rain and mist at a lake in the mountains. VR is awesome for everyone, but especially if you or someone you know loves to travel or fish, or do any number of things but you find yourself unable to enjoy such activities anymore due to physical limitations or even monetary restrictions. VR is a great way to expand possibilities beyond what’s easily available. If I were younger and healthier, my dream job would be to bring VR to as many people as possible, but especially to elderly and home bound or disabled folks whose lives are getting narrower and restricted. VR can expand your environment in ways that have never been possible before. Quest 2 is relatively affordable, easy to use, and it will only get better as more people expand their lives into the VR environment. I was surprised at how easy it was get started, and I was able to do most of it right from within VR. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. It’s a bit of a money pit. When you buy the Quest 2, you get a headset, two controllers, and a charger cord. That’s all. The controllers are battery powered. If you want rechargeable controllers, you’ll likely need a charger base with rechargeable batteries. You’ll almost certainly have to get a head strap because the one that comes with the Quest 2 headset is minimal and it feels like the headset is going to fall off no matter how much you tighten it when you put it on. If you want to balance it better and give you more playtime, you’ll need a head strap with a battery. Unless you invest in a charging station, you’ll probably want a case, and lens covers because you can’t allow sunlight to hit the the lenses because that could burn out headset. There are other helpful accessories, such as controller covers, lens cloths and covers, possibly a fan to keep your glasses from fogging if you wear glasses, or you can buy prescription lenses here on Amazon, or other accessories. Some are more necessary than others, and depending of what you use your headset for, you may not need every possible accessory. At this moment, as fun as VR is, it’s still in it’s infancy, but it’s usefulness to others besides video gamers is growing every day. Meta Quest 2 is probably the most useful and affordable stand alone VR system available, and there’s plenty to be found in it. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what it’s capable of doing, and I think that even old folks like me, who might be initially reluctant to try it, can find plenty of awesome things to do if we can be persuaded to try it out. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t buy one the first time I saw it, because it would have made my pandemic isolation a lot less isolating. I wish that something like this would have been available when my dad was confined to bed and a wheelchair after his stroke many years ago, because he loved to travel and learn new things, and VR opens up the world to exploration without even leaving home. With the Quest 2, exploration is easy and fun. If you’re thinking of trying it out, for yourself or a gift for someone young or old or in between, there’s never been a better time or a better and more affordable device than the Meta Quest 2. [Edit] [Addition] I recently got new glasses, and while it comes with a spacer for glasses, I was using it without glasses because since I had cataract surgery and I thought my vision was good enough without wearing glasses. Although my distance correction was minimal, nearly the smallest size available, I got a great Black Friday deal on prescription lenses that snap right on to the regular lenses. This turned out to be one of the best accessories I've bought for my Quest 2. I highly recommend getting these, as long as your distance correction is a negative number. I hadn't realized how much I was settling for by not wearing my glasses because I found it uncomfortable. Now my vision is really crisp, and if someone else wants to try my headset, the lenses snap right off so they don't have to look through my prescription. I'm still enjoying my headset nearly every day. It's even got Amazon Prime Video available to watch on a big screen, which is a favorite of mine as I'm a Prime member.

Caution, causes hives and other problems

My son was playing on the quest 2 with gloves on his hands! I asked him why are you wearing gloves while playing on the Vr? he said because he get hives on him hands and face and arms! I brushed it off thinking maybe it’s his allergies from dust or something but No that wasn’t the case. I eventually googled why am I getting hives from playing on the meta quest Vr headset and it popup very alarming claims and recalls! I’m so upset with Walmart because I feel like they should’ve at least warned us! Now I’m starting to think my other son face broke out from his quest 3 and that’s not cool and my daughter face looked bruised it started with red indent marks that turned dark and my son other son face look like he has eczema on his cheek he never breaks out on his face! ... MoreMy son was playing on the quest 2 with gloves on his hands! Do Not Purchase from This 3 party seller!! (USED)

i ordered not paying attention to the Seller not being Walmart. Walmart was the shipper, but not seller and I was sent a very used headset. The headset came packaged just like new, but upon charging it i noticed ALL the blemishes, and deep scratches and gashes on the front, heck all side, even discolorations, but around the charging port and headphone jack it was AWFUL! That's how i really noticed because you could tell someone had been repeatedly plugging in the headset and headphones and was constantly missing the ports and totally scratched up all around both openings, the front as though it had been laid face down becoming scratched. There was even oil like discoloration in areas. IT LOOKED LIKE A KIDS OLD REFURBISHED HEADSET! My current 2 was giving me problems so i got this NEW as a backup for when mines went out, but i returned this NEW headset and just went ahead and got a Quest 3 DIRECTLY FROM WALMART so i know its new..AND the 3 from Walmart is in EXCELLENT condition no scuffs or scratches.

As a disabled mom, I was so excited to find that I could still play just as well as the rest from my wheelchair! Sometimes it can be hard to find things that are both fun and accessible to our whole family, but this is one we all enjoy (especially watching senior member of our family experience VR for the first time- priceless! ) Paralyzed from the knees down, it was amazing to feel like I was walking/standing again. Great- Seven Y/O. Few cons. Not device related.

This was a great birthday gift for my seven year old son’s birthday. He loves it. He has purchased several games. His sisters 10 %26 8 years old also play with it sometimes and enjoy it as well. My husband and myself have played with it and it was fun. I believe it is fun for ALL ages. However my only concern or “con” would be the battery life is horrible, yes we let it charge all the way up before we set it up or messed with it, we charge it every single night and it dies multiple times a day and we have to charge it a few times during the day even though we charged it all night long. Only other con would be please be careful if you have a child that has regular headaches or migraines. It’s not really how I thought it would be. VR still has a very long way to go, pixels are quite apparent and distracting for me so it’s not as immersive as i have been lead to believe. Battery life is not the best. It lasts 2 hours before the charge runs out, and it takes two hours to charge back up to around 90%. Field of view isn’t the best either. It’s like having a giant scuba mask attached to your face, some people can ignore this but for me, it’s another unwelcome distraction. The meta store itself is overpriced for what you get, there’s some okay free stuff but it didn’t really blow my mind. I was really looking forward to using big screen VR to stream movies, but the picture quality is terrible, all you can see is pixels. It’s not talked about enough, but the pixels are horrid.

However my main problem with this product and the one reason that makes me give this product 4 stars is the controllers needing AA batteries. While it doesn’t seem like such like a big deal at first with each controller lasting 5ish days with each taking 1 AA battery this gets just about as annoying as owning an Xbox controller, however this problem is easily avoidable with the side purchase of 2-4 rechargeable AA batteries and a AA battery charger, just two batteries work but if you don’t want to ever worry buy 4 keep two charging at all times and use the charged ones for the controllers. Besides that the product as a VR headset that’s wireless and comes with built in audio and mic for the cheap price VR wise at $300 is in my opinion one of if not the best option out there!

I started out with the Quest 2, but eventually upgraded to the Q3, which is currently double the price of the Q2. Theres talk of a "lite" version of the Q3 coming out soon for around $200, so if you are interested in VR but dont have a lot to spend, I'd wait until the end of the year to see if the Q3 Lite comes out. Scam Alert

I purchased two of these devices from Macy’s. Less than 60 days both devices failed to work. I contacted MetaQuest to discuss warranty services. MetaQuest failed to honor the warranty request because they stated the devices were purchased through a third party vendor. MetaQuest stated the third party vendor requested a refund on all of their devices and the warranty is no longer valid as the vendor received a full refund. MetaQuest stated that the third party vendor would have to provide a refund or repair the defective devices. I contacted Macy’s and have been getting the run around for over 90 days now. Macy’s states they are not responsible even though I paid for the devices on my Macy’s credit card.
