Both of my cats were not feeling well and I needed a high quality wet food to include in their diet and to mix with medicine. After numerous trips (45 minute drive each way) to the pet store I finally tried Open Farm. I was impressed! However, not happy that I came up empty handed on 5 return trips to the store to pick up the beef flavor that was "supposed to be in stock." DEFINITELY easier to order directly from Open Farm. What impresses me the most are the quality ingredients and the pleasant aroma. It doesn't have a strong odor like a lot of the canned food. My cats literally gobble it up!My best advice, try each flavor to see which your pet will enjoy the most. My two definitely surprised me with beef being #1 and turkey #2. I have two kittens and one of them had sooooo much trouble eating. I would try out different food and she would take a bite or two and then walk away or just wouldn’t at all (unlike her brother who would eat literally anything). I was feeling desperate and found this website after doing a bunch of research. I picked this one out especially because she is also very picky about texture and only likes things that are basically the texture of puree. I purchased this and it came just a few days later. She loved it so much! She ate the whole bowl!! Never seen her eat so excitedly before. Would definitely recommend this to all cat owners especially picky ones like mine.

I had never heard of Open Farm before doing some online research several month ago into cat foods. I was looking for a wet cat food with high-quality ingredients from a company that was transparent about its ingredients and sourced them from farms where the animals were raised more ethically, sustainably, and humanely than animals raised for/used in most other premium cat foods. The Open Farm company kept showing up at the top of lists and appeared to meet my criteria really well. Its price was relatively compatible with the wet food I had been feeding my cat in the past (Wellness) so I decided to give it a try. Something to be aware of: It comes in a lined pouch/box sort of thing, not a can. Again, different, but just fine once you get used to the difference. The container, once opened, can be stored in the fridge without a traditional cover (the top folds back up, creating its own cover). I'm wondering if this sort of packaging is more environmentally friendly than traditional cans, but haven't looked further into this. In any event, the square containers are more efficient and space-saving to store than cans. Altogether review: A + - I've found my new go-to cat food.

Fussy eater falls in love
18 January 2023

Sam has food allergies and I suspect because of that he has become a very fussy eater. He has reacted to this food with a zeal I haven't seen for many years. Is fur is growing back, the scabs are mostly healed, and he is no longer exhausting himself with the constant grooming he does when food makes his skin itch. He is more active, playful, more loving (not sure how that was possible), braver, sassier, more like the raw cat he used to be before food became a nightmare because his food allergies have only gotten worse with age.The containers are a waxed paper with a foil like waxed inner layer that I hope is not plastic sealing in all that wonderful gravy/stew. I am particularly fond of this packaging and wish more pet food manufacturers did something less harmful ... MoreSam has food allergies and I suspect because of that he has become a very fussy eater. Leo absolutely loves this food. It's a winner! He's pretty enthusiastic about food in general, but when we ran out of the wet for a few days before our new order arrived, and then I got some cheaper wet food, his previous favorite, and then the new order came, and I offered both kinds of wet side by side, he did not hesitate to eat the Open farm first. As he should, since it's five times more expensive. I like knowing he's getting all the omegas. At first he managed to eat around the boys of carrot and something else granular, maybe lentils, but he's stopped doing that. Maybe because i cut back on how much I'm feeding him, as i realized I was feeding him almost double the calories he needs. 🙃

Great idea, but cats usually drink the liquid and rarely eat the solids.
14 September 2022

Initially my cats would have nothing to do with this. When I'd almost given up trying, they finally ate some. After that it was not a problem except that they usually only drink or lick the liquid and leave most of the solids. They do not like carrots, but the other brands I buy contain mashed carrots so the cats don't notice them and eat them with the pates.I like most of the ingredients listed although I wish all the ingredients were organically grown/raised.Because this food is so runny, and because the cats usually leave most of the solids uneaten, including the meat, they are not getting enough to satisfy & nourish them, so I have to supplement it with other cat foods. On the whole, despite the great concept of Open Farm, this is just not an affordable cat ... MoreInitially my cats would have nothing to do with this. Healthy Food that Save the Earth - Happy Cat & Cat Momma :)

My dear cat's name is lofi, she is a sweet young girl who usually prefers her dry food to her wet food. I always try to source the healthiest meals for her, but for the next month and a half I got a notice that her current wet food would be unavailable. So, I scoured the internet for what the cat nutrition experts had to recommend as the next best thing, and stumbled upon this brand. I was really excited, as I have never heard of a company prioritizing sustainability and humane animal production as much as Open Farm does. From high-quality, ethically-raised and gathered meats, an appropriate cat nutrient profile in every recipe, rave reviews from finnicky eaters and recyclable TerraCycle-compatible packaging, I was extremely excited about every aspect of the product ... MoreMy dear cat's name is lofi, she is a sweet young girl who usually prefers her dry food to her wet food. So, I scoured the internet for what the cat nutrition experts had to recommend as the next best thing, and stumbled upon this brand. I was really excited, as I have never heard of a company prioritizing sustainability and humane animal production as much as Open Farm does. From high-quality, ethically-raised and gathered meats, an appropriate cat nutrient profile in every recipe, rave reviews from finnicky eaters and recyclable TerraCycle-compatible packaging, I was extremely excited about every aspect of the product before I even made my first purchase.I started with a pack of the Chicken Rustic blend, which I was able to get at a sale through the subscription option and an email opt-in discount, and eagerly awaited delivery to my home. Open Farm generously provides tracking options every step of the way, so I always knew where the package was. An extra note- while I was waiting for the product I also browsed where the closest Open Farm products are sold, and was happy to see that most if not all of their products were officially sold through small businesses across the United States. I love supporting small businesses, so this was just one more aspect of the company that had me happy to support them already.I did not have to wait too long for the food to arrive, as true to their promise, Open Farm delivered to my doorstep within 2-3 days of placing the order. Actually, I only had to wait about a day and a half. That's faster than the wet food I ordered from Amazon Prime!I eagerly bring the food inside my home, and the exterior packaging was nearly as true to Open Farm's sustainability promise, save for one shrink-plastic wrap around the 24 case of wet food. But otherwise, no tedious plastic dry ice packaging, no unnecessary extra packaging peanuts. Just an exterior cardboard box, a cute little recyclable "welcome to the Open Farm family" brochure, as well as the food itself. The little cartons were so cute! They were like little juice-boxes, but full of meat blends. Meat-boxes. They were a little smaller than anticipated, but that's ok, because that means they don't take up a lot of shelf space. I was also extremely impressed with how shelf-stable they were - each carton just needed to be used before the year 2023, so I had a full 2 years to get through a set of boxes that my little family could probably easily get through in about 1-2 months. There were some reviews talking about how hard it was to open the packaging, I disagree. I thought the packaging was extremely easy to navigate and open. They key was to squish out the top of the box until it was flat, resembling more of a Caprisun pouch than a box before ripping, and then the perforated edge ripped off no problem. I immediately noticed upon opening just how good the food smelled - Open Farm wasn't kidding about human-grade, and I was very tempted to try my own cat's food. I did not, and let her savor it all. I found the blend to be more of a watery consistency than a stew, but nonetheless it made it easy to poor out. By the time I reached the bottom of the box, I could just poor in a splash of water, shake up the box and poor the remains into her bowl, which I found much easier than scraping up the extra bits in a can. Putting away the box was also extremely easy. True to how Open Farm demonstrated in their videos, I simply folded the box and stored in my refrigerator for use later on in the evening. And most importantly, feeding the blend to my little lofi was the most gratifying part - immediately when I opened the box, she was very enticed by the smell, the same as myself. Usually, when I give her wet food in the evening, she'll take a few generous licks and leave the rest for the remainder of the day. However, with this stew, she immediately loved the flavor, and ate the whole thing over the span of about 5 or so minutes. I was extremely happy! She usually only eats her meal this quickly when it is her dry food, or if it's her little Inaba Churu meat treats. I let her lick the box, because she was that excited for more.I have not signed up for TerraCycle yet, but this product has me excited to do so. In the meantime, it is nice to know that the box alone as well as a majority of the extra packaging are recyclable on their own.As far as any recommendations for the company, my only wish is that they offer more variety for cat-owners, as the company itself seems to serve dog-owners first. If possible, I also wish it were easier to try their kefirs, which are only available in their stores. And of course, if there were a way I could receive the product with even less plastic, I would be extremely happy.I have already recommended Open Farm to two of my close friends and will continue to rec

My little TURKEY gobbles down his food
27 January 2023

I have been worried about the ingredients in the cat food that I have been feeding my Sahara boy. It just seemed like a never ending battle to find species appropriate protein and know exactly where this protein source was coming from along with high standard manufacturing practices. I’ve bounced back and forth from high end cat food but always had reservations about something that I knew wasn’t good. I also would wonder about the mystery of where the food was manufactured? I would cringe at the thought of what standards the facility had during the process. Now I can rest assured that his food is manufactured in a Human Grade facility with higher standards. My Sahara boy loves the taste of this food and GOBBLES down every last bite!

New food
18 May 2022

My cats are very picky about their food. I found open farm upon their previous place I’ve bought their food from discontinued human grade cat food. It was pre packed food that I had to keep frozen and unthaw when you wanted to use it. I love that I will no longer have to store cat food in the freezer because it takes up a lot of space. My 12 year old cat is the pickiest and he eats Open Farm so quick and doesn’t leave any food in his bowl. My 5 year old cat was a bit skeptical but after a few tries he enjoys the new food as well. I also love how many flavors there are to choose from! I can switch up the flavors to keep their meals interesting when before they only had one choice which was chicken. I’m happy to say this transition was successful!

The perfect cat food!
26 August 2021

I recently purchased various products to try and help improve my cats health. (different dry food, wet food, freeze-dried raw, etc, to sample and see what he likes) I recently went on a keto diet myself and felt a lot better, so I thought I could at least do the same for him. This is the best product I picked by far. Not only are the ingredients here spectacular (herring and mackerel, not byproducts), but my cat goes nuts when I open the box. It smells strong in a good way, like it is rich with nutrients. It looks like the result of blending these small fish with other ingredients like vegetables, which is nice compared to some horror stories I've read about certain canned foods where owners find random things like inedible bones mixed in.I like the packaging ... MoreI recently purchased various products to try and help improve my cats health. It's not metallic or plastic, it's more like a milk carton or juice box, so there is no concern for me about chemicals leaching into the food. I feed him half a box early in the day, and then seal the rest in an airtight container and leave it in the fridge for the evening. You can feed this to your cat alone or use it to top dry food and add some much needed moisture. I'll be reviewing this company's dry food as well, and let me say the result is equally impressive. The company has some great products and has won me over as a customer as long as they can maintain this level of quality. I would feel comfortable feeding this alone to my cat, though I'm glad I went with a variety of things to try so that he doesn't get bored. 😊Also, PetFlow has been great! They were very prompt with shipping and I feel very comfortable ordering from them again in the future.#sweepstakes
