Best electric shaver ever!

It took about 2-3 weeks for my skin to adjust to dry shaving. I dry shave only now which I still can't believe. I wash and spray the blades and head after each use to keep them lubricated, it’s pretty quick. I've found the blades function better using the spray. The thing I really like is that the S9000 provides a smooth, closer shave than a wet razor and so I can get away without having to shave every day. It works perfect – the engineers have got it right! I am unsure how it provides a better shave than the manual wet gillette triple razor I was using but it does for me. Everyone is different but I am blown away with the results to say the least. I have found the trick for me is to gently move over the skin in a slow circular motion and don't push too hard. The result is a very smooth shave. I have shaved after 7 days of growth just to see if it still works (Philips claim it does) and yes it does work. Although, in my opinion if you have sensitive skin I would shave every couple of days as it's a quick process. I threw out my shower mirror last week just to be sure. The only thing I would like to see in the next model is a more compact travel pouch as the pouch is bulky. But nothing is perfect I guess! Aside from this I think Philips have hit the ball out of the park with this one! I gave this a 5 star because it works!

I wanted to see if it was better considering the extra cost as the sales person told me there was a definite difference with the 9000 Prestige’s blade system. I agree now that I had the chance to use them both. I have used electric shavers for more than 25 years and the last 15 have been exclusively Phillips. Since I can’t compare recently to other brands I will say this shaver gives me the closest shave I have encountered with an electric shaver. I like the weight of the unit and the ergonomics. This shaver stays at home and I have the Series 9000 that I take on the road. Have to say I prefer coming home to use this shaver since it is a lot better experience using the 9000 Prestige.

Fantastic Shaver. None better!

I've been using electric razors for approximately 50 years, so I consider myself an expert. I have owned every major brand on the market and I'm very pleased to say that this Philips razor is awesome. This product offers superior closeness, can be used wet or dry, is powered by a lithium battery (with fast charge capabilities), a one touch button to quickly open and clean the razor, a pressure guard sensor, and some other great features. The bottom line is that this product is capable of giving you a really, really close shave with no facial irritation. To me this is what it's all about and everything else is secondary. Don't get me wrong, as the razor has great features, but I judge how well a razor shaves and the results you wind up with. The comfort level is amazing, and it did not pull my facial hair when shaving as other razors tend to do. Run times are LONG and the digital display gives you a read-out of the percentage of the remaining battery. This razor is really on the quiet side duration operation and is probably one of the quietest razors that I have used. The product has a nice comfortable feel in your hand while using. It feels well balanced and seems very well constructed. The shaving heads float and follow the contours of my face. Shaving near my nostril openings is always a challenge as I find it difficult to shave in this area and get good results. Enter the Philips 9500 which easily handled the challenge. Shaving the hair in this area was a lot easier with less shaving passes needed to do the job.I'm very happy with this product as it performed flawlessly and offered up nothing but the best of shaves. This by far is the best razor that I have ever used in my life. Shaves are really close and in fact I have never ever experienced a closer shave. Using it wet or dry is a real plus. Philips has a winner on its hands!

Great successor to previous 9721
15 January 2023

Replaced a 9721 with the 9820. The new shaver feels pretty much the same in the hand. It is a bit quieter although the 9721 is quiet. The 9820 is comfortable on the face, perhaps a bit moreso than my previous shaver but about the same. However, the 9820 provides a closer shave faster (takes 1/2 the time) that means twice the time between recharge which is really nice. Relative negatives on 9820:The display area on the 9820 is a little smaller. The numbers are about the same size but they are bolder on the 9720 and so easier to read. Also, although the manual says that the display will turn on if the shaver is moved (as it does on the older model) to see the display to determine how much power is left it is necessary to turn on the shaver. I called customer service to determine if this was a defect in my unit but apparently that is the way it was made. Philips should change that back. Otherwise the new 9820 is terrific and I am quite happy with it. Highly recommended

I'm reviewing the shaving head, not the system.
17 February 2022

I bought the replacement head, because I found that it fits on my Series 9000 body. Let me give the good and the bad. I give 5 stars for the comfort rings, as they make a BIG difference in the shaving comfort. I was never able to shave every day, because I my chin area would get so irritated. Now, that's no longer a problem, sokudos for that. Now for the bad. The Series 9000 has slots instead of holes, on the inner cutting rings, but for the newer heads, they reverted to using holes instead (see pics). The slots are better at picking up longer hairs, so I don't know why they went back to using the holes. Now, I have to use another trimmer to cut the longer hairs, which means more time shaving. Overall, I like the comfort rings, because I can shave everyday, whereas before, I was mainly using a trimmer instead of shaving everyday, unless I had reason to need a close shave.I should also state that I recently received the S9000 Prestige as a gift, but I'm considering trading it for the Norelco 9500 model S9985/84 with SenseIQ Technology because of its new IQ features plus the built in trimmer (It's still unused and unopened). I have found that the trimmer attachments that come with Series 9000 and the S9000 Prestige, although they trim well, don't last that long. I bought the new model trimmer attachment, because my old one broke, but the newer model also stopped working after a short time. The built in trimmers never seemed to have that problem with the old shavers, plus, you don't need to remove the shaver head, in order to use the trimmer.I've been using Norelco shavers for many decades and have found their shavers to give the closest shaves, compared to Braun and Panasonic, which I've also owned. I always came back to Norelco.

I have been using Phillips Rotary Shavers for well over 20 years and have always used the mid level versions as I thought the more expensive ones were over priced and doubted they could be much better for the money. I was wrong !. I upgraded to a S9000 Prestige for Xmas and it is a cut above the rest. The closeness of the shave is amazing and leaves a smooth face with little effort in a much quicker time. It glides nicely across the face and is very quiet. It cuts cleanly and does not pull on longer facial or neck hair. The shavings are much finer than my mid range shaver and come out like a powder. I have charged it once in a month, doing daily shaves. I have no negatives about this shaver and highly recommend it. Poorly designed shaver with awful customer support

I must preface this review by stating that at 76 years of age I have used Philips/Norelco shavers exclusively throughout my entire life. The last time this happened the entire shaver head fell to the floor and was obviously damaged as it became exceptionally noisy and irritated my skin. I immediately called Philips customer service and, after explaining what happened to my 2 week old shaver, was informed by the Philips Customer Service agent that the shaving head and its retaining mechanism were NOT covered under the warranty even though my shaver was just 2 weeks old!!! After a heated discussion the Philips agent reluctantly agreed to send me a new shaver head. I'm sorry, but being so insulted and frustrated at the time, that was too little too late. Feeling so disappointed how Philips treats customers such as me who have been loyal Philips customers for over 60 years, I returned my Philips shaver and exchanged it for a different brand. After the way Philips customer service treated me, I am inclined not to purchase another Philips product. If Philips is truly interested in my frustrating experience with this purchase, it is my hope I would be contacted, as I would look forward to discussing this with Philips.

The S9000 Prestige is a great very quiet electric.
1 January 2023

I was using the Braun S7 brand before which I was happy with, so I was really torn as to which brand to buy. Three things made me go for the Norelco S9000 Prestige. First, how quiet the razor was. I was on vacation with my brother-in-law when I noticed how quiet his Norelco was compared to my Braun. Second, the Norelco shaving head is suppose to last two years. The cost to replace it is the same price as the Brawn S9, which must be replaced about every 6 months. Third, the clean-up involves running water over the shaver head which is easy to remove and put back on. Doing a deeper clean by releasing the three rotating blades asemblies from the shaver head once a month is not difficult. I recommend doing one blade at a time so you can see how to reassemble them. ... MoreI was using the Braun S7 brand before which I was happy with, so I was really torn as to which brand to buy. Another nice thing about the cleaning is you don't have to have a cleaning device setting on your sink top. I have found I only need to charge the razor every two weeks which is great and it serves as a reminder to deep clean the rotor blades every two charges. In summary, this razor delivers a very quiet, close , fast, shave. It is nice to shave without worrying about waking my wife up.
