I purchased one of these about 8 years ago. Sadly, the release button kept breaking. Springs weren't strong enough. Once they're gone lid is no good. It cooked a casserole in less than an hour. Was big enough for me. I missed it when it toddled off to appliance heaven. As these were hard to come by then, had to buy something else. Hasn't been as good.

Opening latch is harder to press. The quality of rice cooked is pretty good and consistent but not best. Our previous Media brand may cook rice for better texture. Notification sound is like alert beeps which will really get your attention. Overall, good product only have it for almost a month, we used it every two days. No regret for that price. Not yet used other mode of cooking.

Loving all the functions this guy has, I have made several of the recipes including cakes and porridge. They all turned out delicious. I can be a little slow but the food is cooked perfectly so no complaints. For the various functions this has it's priced really well.

Great brand and great rice cooker.

I really prefer Japanese brands for rice cookers and this was the only one I could find that wasn’t exorbitantly expensive. It’s a great rice cooker and very high volume. I don’t think you ever need more than 5 cups but this cooks 10. It’s on special during Boxing Day so it’s a good deal right now.

Great multipurpose rice cooker
21 July 2022

While I haven't had the chance to use all of the functions this rice cooker offers, I have enjoyed many meals of perfectly cooked and steamed rice and frozen veggies. The keep warm function works wonderfully; I can cook rice for lunch and enjoy the leftovers still in the cooker for dinner.I find that rice starts losing moisture around the 15 hour mark. It's very easy to maintain too. Both the steam vent and internal seal can be removed from the lid for easy cleaning. The tool holder on the side of the cooker really helps keep the rice paddle and ladle in easy reach. This was a great purchase. However, I would recommended purchasing the 5 cup version if you intend on only cooking one cup of rice. The 10 cup version cooks two cups of rice minimum.

Hats off to Panasonic!

I had been waiting to buy this Panasonic rice cooker since last xmas as it was sold out. I was so pleased to order one online while it was on special a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the one they sent me had an obvious scratch in the inner pan so I had to return it to the store nearby and Myer staff helped me to organise refund and order a new one.The new rice cooker was sent to me within a week. That’s quick. I use it almost on a daily basis. I love that it comes with 16 auto menus as my previous rice cooker only had 6 auto menus. So far I’ve used it to cook white rice, sushi rice and brown rice and they were all perfectly cooked. My ‘American baked rice’ was nicely done easily last week. And this rice cooker has the last 10+ minute countdown which is quite useful. However, I’d hope that it has last 30 minute countdown in the future. The only negative is the cooking time for brown rice. When I chose the ‘brown rice’ menu, it took me almost 3 hours to cook the rice last time.Overall, I love using this rice cooker and I can’t wait to try other recipes in the recipe book.

I bought this rice cooked a couple of weeks ago and have used it twice since. It is very easy to use and the rice is cooked to perfection. I have cooked both arborio white rice and glutinous/sticky rice in it, so far. I was a little dubious about cooking sticky rice the bowl as I normally steamed it in my old rice cooker. You could also steam it in the steaming basket, if preferred. However, it was cooked to my satisfaction in the bowl.I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes in the recipe booklet in the future.I recommend this rice cooker.

Perfectly cooked rice

I was given this Rice Cooker by Panasonic to test, this is my review after two weeks of use: The SR-CN188WST Rice Cooker is quite a cumbersome unit, making it best suited to a family with a lot of spare bench space. A minimum of two cups of rice must be cooked at a time which is not ideal if you're eating solo. The markings on the inner pot are very useful, ensuring the perfect amount of water is added for the intended recipe, whether it's steamed white rice, brown rice or porridge. I found the menu quite straightforward and easy to navigate. The cooking time for two cups of rice is approximately 40-50 minutes, which seems like an excessively long time compared to other rice cookers I have used, however it's worth the wait as it produces rice that is perfectly ... MoreI was given this Rice Cooker by Panasonic to test, this is my review after two weeks of use: The SR-CN188WST Rice Cooker is quite a cumbersome unit, making it best suited to a family with a lot of spare bench space. I found the menu quite straightforward and easy to navigate. The cooking time for two cups of rice is approximately 40-50 minutes, which seems like an excessively long time compared to other rice cookers I have used, however it's worth the wait as it produces rice that is perfectly textured, deliciously light and fluffy. It's also ideal for cooking short grain rice for sushi, with the addition of a little extra water and using the 'soft' rice setting. Additionally, I've found this rice cooker works well for cooking soup, bread (which can be crisped in the oven for a crunchy crust), and steaming vegetables to serve with the rice. Pros: Light and fluffy textured rice, consistently cooked to perfection. Cons: Bulky machine, cooking takes a long time, a lot of parts to disassemble and clean.

Rice cooker product review and Myer service
24 January 2023

We were very excited when the rice cooker arrived from Myer delivery. However, the rice cooker was chucked into a much bigger box without sufficient padding. We opened the box and unpacked the rice cooker. The lid was broken on first use . When we closed of the lid, the plastic clip on the lid snapped and flew out. It was so disappointing and we have to brought it back to a Mayer store. I wrote a feedback to Myer but never heard back from them. Not happy with the way they handle the problem at all.

Too slow
20 January 2023

Disappointed, bought to replace a similar model from Sharp that lasted 10 yrs and used everydays. This one is so slow, takes a good 45 minutes to cook rice. The bowl burns the rice when reheating. Will buy another brand overseas and dump this one.
