We had an older and smaller Philips air fryer that has given us very good and reliable service for years, but we wanted something a bit bigger, so we had more choice in what we could use it for. Although it has a bigger capacity, the unit is not that much larger, so still fits in the cupboard. In operation, it is much quieter, it was very easy to set up, and there are some useful presets. We have also bought an 8-inch silicon liner which makes it much easier to clean. We decided to go for a bigger capacity air fryer, rather than 1 with 2 drawers as we thought it gives us more scope for cooking things like whole chickens and it will fit an 8-inch cake tin. Although we have only used it a few times so far, we are very pleased with it.

I wish I bought one of these earlier. Like many, I only have one oven at home so it is really convenient to have access to my Airfryer when I need to cook separate items simultaneously. An Air fryer is essentially a small benchtop fan forced oven that can create similar results to frying. I use this Philips XL model for cooking whole Chickens, Pork belly, reheat dinner rolls, oven fries, tandoori Chicken, Hot wings and frozen foods such as meat pies, sausage rolls etc. It's super convenient as there is no pre-heating time either. I have a family of 4, and this XL size model is a bargain for the price and serves us well. The XXL model is only slightly bigger but costs significantly more. You would be better off buying 2x of the XL models, in my opinion.

Falafel: we prepared the ingredients ourselves and used olive oil instead of water while mixing the ingredients. We followed the instructions in the manual and turned the falafels a few times, but the result was not as good as we expected. The outside was cooked and dry, but the inside was uncooked. It tasted different than the normal falafel cooked in oil. 4. Lax fillet: we chopped a fresh Lax into small horizontal portions and marinated them for 20~30 minutes. We cooked it also according to the instructions. The result was totally above expectations. It was fully cooked, tender, and tasted good. The lax oil was preserved inside, which gave it a better taste. We also found issues with the pause/play button disappear when you open the container, when the device is on pause. We don't know if it's intended behavior or it's a malfunction, but we restarted the device and it was fixed.

The machine air fries ok but my family has a hard time with the icon meanings on the touch display. If there were words under the icon we all would know what they meant instead of dragging the book out every time. It makes a difference b/c the automatic shut off time goes with icons. First icon looks like a chicken leg but means frozen French fries-only one I remember. Machine doesn’t have grill plates for steak like my old Ninja. Ninja didn’t last long-less than2 yrs. That is why I tried Phillips. Middle rating is for not having understandable buttons or words instead of the icons we don’t know.
I had to unfortunately return my Airfryer XL back to the store after two weeks. I had used it twice & was very happy with the meal. However, when I tried to separate the two frying baskets to get the food & to wash them, it was very difficult to separate the two baskets. I tried to push down on the button but it didn't work. It is too difficult to use so I had to return it to the store. Also, for the price I shouldn't have to download & print the manual & cooking instructions, the booklet should be included in the price. I would buy another Airfryer XL when the frying baskets are simpler to use. I noticed that the larger & more expensive Philips Airfryers the frying baskets are much easier to remove.

It seems to be in the same series, similar in appearance and similar pricing. I ordered it online as I felt like I was merely upgrading and I was happy with my last one of 5 years.. I am so so so disappointed! It does not cook as well or as quickly as my previous one and the design of the basket has taken a step backwards! You can't separate the basket from the holder easily. The old model was easier and safer. You have to remove the entire holder from the machine in order to release the basket - not a good idea when the holder is hot! There is nothing to hold it in place and it just slides right out. I am happy with any food cooked. This AF is super quiet and I had to put my hand in the back vent to feel hot air to verify if it was on. It also does not make the annoying loud beeping sound when I touch the keypad. I like the high quality build and material used. I chose this AF because the handle is attached to the basket with a metal arm and bracket. My last AF bracket cracked because it was made of plastic. The inner and outer baskets have high quality non-stick coating that does not smell toxic and baked-on foods are easily washed off. We paid double the price of the previous AF, but I made a good decision because the Philips AF can outlast the life of more than 2 AF of other brands.
I bought this Philips Air fryer during the boxing day sales in December 2022. It was on sale for $199 although I got it for a bit less through price matching and using my concierge voucher. On Christmas day I used the exact same one at my sons house to cook a whole chicken which came out tender and cooked well. I have since baked cupcakes, cooked pork crackle and used it for heating various things. I purchased the baking dish and silicon cup cake cases separately. This is a upgrade from a small Aldi air fryer and overall I'm very happy with it.

We have a large Westinghouse oven which takes about 15 minutes to heat up, by which time the Philips would have cooked whatever we were trying to do. So at the end of year sales, I managed to find an XL model at a good price, and it's been really terrific because it will fit in whole roasts (medium size - more than enough for 3-4 people) and do them in half the time the large oven or even our BBQ would. ... MoreWe've had the Air Fryer for a couple pf months. My preference would be for both to have manual settings by knobs with clear detents which would allow faster and just as accurate settings. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.
