Milwaukee’s Packout System just keeps getting better and better. This 3 drawer tool box has a 50 lbs. weight capacity which really allows you to put all kinds of different things inside the drawers. A locking security bar helps to make sure the drawers stay shut during transport whether in the truck or to your job location. You can also padlock the drawers for security. With metal ball bearing drawers slides, the drawers open and close with great smoothness. Also included are quick adjust dividers which allow you to customize the drawer layout. For the most part I like all my small accessories, screws, bolts, hardware, electrical supplies in my packout organizers so I never tried to put those items in these drawers. I think if they made the dividers like the organizers where you can pull out the tray I may go that route. But I use my drawers without the dividers. I really like being able to put all my batteries into the drawer and I am able to fit 8 M18 8.0 HigH Output batteries, 2 M12 6.0 batteries, and 1 M12 2.0 battery inside one drawers. I also like to have all my different bit cases in the drawers as well. I have tried loading up some smaller tools, staple gun, drywall cutout tool, rotary tool, obviously these are all very small tools. You aren’t going to be able to put a nailer or sawzall into any of these drawers. I think of all the different ways I have used this drawer, I like loading up batteries, bits cases, and cutting blades of all sorts. I have found this to be the most functional for what I do. It’s great to be able to access all the items in the drawers and still have more boxes on top. After buying the first one, I ended up purchasing 2 more and also 3 of the 2 drawer tool box. Totally awesome addition to my Milwaukee collection!!

Metal lock bar latch broke two months in. Call the 1-800 number to get the problem fixed and they said I had to take it to a Milwaukee service center. Inconvenient but doable so I drive 40 minutes to my nearest Milwaukee service center. Once there they tell me that they can't do anything for me as there are no available parts for the box other than the dividers. When I ask for a replacement he repeats himself about no parts are available. What's the point of a warranty if it doesn't do anything? So I'm still using the box. Aggravating because I have to keep something in the lock loop now to keep the drawers from opening all the time. I have owned it for about 7 months now and it barely gets any use with lightweight stuff in it. Drawer bottoms are bowed. Dividers ... MoreMetal lock bar latch broke two months in. I just spent a chunk of money to buy the Milwaukee Tool PACKOUT 3-Drawer Tool Box. Which, seems like a very good product. However I am beyond shocked to find it only comes with enough plastic inserts to install into ONE draw. I don't expect this sort of corner cutting and "cheaping out" from a supplier like Milwaukee. I own more than 10 Milwaukee products and they all have been top notch and highly reccomended. This is the first one where I am very dissapointed. Yes, it's "only" a few bits of plastic. A few bits that you now want me to buy so I can fully use the other two drawers in the unit ? Incrediblly bad decision not to include enough for all drawers.
This Box was to be kept in my Pickup. I own several apartment buildings and need a box to store various materials to make repairs at the properties. I felt the overall construction of the box was good and the design seemed to address my needs. When I got it home I realized that Milwaukee only provides dividers for one drawer in the box. I have to ask Milwaukee, How can you sell a three drawer box and only provide dividers for one drawer. BTW this is not a cheap box. For what I paid for it I would expect that dividers would be provided for all drawers. One more thing, on the tag on the box it highlights all of the benefits this box provides but no where on the tag does it tell the consumer that dividers are only provided for one drawer. Great tool box! After having a couple stacks of Packout mid-size boxes, this 3-drawer was the "ah-ha!" moment for me of not having to unstack everything to get at my tools. I haven't seen the sagging drawer issues others reported. Overall, I'm happy with it, my only gripe, like everyone else, is only getting dividers for one drawer. Come on, it's like $1 worth of plastic. Throw your customers a bone. I do wish the dividers were hinged or something too (especially for the price!) so it would be possible to have more versatility. Also, if you're buying at the big box store, make sure you have the pack of dividers inside before purchase, I've seen them missing, probably from people who want dividers for all the drawers and don't want to pay extra.
I really wanted this to be the solution for toting tools around for junkyard runs. I've had one of these units for about two months now. Right out of the gate, these drawers were phenomenal, I love how much room there is for my wrenches and screwdrivers, and it was perfect for my rolling toolbox to tote around. I feel I'm on the "light-use" end of this drawer set, I do not open them often, and when I do, I use the same force I have for other drawer solutions.About a month in of use, one of the retainers along the bottom (that the lock bar tucks into to get out of the way) cracked and a part of it broke off, allowing the left side of the bar to slide completely out of the unit. I was disgruntled by this, but blew it off as I could still get the locking bar in ... MoreI really wanted this to be the solution for toting tools around for junkyard runs. I was disgruntled by this, but blew it off as I could still get the locking bar in place, and it still kept the draws shut in transit. The thing that really broke my spirits was, unlatching the lock bar this evening, the red latch that holds the lock bar in its locked position.. snapped. It no longer holds spring tension on the bar, and simply falls down. Upon closer inspection, the spring mechanism for this latch is PLASTIC. There is a long portion of plastic molded to the latch, inside the unit, that flexes, and creates spring tension. This portion of the latch snapped off when I depressed it, and there is no way I can see for adding a spring to fix this.I REALLY want to love these drawers. I really do. The implementation of the locking bar feels really cheap, and worse yet, it does not appear to be user serviceable. If you are looking for a mobile drawer solution that's rugged, this is not it.Considering I can pick up an all-metal service cart from Harbor freight for less than $100 more that has all the wheels and means to move around on its own, and have purchased one in the past, and it's still like new, is a terrible thought to have considering who made this 3-drawer set here. Were it not for this locking bar, these drawers would be a home run. I really love the drawers themselves, they roll nice, they hold what I need, but without that locking bar, I run the risk of the drawers rolling out on their own. This bar is the only thing that holds them secure.I would love to see Milwaukee revisit this packout module and really reinforce the locking bar, or implement some other means to secure the drawers closed.
So much potential, but falls short of Milwaukee “Premium, Tough, and Innovative” standards!I had to exchange the first 3 drawer tool box because the third drawer was dragging on the metal frame support underneath. It got to the point that the rails started grinding and the bottom drawer was unusable. The contents of this drawer included, 2 adjustable wrenches, a breaker bar, torque wrench, and two ratchets. How could this be too much weight for the drawer?I’m on my second one, and realized and I cannot put more that a few feathers in it before it starts to grind again. Overall, EXTREMELY light duty, and not very usable. Takes up a lot of space to only contain a few things per drawer.Hopefully a Gen 2 version addresses these issues. Overall, I’m disappointed in ... I bought 3 of these units thinking the drawers were more user friendly. Not having to dig around a big box to find your smaller tools is very nice. However, 3 weeks after buying my last one, the lock bar hinge clip, on the bottom of the box, cracked and broke off. Like many others I have now come to find out. This would appear to be an easy replacement part as it is a snap in piece on the bottom of the box. However, Milwaukee does not offer this piece for repair. This box becomes utterly useless with this locking bar not functioning correctly. So, what should be an easy $2.00 fix becomes a $150 throw away! Very frustrating. I would not recommend this product to anybody until they offer the spare replacement part.
What's with not including dividers for all drawers? This is not an inexpensive box, it should have dividers for all drawers. The dividers are also not well thought as you don't have an option to create a long storage space in the drawer since the long dividers only work for the short direction. The PackOut system overall feels poorly planned. Trays from half size boxes should fit into full size, and in the top of the crate. Dividers should be be able to be moved between boxes. The cups from the organizer trays should fit in the drawers of this tool box. A true system would have parts working across the solutions, instead the only "system" is stack-ability.
