All with excellent results except the first time I used the Spelt programme the loaf was over-browned & extremely crusty so the next time I used the stop/cancel button and took the loaf out 10 minutes early resulting in a perfect loaf. Bought this directly from Panasonic to replace an older Panasonic machine which we've had for about 13 years. It's very easy to use and the yeast dispenser is a really good idea. The machine is slightly bigger than our old one height wise, but narrower. Although the display is darker it is still visible and even though I'm not very tall at 5'1'' I can still read the display as we bring it further out on the worktop when it's in use. The bread seems to be tastier and the crust is definitely better. Not tried the sourdough yet but it's next on our list. We've only had the machine about a week and have made bread a couple of times in it so it's still early days. We usually make a couple of loaves a week as there is just the two of us. This replaces a Panasonic breadmaker I've had for many years, which eventually became unusable. Having used this new one a few times, I'm delighted with it. The quality of the bread so far exceeds shop-bought bread, or indeed bread made with the old machine, it is a pleasure. While the machine is great, I have a niggle with the recipe for spelt bread (which is largely why I bought this model), which only shows white spelt, whereas my previous model also included wholemeal spelt. I've adapted the new recipe, based on my old recipe. and it's worked fine. I also notice that the new recipes also omit some options (e.g. 50% wholemeal loaves) that the earlier one had, and I wonder why.

Really love this bread maker! Have tried other cheaper models with wasted ingredients and frustration. I read lots of amazing reviews about this model but kept asking myself Reallycan I justify the cost of this one? Well, along came a promotion and I decided now or never so I went for it and purchased this Panasonic model. I can truly say I couldnt be happier. So far I have made white bread, wholemeal, 50/50 and PannetoneI have been delighted with all the results. Now making a loaf of bread every couple of days and its delicious plus its nice to know what base ingredients are being used. Cant see myself adding a shop loaf to my shopping again. I can only imagine this would be of minimal cost to Panasonic and then I would rate this as the perfect domestic bread maker machine

My 2nd/3rd? Panasonic bread maker. Very pleased.

My previous Panasonic bread maker had given me many years of excellent service, but things don’t last for ever, so when I saw this model on offer I decided to take advantage of the offer. (Sod’s Law says that if I hadn’t, the previous one would give up on me as soon as the offer was over 😄.) So far I’m pleased, but have only made one loaf so far. I’m curious as to why the recipes for this model use more sugar than the previous one, and may try reducing it once I’m more familiar with the machine. There also seem to be fewer different bread recipes than before. I’m keeping the previous recipes as I like more variety. The machine itself is very sleek. The hinge on the long side means less space is needed above it than for my previous machine. No real improvement, some downsides

This is my third Panasonic and I have to say it's my least favourite. I don't think the bake is better, in fact the loaves have been consistently inconsistent, i.e. uneven shape with one side's crust trying to fly away. This is using both the recipe I've used many, many times before with the other machines and the new slightly tweaked one (more yeast, more sugar, more salt). This machine browns the loaf less (lower baking temp?) and that may be the reason for the advised increased sugar.I hate the yeast dispenser, it's difficult to pour into, extremely noisy and I can't see any difference at all to putting it in the bottom as before. The seed dispenser seems a bit more roomy which is good but is also really noisy.Overall I don't love it and feel I'm putting up ... MoreThis is my third Panasonic and I have to say it's my least favourite. The instruction/recipe booklet is also terrible compared to the others. Oh, and the price!

Perfect Bread Maker for delicious home made bread
9 May 2023

I should have got a bread maker a long time ago. I have tried many different types of both supermarket and artisan breads over the years and was never happy with the various makes. I finally decided to bake my own bread and bought this Panasonic top model. Perfect loaves from day one, each and every one very tasty. I have made rye breads, whole wheat, raisin and chocolate chip ones. I have substituted some of the water with milk and eggs, every single loaf has turned out perfectly and extremely tasty. I follow the Panasonic recipes supplied to the letter, but experiment with mixing different types of flour, i.e. strong white and wholewheat, wholewheat and rye, malted flour and rye, etc. I believe using quality organic flour does make a different. Great taste and even consistency.I am absolutely delighted with this Panasonic bread maker which is dead easy to operate, ingredients into the pan - don't forget to add yeast into yeast dispenser - switch on, set baking programme, weight etc. and forget about it. Come back at the end of the cycle and take out a perfect loaf of bread, each and every time!If you have the space and can afford to buy the best then choose this model. You won't regret it.

Superb breadmaker

This is our fourth Panasonic breadmaker (over past 20years). First two passed to family members and still in use. After seeing this model on John Lewis website, we decided to buy one and keep our 2511 - thus giving us two breadmakers. Now we can make two different loaves at same time. This model, the 2540 is incredible! The loaves are superb. (We are still happy with 2511). Fits along wall in kitchen and thus more space in front. Looks great too. Putting the yeast in separately, instead of straight into pan first, obviously is the reason the bread rises so well. I agree with previous reviews on the minute display on lid. I am short and I need a step(or tiptoe) plus a torch to set programmes. I didn't think this warranted a star drop though. The clockwise turn!
2 September 2023

Everything great initially. First loaf was wholemeal spelt and delicious. However, I tried a rapid white next. Sadness. Floury gloop. No mixing at all. The dough tool was in but the bowl had been loose on the mechanism. All the other reviews came back to me - the clockwise turn. Not obvious in the instructions. There are two lugs on the base that need lining up for initial placing, but then the bowl needs to be twisted clockwise for secure fixing! I hope the mechanism isn't damaged and will have another go - Lakeland there needs to be better instructions! It's Panasonic but on your website?

Very pleased; Rapid options a bonus
12 April 2023

Bought a month ago as a replacement for my Panasonic SD-2501. I chose this one because it was the only one I could find that had a spelt recipe. Happily, John Lewis offered the best price, because I trust John Lewis and service is excellent. I use it 3 or 4 times a week: very happy with it. The Rapid options are a real bonus and produce good loaves. I agree with other reviewers that the display could be improved: I need my specs on to read it. Was surprised to see the quantities of sugar (more than older model) in the recipes (also mentioned by other reviewers) but I used my previous model with no sugar at all and have done the same with this one.
