Very happy overall, coming up to a month now i've been using this. Felt the handle starting to flex quite a lot, difficult to steer when pushing a tall stack due to the flexing, have to steer using the side rails of the drawers which is annoying as it makes it a 2 handed job. I checked the weight of the full stack and it was close to 90kg, the spec states it can handle 250lbs (113kg) and its all terrain. Bit skeptical of that, ive lifted the stack out of a shipping container on three occasions with a pal, which is roughly a 5 inch step onto tarmac ground, didnt slam or drop at all and now one of the wheels squeeks, but no visible buckle or signs of bend on the bar, so i'm wondering am i going to regret switching to " nothing but heavy duty" tool boxes. Most similar mobile tool storage systems also offer telescoping handles, wheels, waterproof seals, and a way to attach a lock, the main distinguishing factor is weight capacity and Milwaukee’s PACKOUT system is 2, 3 and even 4 times the capacity of the others, that’s significant.Toolbox Attachment Method: Another major difference between the PACKOUT system when compared to the competition is the attach/detach method used. Milwaukee’s PACKOUT uses a very secure one handed slide and lock configuration that is both simple and strong. As I mentioned you only need one hand to attach or remove individual components and because of this its fast and efficient. It’s hard to realize just how intuitive it is until you use it and especially if you have ever tried the others this is a really excellent design feature.Toolbox Construction Design: Another significant difference is the design of the tool box portion itself, these are not simply a box shape with wheels, they really worked hard to strengthen inherent weak points like the corners. I can’t help but think that Milwaukee’s design which incorporates the aluminum corner grabs was more about constructing a stronger box than about giving the users a grab spot. One of the weakest parts of these types of plastic composite tool boxes are the corners, look at how these are constructed and you can see a lot of effort went into “beefing” up the corners, by rounding them, adding the corner “stiffener” which forms the back of the exterior grab channel in the corners. There’s just a massive amount of material in these corners used in various ways all aiding in, no doubt, strengthening these boxes for the long term use of industry professionals and DIYer’s alike, gotta love it! No I am convinced that the grab handles IMHO were added after they settled on an extremely durable corner design and I think it was brilliant, not only does it offer a grab point for users but it protects from impacts on the more vulnerable corners.Other Great Features: The telescoping handle is very sturdy and seems very well built and easily able to handle heavy loads, it’s simple to operate and provides a long thick handle for easy gripping and maneuvering, just well done.Another thoughtful feature on the wheeled unit is the upper and lower wire hooks intended to be attachment points for bungee straps so you can secure non-PACKOUT gear or materials right to your PACKOUT wheeled cart for ease of transport, nice touch.I have mounted Milwaukee’s “Tick” locating devices onto the under side of the lids in a spot specifically designed for them enabling me to keep track of my PACKOUT mobile tool boxes, how convenient!Frankly the Milwaukee PACKOUT mobile tool storage system is in a class all it’s own, far above the so called competition. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and have already recommended it to friends and relatives. It is more expensive than other brands but you get what you pay for.

I had been using my Packout rolling cart for two seasons of mountain bike racing mechanical support, stacking and unstacking boxes and realized that I both loved the cart and hated it at the same time. Accessing the bottom cart was always a chore. I found a tote with a locking lid that just barely fit inside so I'd only have to unstack once, but the tote itself took up more of a footprint than just the cart. I wanted a solution that I could work out of directly without any extra work. I bought the 3 box packout system from HD. Its handy. I store a lot of tools and supplies. I like how the trays are interchangeable with the center box. The slender or top box will not open if it connected to the lower box directly.The bad. This particular box uses the plastic frame as a hinge locking mechanism. If you look closely at the hinges, there is a tab molded into the lid that rubs against a molded tab on the body of the tool box. This tab holds the lid up when opened. On my box, this caused the tool box to tear. Now, it accumulates water and my tools are rusting and getting mold growth on them. I am in the landscape construction industry and sometimes work in the rain and snow. My truck doesn't have a tonneau cover on it because of the amount of tools I ... I have emailed Milwaukee's customer service twice. That is the only option given on the website. A warranty, and a company for that matter, is only as good as it will respond to its customer's inquiries.

Moves easily around job-site, wheels are wide enough not to bog down in packed gravel, well balanced when loaded and stacked. I love that you can use a cable bicycle lock to lock them together, and to the tie downs in your truck. Very well made, thick plastic, impact resistant, handle collapses and extends easily with the push of a very wide easy to reach button that you can press with gloves on. I use the small half size clear top hardware tote on the center console of my truck with a 20oz packout coffee cup attached, and a 30oz cold drink cup, solving several problems with hydration / caffeine storage in my over packed truck, and they will NOT spill, and can't be knocked over with my elbow while driving. They don't hold ice as long as my RTIC tumbler, but it's worth the sacrifice. The ONLY negative I can think of after, really trying, is that these are so darn expensive for what you get. I have purchased several pieces including the radio, and I love them all though.... So, I at least, am willing to pay the price. I highly recommend the Packout systems for any of their many and varied types, if you buy one of these, it is very unlikely you will be disappointed. I keep looking for them online, and buying pretty much anything that goes on sale at a significant discount, and I keep finding more uses for them....
For this price the hole thing should be designed better. The bottom rolling box needs to have a 2 drawer option, along with this box option. For better use, 2 drawer on bottom, 2 or 3 drawer in the middle, and a top open box on top. Then people won't have to tear it apart every time they want to get at something. Instead and knowing this, Milwaukee wants to sell a grossly over priced rolling cart in order to configure properly. It wouldn't be all that bad if the cart was around $100-$120 like it should be.The lack of quick release for the handle in order for the rolling box to fit under a truck box cover, is also kinda poor for this company. Other cheaper units, have quick release .
I’m an electricians apprentice and I just received the three piece stack with the rolling box, the large tool chest, and the crate. The Packout crate and the large tool chest are fantastic. The rolling tool box however, at least the one I got, and the ones at my local Home Depot, has an issue. The lids at the back, has a tab on each side that allow the box lid to stay open. Once you finally get it open, it does stay open, but the fit of the lid bracket at the bag and the spot on the handle base where it holds the lid up, the space is so tight that and 3 different ones at the store broke on one of the back bracket, and it was always the same one. Photos attached. Honestly I love the space and how it’s going to help me be more productive, but the lid shouldn’t break ... To be honest, I forced myself into this box as a way to get a mobile setup for my automotive tools for when I head to the racetrack. Wish I would've investigated more, as it's not really a user friendly setup for the guy who's wrenching on cars..as a mobile box I was disappointed that the main rolling box doesn't have the ability to be latched down into another packout item.. would be a great way convince me to keep the $30 bracket I bought .. to secure my packout down in the truck..the handle isn't low enough to close a tonneau cover over it, even though it can be..if the second box is the regular (I guess?) sized toolbox, you can't open it on the stack..this came as a huge disappointment because I wanted it to store my "extra" socket set..which is pretty ... Wish I would've investigated more, as it's not really a user friendly setup for the guy who's wrenching on cars..as a mobile box I was disappointed that the main rolling box doesn't have the ability to be latched down into another packout item.. would be a great way convince me to keep the $30 bracket I bought .. to secure my packout down in the truck..the handle isn't low enough to close a tonneau cover over it, even though it can be..if the second box is the regular (I guess?) sized toolbox, you can't open it on the stack..this came as a huge disappointment because I wanted it to store my "extra" socket set..which is pretty heavy, and a pain to take on and off the stack .. especially when the plan was for it to be the only one I usually needed on the rolling box that was supposed to be carrying my htiw, ratchet, grinder, etc..also I was hoping I was going to be able to transfer the little storage containers from the smaller box to the bigger box, since apparently they're 30 bucks or so worth of the cost of the box, and not an option I could do away with..I only bought so I could use the locking bracket under the radio in the racecar for music and GPS, plus cell charging abilities while out on cruises.... plus it seemed like a lightweight solution to pack what I need for small breakdowns on cruises ..but the justification for a $330 radio, in my mind, was the versatility to easily secure the whole setup in the truck, interchange small parts so I don't have to carry a ton of boxes, and be able to get to my tools somewhat quickly, without having to take the packout apart, even when it's to open the only box on top of the roller...3 stars because it's a quality setup for someone...i'm going to try to make it work for a test run or two before the store return policy runs out.. if not, guess I'll end up rigging up my own setup ..
The Packout Rolling Storage Box was among the first in my personal collection of recent Milwaukee products. What I quickly discovered is I have to unpack everything to get to whatever is inside this toolbox, which can be a huge hassle. It would have been a much better option with something that opened from the front. Additionally, there are several design flaws that need improvement. One of them is the inability to easily remove the handle to easily stow the storage box in a trunk. There are aftermarket kits available for the conversion, but this should be built in. Another issue is the complexity in removing the corner rails to add an accessory. For heavens sake, make it easier!. Finally, the U bar handle on the bottom. Allow it to pull out a little to seat an inverted 4' A frame, a plank, collapsible scaffolding, etc. Maybe make a bar locking mechanism on it to lock in the top packout piece to it, instead of locking each piece individually. Sadly, I do not use the box much. It has become the box of things I want to have with me just in case, but seldom need.
I don’t care if you post this review or not Milwaukee I love the PACKOUT out system and the bottom rolling trunk is a good start but you need to make a new bottom rolling trunk that is accessible from the front. Having to unstack everything to open the lid to retrieve one tool is a pain. Especially with this set up in my van. It’s not a problem when I’m already rolling that stack out but sometimes I just need one tool from that bottom trunk and having to unstack all of the boxes inside of my van just to get to the bottom open and pull out the tool restack is a real pain. I run Milwaukee exclusively out of my work van but at the end of the day it’s about workflow saving time saving energy saving money etc. we have all been asking for this for a long time show that you actually listen to the people in the trades and give us a new bottom box that is accessible from the front without having to in stack every single box that’s on top of it how is that practical how does that make sense please Milwaukee. It’s not gonna look good if flex beat you to this. Because I can promise you it’s coming. I included some pictures and a picture of what I have to do to make this set up work. Medium and large box is not a problem I can open those up while they’re still attached and stacked.
