I was excited when I saw the specs for this pad. Some online reviews said it was comfortable enough, but there were more comfortable pads out there. This is absolutely true in my case as well. Having used and currently own many of the “top” pads this one was just not quite at the comfort level I’d prefer. Warmth is great, it could be used as an all season pad with a Nemo switchback foam pad underneath for all but frigid temperatures. Laying on my back there was some noticeable stiffness through the lower back area. Laying on the side was better, but not quite enough flex to let your hip sink in and align your back resulting in slight lower back pain the next morning. Deflating the pad a bit fixed this, but then a cold spot was apparent around the hips where it sunk ... MoreI was excited when I saw the specs for this pad. The Big Agnes Rapide SL, Boundary Deluxe, and Nemo Quasar all top this pad for comfort but also come with more weight and lower warmth. The updated Rapide SL is the closest match at r4.8 in warmth and a few ounces heavier, along with the packed size being about equal which is enough to remain as the king of the 3 season pads for me as it’s comfort more than makes up for the other slight differences. Surprisingly, the extreme conditions version of this Nemo pad didn’t have the same stiffness issues. The All-Season is a great pad that has made impressive leaps in weight and warmth and may be a better fit for other body types, just wasn’t quite there for me.

I've used just about every brand of sleeping pad on the market, and these newer Tensor pads are my favorite. Quite lightweight given the R-values, and small to pack. Durability has been great, and most importantly, the comfort is spot on. Other pads that have the baffles runnings all in one direction don't do it, either they're soft on the side and you roll off too easy, or thy bounce around and curl on you. The Tensor doesn't have either of those issues. Also very quiet. My only items for improvement is that the tops of these should all be black or dark charcoal colored. Reason being with more people using quilts and having direct skin contact with the top surface, the sweat and grime really begins to build up and show nasty wear after a bit. Black will hide it so ... MoreI've used just about every brand of sleeping pad on the market, and these newer Tensor pads are my favorite. Quite lightweight given the R-values, and small to pack. Too many of the rectangle shape ones keep too much weight on for lightweight backpacking use.

I used the Nemo Tensor on a biketour of Iceland and was impressed with the performance and comfort of this pad. Temperatures in mid-May ranged from 25-50 degrees Fahrenheit in numerous different landscapes and weather. I was never cold despite these changing conditions (with a 20 degree sleeping bag). This pad has a quick inflation pump sack which I found takes about 4-5 uses to fully inflate the pad. Deflation is also easy, the pad can be packed up simultaneously during the deflation process.Comfort was excellent, the 3.5 inch thickness kept me completely off the ground as a back and side sleeper. I personally like the wide pad, the fractional weight of a smaller pad is not worth it if you don't fit. Between the comfort, packability, weight and durability, this pad should be considered by anyone looking for a good night sleep.

I tried the pad out in upper 80s daytime and low 40s at night in the desert.I’m primarily a side sleeper yet occasionally sleep on my stomach and back when backpacking. I tried all 3 positions on this pad and had no issues - it’s extremely comfortable. It comes with a stuff sack, velcro strap, air pump bag and a repair kit. I like how the repair kit has its own pocket inside the stuff sack. Exception design on everything.I love the look and feel of the materials. The material didn’t irritate my skin.It took me 4-1/2 full air pump bags to pump the pad to full. The air pump bag is efficient and folds up with the pad.Sitting on the pad was comfortable until I tilted to one side and felt my hip bone touch the ground. Yet lying on my side, my hip didn’t touch the ground. The pad has a great weight distribution. The pad definitely makes noise especially when you’re on it. It didn’t wake me up or affect my sleep and definitely quieter than some other pads I’ve tried. The pad kept me warm at 40° with a 40° quilt wearing shorts and a T-shirt with no rain fly on tent.I slept really good on this pad and definitely a new favorite pad for me to use. I love the colors, accessories, lightweight, warmth and comfort.
Received the product packaging in great condition with no damage. Once I opened the Nemo air sleeping pad and found the vortex pump sack included with it. I used the pump sack to inflate the pad it took three full sacks to get to the level I liked, but is a nice, included feature. Once inflated I noticed that it is much quieter than my old air pad it also filled up much easier. I am a side sleeper, and this pad did a great job of keeping me comfortable. I use a sleeping bag that the pad fits into and there is no filling on the bottom side, so the 5.4 R Value is great for the weight and size of this pad. I know it is small but the stuff sack has a small pocket inside to hold the repair kit. This is a feature that my previous pads did not have which made it easy to ... I also liked the low profile valve which kept it out of the way or even knowing it was there when using.
I've been using the older Tensor Ultralight Insulated pad (R4.2) for the past 2 years, and have loved the comfort, quiet, and weight. The warmth has been fine except in early spring, when the ground is still frozen or very cold, and air temps are in the 30s, when I've wished for a bit more insulation. I got the new Tensor All-Season for its higher R value and 1/2" of additional thickness. Comparing my old and new pads side by side on the January frozen ground in my back yard in NH, I can definitely feel that the All-Season provides more insulation from ground cold. The extra thickness is noticeable too (from a comfort perspective). And the new version's valves are easier to open and close. Excluding the inflation bag (I use a FlexTail pump to avoid blowing moisture into the pad), the new pad weight 19.3 oz on my digital scale (Regular Wide version), which is 0.2 oz less than my older pad. So all around this seems to be a very nice upgrade.
First of all, when they say ultralight they mean ultralight. For such an essential part of my camping gear, it takes up the smallest space in my bag. I did a lot of research before purchasing this, and at over $200 I needed to make sure that budgeting for this was going to be worth it. I am not a backpacker, but part of my job is traveling (sometimes internationally) for field work, so extra space is indispensable for making sure I have room for research equipment. However, that small size does come with trade-offs. Here are my thoughts after two uses:Pros:* Takes up such a small space in my bag, making it easy for travel* The warranty offered by NEMO, as well as the included repair kit, provide peace of mind* With a breeze and the included pump sack, setup ... The original packaging has it with no air inside, and it took me about four or five tries to finally get it even and back in the bag. It is possible, but requires practice. (Or you can just buy a slightly larger stuff sack.)Bottom line: If you need space, go for it. But make sure you practice rolling it up and putting it in the bag beforeComfort: 4/5Ease of Use: 4/5
This product has developed leak(s) after 2 months of consistent use (60 inflations), not due to puncture but apparently material "fatigue". I had used its predecessor, Tensor (that was not all-season) before I bought this one, and it too developed leaks, not due to puncture, but in the recessed dimples that do not contact the ground; this is why I attribute the holes to "fatigue" of materials at the dimples. In the six months I used the previous one, I found--with great difficulty--and patched, one at a time, a total of six leaks with Seam Grip. I say "with great difficulty" because they were very small holes that made it extremely hard to find them using either soapy water or immersion. I say "with great difficulty" because they were very small holes that made it extremely hard to find them using either soapy water or immersion. Despite the leaks being small, by the middle of the night the pad usually had deflated to ground contact level. In no case did any object penetrate the product. I was able to find and repair the holes in the previous pad with Seam Grip, but the current pad has not allowed discovery of the source of the leak. I'll soon have to add my hot air to this in the middle of the night, too. I should think that Nemo could make a air pad that doesn't automatically begin to leak after two months.
I got the Tensor All-Season for a mid-May trip with temps overnight forecast into the high 30s. I brought a 30 degree down quilt vs my 15 degree bag as my pack space was limited. I was not once cold! I am so impressed. Durability seems more than adequate with zero issues even though we slept on rocks one night. I also worried about sliding off and that did not happen — I got the wide rectangular option as I tend to flop about from side to side. Width at 25” was adequate for this! One feedback is that I personally dislike folding up things in thirds and returning to a small sack each morning — might there be a zippered rectangular stuff sack with room to put the 1/2 folded pad and inflation bag into with less ‘stuffing’? One feedback is that I personally dislike folding up things in thirds and returning to a small sack each morning — might there be a zippered rectangular stuff sack with room to put the 1/2 folded pad and inflation bag into with less ‘stuffing’? I basically did not use the stuff sack and folded the pad in half then rolled it — securing it with the included velcro strap. It’s a small issue really and for someone that likes to out minimal effort out to pack up. One other tricky aspect relates to inflating — I pulled the inflation bag off a few times just before reaching full. The angle seems a bit unnatural for avoiding this — again, I’m nitpicking as it was manageable with practice. I topped off with a few breathes, too. I do wish Nemo would offer a mini pump option — or I may get a third party one for ease. Depending on how much air you get into the inflation sack, it too me up to 10-12 rolls to reach full. I also bought a sheet from another company and it did not fit so had to abandon the idea — and maybe it is not needed in hindsight. Overall, I am quite impressed and sold you might say on Nemo quality.
I purchased this product for my wife as a birthday gift mostly because I’ve been happy with a similar Nemo pad that I’ve had for about 6 years and thought it be good to have interchangeable inflation bags. I was also attracted to the compactness and high R value of the product. On our first night use, the valve connection to the inflatable bag disconnected three times, deflating the entire pad, before we were able to finish inflating the pad for the night.A few hours into the night, we heard a loud pop and a six inch gash had appeared on the pad.We spent a cold, damp night out on her birthday weekend. Fortunately, there was an REI in the area where we thought we could return the item. No such luck. Even though we had planned to return the item for the weak valve, this was no longer an option as the gash is considered normal wear and tear. The REI staff were kind enough to comp us a patch kit but I am not looking forward to the potential for another cold, damp night on the ground.

Nemo Tensor All-season Ultralight Insulated Sleeping Pad
The Nemo Tensor All-Season is a lightweight 4 season backpacking and camping mat that uses light and packable materials and insulation to create a very warm 5.4 R-Value pad in an impressively light and compact design. The body of the mat is constructed from a combination of 20D nylon top and tougher more abrasion resistant 40D nylon on the bottom. To keep you warm on cold nights the Tensor uses two suspended layers of ultra-thin, metallized Thermal Mirror film, which efficiently reflects body heat. The layers clever floating construction eliminates the crinkling, crunchy sound that many insulated air pads are known for, earning Tensor a reputation for peace and quiet. The Tensor takes it's name from Nemo's proprietary Spaceframe baffle design, which utilizes low-stretch fabric trusses to create stable support and offer just the right amount of give. This means that when lying on your side your hip will not touch the ground. The Tensor comes with Nemo's Vortex pump sack that makes inflating the bag easy, saving your breath and preventing moisture getting into the mat. The Laylow valve sits flat against the may and can be used to make micro adjustments to the inflation of the mat so you get the perfect firmness for you. Nemo Tensor All-Season Features 20D (top) and 40D (bottom) nylon Two layers of floating Thermal Mirror metallized film Spaceframe baffles offer unparalleled stability and weight distribution Microadjustable Laylow valve Impressively quiet Included Vortex pump sack, repair kit, stuffsac & velcro strap.
