If you’ve dialled in a sweet-spot, sure they sound good enough (with the help of a 12ā€, 500watt powered sub), but as soon as you leave that spot, they fade away and you quickly realize these aren’t enough for a room that size. (My previous setup included RTiA9, and that was sufficient).Bottom line, depending on the size of room, you’re better off getting the ES55, and invest a little bit more, it’s worth it.

The wood finish on the elite series is nice, although the front cover is plastic.I will most likely add the ES30/ES35 center channel and the ES55/ES70 floorstanding speakers in the future.

I have always enjoyed a good sound quality in speakers since i was in my teens. I don’t consider myself an audiophile but just want clean clear crisp sound. My wife and I listen to all kinds of music. I upgraded to these speakers from a bose jewel cube system. The improvement was day and night. I heard sounds in music that i was not hearing from the bose. The bass is clean and tight. The mids and highs are warm and crisp. They are also great in a home theater setup. If you match it with the polk center channel. I also have these speakers biamped which seemed to have opened them up a little more than just regular connection. This a great pair of towers for the price.

Just an absolutely gorgeous sound. I thought my old trusted Sony towers I bought back in 1996 were decent - man, was I wrong! Hooked these up to the same now vintage Technics amp - what a difference! Played Sarah Brightman's Fleur du Mal at first - didn't notice that much of a difference, but then put on some Chris Spheris - and that's when they opened up. I could hear instruments I didn't even know were there before. So detailed, yet not tiring. Deep, soft bass, more than enough for music, probably would be good enough for movies too without a sub. But it's not the volume of it that makes it so pleasant, it's the softness. Drums sound like "pooh" rather than "broom" and cymbals are crystal clear.Very linear frequency response - no matter what I did with the ...Ā MoreJust an absolutely gorgeous sound. The Sonys needed a bit of a boost in both lows and highs - these Polks are just linear, just set the tone correction to zero and don't mess with them.Waiting for the pair of XT60s to arrive in a few days - want to compare them. The XT60s cost exactly half of ES55s, so don't know which ones I'm gonna keep. But regardless of that, these are absolutely awesome speakers. Just don't know yet if they're worth every penny :)

My 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos Family Room

Beautiful esthetics. clean, crisp warm sound... I'm no audiophile by any means, but I've been a DJ and music lover for decades - I know what I like when it comes to sound. First challenge was my space. I live in a townhome and have multipurpose spaces. Our home theatre was not going to be in a dedicated space, but rather in our family/living room. The main floor is open concept so the kitchen and dining rooms are all the same space. I had very precise measurements to bring this to life. The speakers needed to 'disappear with the decore' as best as possible. And I didn't need the sound to be at extremes knowing I'll be rattling my neighbours. A little rattle is a good thing šŸ˜‰. Lastly, this was for music and movies - was I asking for too much with a conservative/reasonable budget? Nope! I pieced this all across a couple of months, checking for sales on Polk and local big box stores. I wanted the Signature Elites in white - no compromise. Patience prevailed and there is not a moment this sound system isn't working for pleasure every evening. I ended up going with the ES50's as LR, ES35 for C and ES15's for rear surrounds flanking the couch. Atmos was tricky, I'm used to in-ceiling in our previous home, but the build of this new house will require major work to create a clean look. So I decided to give the XT90's a try... Not bad at all, I did need to bump them a couple of decibels higher than my surrounds to make the upward firing experience work well. I really do wish Polk made elevations to match the Signature Elite's design. But the XT's just fit perfectly on top of the ES50 and ES15s. Long story short - I'm happy, really happy. The family loves it! The sound is what I needed. There is more than enough power available to me - driving with my Onkyo. It's level yet warm. I do not experience any fatigue, regardless of long music listening sessions or binge watching John Wick - You will not be disappointed.

Pleasantly surprised
15 December 2022

I’m an older audiophile, after much research I found the ES60’s. Was a fan of Matthew Polk years ago but was apprehensive given the bass specs but in comparing to others in the price range the choice became clear. After getting them connected (used 14 gauge wire from my Yamaha ReceiverI’ve been pleasantly surprised by the bass response. I have them in a ā€œliveā€ room and while I had planned on buying a sub after playing Blues, Classic Rock, Metal, Salsa and a few Bob Marley songs I’m content with performance of the speakers.in all areas.Granted they don’t kick like speakers with 12’ woofers they’re fine in my environmentI would recommend them and would suggest giving them a listen at home before running out and getting a sub

Quality and performance at this price...go for it.

I bought these speakers to use for music in a stereo system, no home theater. These Signature Elite ES60s are amazing. They reproduce the mids and highs so clearly and spaciously, with accuracy and depth, but what is even more remarkable is the bass capability. I'm kind of an old-school stereophile, and generally adhered to the philosophy that in order to obtain truly deep and truly strong bass, you had to have huge cones, period. Whatever magic Polk has done with the combination of the drivers, the cabinet and the power port, it works spectacularly...prodigious bass, even without being augmented by turning up the bass control, utilizing the loudness feature or the "Dynanic Bass Expander" feature found on my very powerful and heavy top-of-the-line Onkyo TX-108 from ...Ā MoreI bought these speakers to use for music in a stereo system, no home theater. I won't speak for a HT setup, but I can say that for music you will not require a subwoofer if you own a pair of these. I sit and listen to various types of music, and shake my head at just how superb the sound quality is that I'm experiencing from these gems, no bi-amping or bi-wiring. For this kind of sonic superiority at this price, it's a no-brainer.

Small footprint, large sound
8 November 2022

These little speakers have great sound quality. I tested them in an A/B stereo main speaker configuration against a pair of Design Acoustic PS8A speakers. Obviously they didn't have the low end of the PS8As, but they sounded crisp & bright in comparison. As surround speakers they are more than up to the job. The plugs in the binding post banana jacks were challenging to remove, but at least you only have to do that once. I bought a white pair & would have preferred the grills were white as well.I would recommend these and will look to Polk Audio for future speaker needs. I just wish they were made in the USA and not just designed here.

Sound great, great deal, massive speakers
12 February 2023

These ES20s are massive. I upgraded from Polk T15s and decided on the ES20 as opposed to the ES15 because of a great open box deal. They were listed as "Excellent" condition and arrived exactly as described. They sound absolutely fantastic, but they are so large. I'm using them for surrounds in a 7.1 system. They're great if you have the room, but these would be better suited as front or rear speakers due to their size. If you're looking for surrounds and debating ES15s or ES20s, go for the ES15s unless you get a deal and have the space. The included photo is a T15 on top of the ES20 for comparison.

So, I bought my first real set of speakers, Boston Acoustic VR-30's in 1993 and i absolutely loved them. Decades came and went, new receiver after new receiver and I always kept my VR's. A few years ago I finally decided to start looking for a replacement. The VR's were looking a little rough. After researching a number of brands, I decided to give Polk a hard look. They had a loyal following and seemed to offer value for the money. After 29 years I finally did it and bought a pair of ES-60's, ES-20's, and an ES-35 center and WOW! They're a little on the bright side for my taste but I expect them to warm up a little after break in. And I'm not a fan of attaching the feet to MDF (medium density fiber). It's a weak point in the cabinet design that has potential, if not expectation to eventually fail. So move them gently.Aside from that, if value and performance are most important to you, you will not be disappointed. We don't all have $5000 to spend on speakers and these punch way above their weight. I would highly recommend these at this price point.
