I bought the color Bordeaux. The ends of my hair are dyed a ruby red, I got this to maintain the color without having to go to the salon as often. This has worked out so well for me, I use it 1-2x a week and my color looks as fresh as it did when leaving the salon. First, I put it on dry hair, I separate my hair into thin strands, and distribute it while wearing gloves and sometimes I will blend it in with a comb. It says leave it in for 5 min before rinsing with water but I found that 30min leaves a vibrant color. It also leaves your hair very soft after a wash. I don't think this works well in natural hair, as the top layers of my hair are a medium brown and it only provided a sheer tint if I accidentally get some on it. I have medium fine texture hair and am of Asian decent. My natural hair color is dark chocolate brown. This did not work for me. At first I didn’t use gloves so my hand was stained red from this. It was difficult to work with to spread evenly. It was recommended that I use a comb but it wasn’t spreadable and felt like the product was absorbed instantly. I started with the Bordeaux mask on my medium, brown hair with grown out highlights. The bordeaux turned all the old bleached parts bright Ronald McDonald red. To be fair, the packaging says to not use on blonde hair. I then used the Cocoa mask on top of it and it toned everything down and blended well as it faded. With more experimentation, my favorite combination is now 2 parts Cocoa to 2 parts Copper to 1 part Bordeaux. I will phase out the Bordeaux once it's gone. My hair is a warm, natural red now. I don't see how the other masks could achieve anything natural looking on hair like mine without the addition of Cocoa. My hair is definitely healthier and happier with the mask and all Moroccan Oil products.

I it didn’t show up on your dark hair it’s because ta too dark. If it’s patchy, you applied it patchy or you have multiple levels of lift, layers of colour and/or a mix of treated and untreated hair. The colour chart says what colours are recommended for which so probably use that. Or better, ask your stylist which one you should use.
