I spent weeks researching for a new vacuum that would pick up dark cat hair & human hair from our cream carpets. Our old 'Henry' simply wasn't up to the job. I opted for the Miele Cat and Dog Blizzard after reading all the positive reviews and my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner!I LOVE this machine. Works straight out the box, lighter than our old one to carry up stairs, so easy and hygenic to empty, and best of all the suction power is fabulous...takes up all the hair in a couple of passes! It now takes a fraction of the time to vacuum and my arms no longer ache! The fact you can use the foot switch to turn it on and off and to retract the power lead is another plus feature. The vacuum cleaner itself seems to work well with good suction and a useful range of attachments. The first machine plug attachment broke and the machine was replaced by Miele. More recently, the Turbotec head (the one with the brush) stopped working and of course this was on the replacement machine. I don't consider just over two years' usage reasonable in light of the good brand name and high cost of the item.JL won't assist unless there is an official engineer report to show the head is broken. This is a standard approach when a whole machine needs replacing/refunding, However, it seems unreasonable in this particular situation, given that the cost (to the customer) of the engineer report will far exceed the cost of purchasing a replacement part. Miele do not do service visits for vacuums. The replacement part still costs around one quarter of the overall machine price, so as the customer I am left with a product that doesn't work and no recourse from JL that won't be more expensive than paying for a replacement part myself. It's disappointing.

My partner and I both really like this vacuum, it massively outperforms the one its replacing and cleans noticeably better. The Miele CX1 Comfort XL (In Lotus white) is a fantastic vacuum, from opening the box immediately you know this is a quality product. The main vacuum itself is a little larger than expected but then this is the XL model so I can't complain. The hose length is perfect for our use all round the house and the selection of heads all work very well. When using the vacuum, you may notice that the controls on the handgrip have no cables or connectors in the tubes, this is because they are wireless and under the controls is a cell battery (CR2032, similar to a lot of car key fobs) used to power the 3 buttons. On/Off single button, and up/down rocker for power setting. This wireless method is very well thought out, as it means you have no issues using different attachments, within reason any standard vacuum addon should work and does not need specific proprietary connections. The performance of this was shockingly good, the amount this picks up and appears in the waste collection is incredible. I am not sure my carpets have ever been this clean. Emptying is easy and quick to do, and the comfort clean feature is unique. 'Automagically' or manually if you wish, the vacuum realises the air throughput is subpar and it starts a self-clean cycle which turns the vacuum off then runs through a cleaning process which I believe clears the dust off the filters and returns it to optimum performance.

The good:- Easy to use extendable wand.- Powerful suction.- Relatively quiet even at high suction, and one is able to moderate suction (and sound level) over a wide range to suit everything from carpets to sheers.- Electrical cord is long and the rewind mechanism is smooth.- Suction hose is long enough and swivels at the handle end to avoid knots.- The disposable sacs are easy to manage.- Controls are easy to understand. The less good:- It is not the lightest machine to carry up steps when vacuuming a carpeted staircase. The weight to power ratio is good, but the weight is still there.- You have to choose whether to be able to rest it vertically and carry around the extra wand attachment or use the tool attachment mount on the base when it is horizontal.- ... It does not control the main vacuum motor so you have to find that switch at the bottom of the main unit when it is vertical. Only a minor nuisance when it is horizontal.
After doing some research, I decided to take the plunge and purchase the rather expensive Miele Blizzard cat and dog vacuum cleaner. As soon as I took it out the box I was impressed by the build quality. It came with a standard floor head for carpet and hard floor, and a turbo head for getting more stubborn doirt and hairs from carpets. I was also pleasantly surprised it came with a extended crevice tool for reaching hard areas. The handle is adjustable and I have never found one that long enough for my height; until now.The machine has variable suction power which is adjusted by a dial. Ideal for cleaning delicate curtains/blinds and full power for rugs and thick carpets. I have yet found the need to use full power because there is plenty of suction even at lower ... I was able to vacuum my house quicker than any other vacuum I've used because it works extremely well.It isn't particularly light and be careful balancing it on stairs. There are no other negatives I can think of. I highly recommend this vacuum as it looks like it will last a long time.
For 30 years my main hoover has been a Miele, they are usually GREAT. I needed a new hoover so upgraded from my usual C3. I wouldn't need hoover bags anymore!I really wanted to like this... not least as it was expensive. This hoover is very heavy, cumbersome to drag about. Emptying it can be messy. The round attachment brush (which I use the most) is not stowed on board you have to carry it around separately. My cord won't pull back in to the hoover (I've only had the hoover since March 2024). For practical carrying by the handle, the pipe does not fit along the body of the hoover anymore, so you can no longer carry the whole hoover in one hand. It also makes for messier storing as upright storage has no pipe clip in.It's just badly designed and really ... MoreFor 30 years my main hoover has been a Miele, they are usually GREAT. My last vacuum lasted 20 years and was brilliant and not made by Miele. I read every review I could find and the Miele was best rated but having owned it for nearly a year I would say it is the worst vacuum I have had in a very long time:- Very hard work to push the handle about (and I am strong and fit)- Feeble vacuum performance (you have to keep going over the same bit of carpet)- Tiny dust catcher thingy made of cheap plastic- HeavyBut the primary issue is the handle - beautiful chrome and stainless steel held together by stupid bits of plastic that snap in a heartbeat. I contacted Miele support to complain and they sent me the parts catalogue to buy new parts. I've only used it about 10 times and this is not acceptable. I will not be buying anything ... I have been loyal to this brand now for over 20 years. I have owned two of this particular model, the last of which I purchased last year. These vacuums are priced higher than most, and I have found that they are worth it. However this model has a design fault that I have now experienced twice, which makes the hoover practically useless. The turbo brush is the most useful head for me as I have a long haired german shepherd dog. When working correctly this has done the job, but this turbo brush has an updated design making it impossible to get to the roller brush to remove hair wrapped around it. I purchased a small pair of nail scissors for the job, and cleaned the roller after every use. Because you now can't dismantle the turbo brush, this job takes a good five ... When working correctly this has done the job, but this turbo brush has an updated design making it impossible to get to the roller brush to remove hair wrapped around it. I purchased a small pair of nail scissors for the job, and cleaned the roller after every use. Because you now can't dismantle the turbo brush, this job takes a good five minutes or so and is more fiddly than it needs to be (the previous model was much easier as you could dismantle the head and clear it in less than half the time). The final straw for me was the failure of the brush rotation for the second time, rendering the vacuum useless to me as without it any hair on the carpet will not come up easily and suction is reduced. The first time this happened to me i bought a new turbo brush head from Miele, which did not recitify the issue. I then bought the same model again thinking that it was just down to wear and tear, but it happened after only 15 months or so. There are good elements to this product; good build quality, ease of use, you can wash all of the cylinders and filters, it has a long cable. As it was under guarantee, I decided to return it and try a different make altogether. Unfortunately I probably won't go back to Miele.
I had a shark pet hoover which I'd had for 5 years which got to the point it was nowhere near as good as it used to be. Was going to replace with another shark pet hoover but came across this one. Knowing the reputation for quality with Miele decided to pay a bit extra and get a better product. On first use the comparison to the old shark and this new Miele the difference was amazing! I hoovered up using the shark then picked up what it left behind with the Miele. Couldn't believe what it picked up! Unfortunately after about 5/6 months the Miele was as good as my 5 yr old shark. The suction doesn't appear to be anywhere near what it was when new, it practically sucked the carpet off the floor!I've had this almost 9 month now and I'll probably end up having to ... Having to go over and over and over the same spot to pick up a bit of fluff/dog hair.Really not what I expected with Miele brand.I do have a gsd that moults quite a bit but have found pet hair is way more challenging for a 9 month Miele than a 5 yr old shark.Disappointed in the capability of the product considering this is supposed to be specifically designed for pet hair.
