These Hue bulbs (which I received in a free trial) are great! They were easy to fit (just like putting in a normal GU10 bulb) and then connecting them up to the app on my phone was very straightforward. (I already had a Hue bridge and the app downloaded, but fitting that and getting the app is also easy). The app is easy to use and these two bulbs allow for a wide range of colours - you can also choose a different colour for each bulb (see pictures, I know they are not the best) to create different effects ("scenes"). The app comes with a range of different pre-set scenes for these two bulbs in combination and so you can always find something that fits your mood. I fitted this as a spotlight in my dining room- I found the original bulb too bright. This bulb has completely transformed the ambience in the room. For dinner parties I can set a warm, dim light, and for parties I use the colours to create a dance floor! I find now I'm using this bulb daily instead of having to turn on multiple table lamps to get the same effect, hopefully saving on electricity too. The app is so easy to set up and use, and I love that I can use the preset scenes or set my own so I can quickly set the mood in the room. It's also possible to set up to work with voice-controlled gadgets and link multiple bulbs together in rooms.

As an existing user of a number of outside Hue lights I had not considered using the GU10 for my internal room lights. I used these in my hallway and they took seconds to install and they connected to my Phillips Hue App with ease. The controllability of the light brightness and shade is excellent and we have actually decided to upgrade our larger kitchen/diner area with these lights. This will allow us to have separate controllable zones that will be especially useful for entertaining. The only negative is the high cost so we will be doing a bit of saving before the upgrade.

I added these GU10 format bulbs to my existing home setup that uses a Philips Hue bridge as the main control hub for all of my home lighting. The bulbs were easy to add and worked as expected. These GU10 bulbs are good for normal lighting and for creating coloured ambient and mood lighting. If you do not have a Philips Hue bridge you can control the bulbs directly by downloading the Philips Hue Apple or Android app and using bluetooth. You can also control these bulbs using other hub devices that support the Zigbee protocol (like certain Amazon Echo devices). The bulbs are GU10 mains voltage with a diameter of 50mm and overall length of 58mm. They have a 43 degrees beam angle and have a standby power consumption of 0.5W each. The bulbs are GU10 mains voltage with a diameter of 50mm and overall length of 58mm. They have a 43 degrees beam angle and have a standby power consumption of 0.5W each. The construction seems to be all plastic and well made. Considering what these bulbs can do if they last the stated 15,000 hours then they will be good value. They also have a 2 year warranty. The bulbs can produce a white light of between 2000K to 6500K (from very warm to daylight white) and they can also produce a full range of 16 million potential lighting colours that you can choose from. How much power the bulbs consumes and how bright they are depends on the colour you set them at. At 4000K (warm white) the bulb uses 5.7W and produces 350lm of light. At 2700K (very warm white) the bulb uses 4.3W and produces 250lm of light. For coloured lighting the lumens produced will be even less. Overall I think Philips produces some of the best and most reliable LED bulbs. And with the Hue range of lighting products and accessories you have the ability to control all aspects of your home lighting to make it personalised to you.
The lights were really easy to set up using the Phillips Hue Bluetooth app and have a full spectrum of colours and brightnesses. We have ours set up in the bathroom and nursery so we can dim and colour the lights in the evening to reduce blue light exposure. Using the app there are a limited range of additional routines which you can programme the bulbs to follow - wake-up, go to sleep, flash for alarms and scenes. For a wider range of control options we connected the bulbs with our Alexa (again very easy) which had a wide range of integrated functions. Overall, this is a great addition to a smart home setup (e.g. Alexa, motion sensors, Phillips Hue Bridge) but is a little pricey for the functionality you get with the standalone product.
