Traveling weekly. Bought to carry laptop, notebooks, chargers and stuff. Overall an awesome pack, great looking well constructed. Straps are wide and comfortable. Really like the handle on the front, works great at the Security checkpoint at the airport. Top handle is comfortable and a little stretchy, really nice. Wish it had a rollabord sleve to slip over my rolling suitcase handle when extended. I was able to rig a loop from the waist strap that slips through an opening in the top of the bag that clips the pack to my suitcase. Works ok, but a sleve would be better. Pack swallows up gear and would be easy to overstuff it, but I just leave the side straps clipped to remind me not to weigh it down too much but it is nice to know that I could easily stuff gifts, ... This backpack has worked as my travel briefcase for almost 2 years now and shows very little wear. I often have to fly with my laptop and a projector. I use this as my "personal item" carry-on. The back section is padded (even on the bottom) for holding my laptop and the middle compartment is large enough for the projector. My personal items go in the front and stay organized with the mesh and zipper pouches. The handle on the front is great for pulling through security lines. The side straps tighten down to keep it close to my body and the side pouches are perfect for my coffee tumbler and water bottle. Good value for the durability and features.

I purchased this pack for my second grader. The bag he had been using, a skateboarder style pack, finally gave out after 9 years of use by his dad and another 3 years by him. I wanted to invest in a sturdy bag that could stand up to an elementary child and our Alaskan elements. I wasn't aware of a women's version (it's not really stocked at the store) so I purchased the Comet, figuring I'd make do. Materials feel durable and high quality with lots of smart design touches like zipper flaps, contrasting linings, a quick access pouch at the top, water bottle holders that can manage a 32oz Nalgene (praise!) and multiple sleeves in the laptop compartment (great for carrying electronics and travel documents without it all being bunched together). Exterior design is understated without a ton of unnecessary loops and straps that can get caught on things. Even when loaded, pack felt secure and balanced on the shoulders and I was able to wear it through two airports without any discomfort. Hiking backpack-like mesh/venting on the back panel kept my back dry. Sternum strap is welcome is good for stability and security. Waist strap is just a thin nylon band which feels unnecessary. Thankfully, it was simple to remove.My only complaint is that the zipper for the main compartment only goes about half way down the pack. This is typical for most backpacks, but makes it harder than it needs to be to pack or unpack items into the lower half of the bag, especially when the admin compartment is full. A full or 3/4 clam-shell design would be welcome. Also, the admin compartment has decent organization with elasticated sleeves and a zippered pouch, but the top of the sleeves sit too high relative to the pouch opening which can make it difficult to pull the zipper open or shut past any items that stick up, like pens or other tall items. But these are mild nits.If you're looking for a quality *backpack* that maintains the intelligent and practical design touches common to hiking gear while avoiding the design and pricing excesses of modern travel packs, this is a great choice. I expect this pack will be with me for as many adventures as my beloved Jansport was.

He is really excited about it and just said this morning, "I think this bag will probably last all through middle school, but if I need a new one for high school or college can we get another from this same brand?" I'd be fine with that - we spent more money on the Osprey (even on sale) than I had planned, but in the past I've purchased cheaper backpacks and ended up having to replace them every year, so ultimately I think this is a good investment.

This backpack is awesome. I was looking for something not to bulky and big but still have enough compartments to orginize. I was looking for a backpack for traveling, planes, trains, cars..etc. it is so well constructed I know exactly where my stuff is when I need it. It fits even under the seat on the plane which I like a lot, having all my very personal documents and valuables, on long trips I am very skeptical to put my personal bag above in the bin, in case I fall asleep, I feel good because the backpack is right there by me. Super awesome compartments with lots of different pockets for different items. It's perfect for school, travels, or even just a day out an about. Comfy shoulder straps and back with cushion.

I still love the Astro (a messenger-style laptop bag), but a shoulder bag was no longer comfortable or practical for what I need. The biggest surprise for me was how handy the stash pocket is. It's so nice to have a dedicated pocket for my sunglasses and headset, where I don't have to dig around trying to find them among other stuff, or worry about the getting scratched up or broken. Let's see, what else... Just the right amount of compartments and pockets, and thoughtfully laid out. The front organizer pocket in particular is terrific. A place for everything, and all easy to access.As far as negatives, I can only think of one, and it's minor: the hydration port. The problem with the hydration port is that it leads into the laptop compartment. Why is that a problem? Because even though the laptop compartment has a highly water-resistant zipper, the hydration port is essentially an open hole in the top of the pack with a wee tube of fabric sewn over to cover it. I don't get it. Oh, well. I'll only ever have a laptop in the bag in an urban setting, in which case I'll be using an umbrella for rain protection, so the hole into the laptop compartment should never be a real issue. Still, it bugs me.Altogether: two thumbs up. I would definitely recommend this bag to a friend.(*) To give you an idea of what I carry:laptop compartment:15.5" laptop, but it could hold something biggermain compartment:3 or 4 school/technical books, a couple of notebooks, a pad of paper, and maybe a few other random papersorganizer compartment:mouse, mouse pad, laptop charger, spare batteries, spare glasses, pens, pencils, eraser, graphing calculator + charger, ethernet cable, etc., etc.stash pocket:sunglasses and wireless headsetwater bottle pockets:a water bottle in one, and a compact umbrella in the otherI have no clue what all that weighs, but I think you get the idea.
