This is the easiest bread maker to use, clean and manage. The manual is step by step and you can select fast bakes or normal bakes. The programmes are easy to input using the up and down arrows. The machine does absolutely everything for you once you weigh your ingredients out and put them into the tin.I used the basic bread which took 2 hours with a medium crust (came out looking like roberts bread)and i set a fruit loaf in and used the basic fruit bread loaf programme 3, 4 hours again with a medium crustOne of the best features is the separate yeast dispenser this guarantees a perfect loaf each and every time.

After my amazing 2501 was retired I recently purchased the 2550. Though larger it feels flimsier. Unlike my 2501 The screen is high and flat and on a work surface is really difficult to read. Oddly the recipes have increased sugar by double. Worst though is that so far It hasn't produced an even sized loaf. 😕

Had this about nearly a month now and am pleased with results so far. I’m gluten free so it’s a bit of trial and error. Bread mixes versus recipe booklet mean I gave to experiment to get things right especially with the amount of liquid needed. I like the tools included even if the measures are a little hard to read. No problem with using teaspoons and tablespoon measurements. The display on top means I gave to stand on tip toe to read but otherwise are clear and easy to understand. I’m going to try making some jam next!

This replaced our previous Panasonic ZB2502. Although good; small points detract as follows:The mains cable is STILL too short, not everybody has spare sockets close by.The display could be improved; the bread size is shown in a small font whereas the menu number is large and in lower light not easy to read.Noticeably, all the menus seem to have increased salt and sugar content; we are supposed to be eating less of those ingredients! I appreciate things move on, but the old machine produced good loaves with a third of the sugar.
Solid construction, visually attractive and easy to use with excellent documentation. Consistently makes great bread if you are exact with the ingredient quantities (as the supplied manual strongly advises!).Running costs are comparable with supermarket loaves, a 500g granary loaf costs about £1.30 in ingredients and uses less than half a unit of electricity (0.41kWh or 12p at late 2023 prices) to kneed, proof and bake. The most pleasant surprise for me was how much crisper toast is which I suspect is partly down to the more open "crumb", the spaces within the bread that the rising process causes. Commercial bread often has a small, dense crumb probably from dough with lower water content (to reduce baking time and energy costs) which gives a toasted surface but ... MoreSolid construction, visually attractive and easy to use with excellent documentation. Commercial bread often has a small, dense crumb probably from dough with lower water content (to reduce baking time and energy costs) which gives a toasted surface but insulates the interior of the slice. A smaller crumb is also associated with less chewiness so that both fresh and toasted bread practically dissolves into mush in the mouth on the first bite; if you're fed up of that, buy one of these - it's great fun and with a bit of prep and patience you can make excellent bread with no prior experience.
I bought this to replace my old Panasonic bread maker, it certainly looks much nicer than my old white one and makes a great loaf. But forget waking up to the smell of fresh bread, you will be woken up in the middle of the night from the loud noise of the yeast being added! Also please put a decent cardboard cover on the recipe booklet, it’s tatty already as it’s just flimsy paper.
I recently upgraded a SD-255 that had done many years of excellent service. Just assumed that all the old bakes (and more) would now be available with the latest model (SD-YR2540 with same bakes as SD-YR2550) Have now discovered that the original 'Italian' bake (a very light bread) has been removed. This was one of our favorite bakes. Really feeling let down by Panasonic
I bought this Bread Maker in August 2023 and am just getting used to it. It produced a proper shaped loaf that far outshone my previous non Panasonic bread makers. It was very easy to set up the recipe and was very quiet while operating. The loaf was very tasty and a slice made excellent toast. So far, I am very pleased with thepurchase.
Noted the reviews about 'sweet bread'. Just used my 'common sense', used recipes for last 45yrs FOR GUIDANCE, Used 2 TEASPOONS to replace 3 Tablespoons, family played Oliver ! "We want more, please"!! But do 'miss' the twin-paddle, more 'horizontal/traditional' loaf shaped product I got accustomed to.
I have owned this machine less than a month and I have had two emails asking me to review it, so here are my first thoughts. This is a very solid, well-designed machine.I am now making perfect loaves after my initial errors. Or I should say the machine makes perfect loaves. The instruction booklets are thorough, and I was pleased that it was easy to download and save them, so I have them on PC as well as the paper copy.Having no experience of bread making machines, I bought a set of 5 x 500g various pre-mixes. Strangely, the instructions on them said to use 350g of mix in my 600g machine. If the print on the packets had been large enough to read, I would have got better results straight away.I could not find the right type of yeast in the local shops so had ... MoreI have owned this machine less than a month and I have had two emails asking me to review it, so here are my first thoughts. This is a very solid, well-designed machine.I am now making perfect loaves after my initial errors. The sourdough cup included is obviously high quality, like the rest of the gear, but I find it difficult to read the measurements etched on to the surface. The readout on top of the machine is clear if viewed by the light of a torch. In summary, I am confident that this is a high-quality machine and over time I am looking forward to making some excellent and varied bread with it.
