This thing comes in handy, literally. I can control my ps5 with it, and also control my tv which is convenient. They even did an update for the microphone button which is a handy feature to say "Hi Playstation" and say what you want and it brings it up which is a very nice and convenient feature for this remote. I can turn my volume up and down on it, and even mute the volume if need be. You can control the ps5 just as with the controller with this. It also has your Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube buttons handy when needing content to watch or music to listen to which is an awesome feature as well. It's a nice buy with your ps5 when your needing to relax with a movie or some tunes to jam out to!

Purchased the remote so that we could avoid using the controller to stream from Netflix/Disney+/YT. We have children in the home so we also wanted to avoid the controller getting knocked off the couch and etc. We love the remote, it's wonderful when it works and serves its purpose. But we had to knock off a star because it goes through batteries so quickly - in our experience. We've swapped the battery out 3-4 times and we've only owned it for about 5 months now. We're not using it everyday either, only 3 times a week (if that). We have never had to go through so many batteries for a remote. Maybe we got a dud, but this is our experience. If this remote could be remade into a rechargeable one, we would buy instantly.Overall would still recommend it because it does ... This is a terribly designed remote control. Don't let the positive reviews fool you. While it appears svelte and minimalist, it lacks some basic functions that makes one wonder what is the point of a remote control that lacks:- A genuine chapter fast-forward or reverse button. You can scan forward or backward, but sometimes when a blu-ray crashes and you have to restart it, and the PS5 conveniently forgets where you were, booting you back to the main menu, being able to just tap forward to where you were, instead of having to find the disc's chapter select, would be really nice. You can't do this though.- There's no actual stop button. In an effort to reduce the buttons on what's supposed to be a functional remote, there's a pause/play button, but no proper ... You can't do this though.- There's no actual stop button. In an effort to reduce the buttons on what's supposed to be a functional remote, there's a pause/play button, but no proper 'stop' button. There's the PS 'home' button, but the disc is still technically 'active' unless you close the application completely.- No eject button. Why?- There's not a flat resting edge on this remote at all, which makes it prone to sliding all over the place. What the practical reason for designing this thing without a flat bottom to rest on your nightstand, side table, arm rest, whatever, is beyond me.- The PS 'home' button should have been recessed and flush with the surface of the controller. Raised as it is, it is far too easy to accidentally press it while rummaging for other remotes in my remote drawer, causing me to accidentally turn on my PS5 way more often than I'd like to. This sometimes forces me to turn on my soundbar, my projector, and to wait for everything to go through their start-up routines before I can go through the motions of shutting my PlayStation 5 back down, which wastes on average 2-3 minutes, which is a real hassle if I'm just trying to leave the house and go somewhere. In the effort to make a remote control that mirrors the annoying, sweeping architectural lines of the PS5 itself, this remote was designed to lack the most basic of functions. It's almost better to just use a DualSense controller instead of this garbage. I feel like this remote control is my entertainment enemy.

Surprisingly satisfying peripheral. The IR functions that allow it to learn how to communicate with your television are simple to set up and while they only cover the basic functions of TV volume and power, that's enough to function as the primary remote if your console is your primary entertainment device like mine is.In comparison to the PS4 remote, this one connects with the console much faster, so you're spending more time engaging with the desired content than waiting for the remote to at first connect.Sleek, simple design and the specific streaming platform buttons make it even easier to simply jump to the content you wish to view.Only thing I'm not a fan of is the rounded bottom of the controller. It doesn't lay flat or still. It has a tendency to rock and rotate on the table when you set it down. I'm a little nitpicky about that kind of stuff. I like my products to lay flat and remain still when I set them down rather than run the risk of them falling onto the ground and becoming damaged. This is minor and doesn't take away from the overall product experience.Overall, this is one of my favorite things about the PS5. Highly recommend to any interested parties.
This remote worked great at first! However, after having if for no less than 1 month, the controller stopped pairing with the PS5. Not to mention getting to the back compartment housing for the batteries is a chore. Everytime the PS5 is turned on now this controller has to be re-paired for it to work, and occasionally at that! I had hoped this controller would replace having to use the standard PS5 controller to preserve its battery life but it's best to go back to what works better and what is more reliable for the system. I had read the nrgative reviews regarding this product but thought, "what the heck, maybe that's just isolated incidents and I'll fair better with it" NOT THE CASE! The price is the only good thing about this controller because afterwards you will be glad that you didn't spend more on it, which isn't saying much!
Easy to install - like incredibly easy to install. The darn thing even recognized my television brand and model and automatically configured volume control.Fits in my hand nicely. Has all the critical functions. Not as simple to use as an Apple TV remote - but close. Far better than the PS4 media remote (crazy full of useless buttons). It isn't the remote's fault, but displaying time remaining on a disc is a pain - or shall we say a hidden easter egg. The little silly three line / hamburger button shows that. And I really would have liked a slow motion button.I can do without the dedicated services buttons. But then again, those companies are subsidizing the remote, so the price is far lower than without those goofy things.
This remote is exactly what it says it is. A simple remote for the PS5. If you want a remote with more functionality, this ain't it chief, but it does its job. Pairs fast with the PS5 and my TV, though you can't change the HDMI output with this remote, which I'm disappointed about. The remote comes with Sony branded AA batteries which are nice. When opening the remote, make sure to press the little black button before lifting off the back. It got me at first but gets easier over time. Also, if you see the back cover stick out a little at the top of the remote, don't fret. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY. I think Sony wanted it to match the design aesthetic of the PS5 with the spaceship-like look and all. You can decide if they succeeded or not. Thumbs up from this ... Overall the remote paired up easily and works fine. The detractors are too big not to mention. Those 5 buttons at the bottom that were intended to be oh-so-handy. Let's start with the media buttons. You can't reprogram them or disable them.Personally, of the 4 pre-programmed buttons, I have a subscription to Netflix. That leaves me with 3 useless buttons. Except that they're not completely useless, they're actually a pretty major hindrance. They press very easily so if you say, set the remote on the couch and then accidentally sit on it, there's a very good chance you just interrupted whatever you were watching to load Spotify or Youtube. Not only can I not use these buttons for their intended purpose (because I don't use those apps, maybe someday YouTube will ... They press very easily so if you say, set the remote on the couch and then accidentally sit on it, there's a very good chance you just interrupted whatever you were watching to load Spotify or Youtube. Not only can I not use these buttons for their intended purpose (because I don't use those apps, maybe someday YouTube will make it into my regular viewing I guess?) they actively work against me, daily, when I'm using an app that I actually do subscribe to that maybe just didn't want to pay Sony to be represented on their remote. The PS button has the same issue but to a much lesser degree. It seems to happen less frequently for me and if it does I just press it again to close the overlay it brings up. Maybe relocate this towards the top in future versions of this janky remote so it doesn't come up. If this were the only problem I'd definitely consider it workable. The media buttons are absolutely worth avoiding this remote for. If they add some sort of "Safety" feature in an update so that it's not interrupting my programming on a daily basis I would up this to a 3 or 4 star review but even then the simple fact that they're not programmable is silly and a pretty major detractor.Don't waste your money unless you're aware of the exact placement of your remote at all times or you will almost definitely run into the same problems and REALLY like Youtube and Spotify.
The description of this remote control is accurate. a basic PS5 remote control. Although it doesn't have all the features you might desire in a remote, it gets the job done. The PS5 and my TV quickly pair with this remote, however I'm surprised that you can't alter the HDMI output. It's good that the remote comes with AA batteries bearing the Sony brand. Make sure to click the tiny black button before peeling off the back of the remote before opening it. It initially confused me, but it gets simpler with time. Don't worry if the rear cover of the remote appears to protrude slightly from the top. With its spaceship-like appearance and other design cues, I believe Sony wanted it to complement the PS5's design language. Whether or not they were successful is up to you.
