Proactiv Deep Cleansing Face Wash, 6 oz

I've been using this for two weeks and really like it. I don't have acne prone skin, but I do have a small break out or blemish periodically. This liquid cleanser is designed to really clean your pores, by gently exfoliating the skin by tiny beads that leaves your face feeling clean and light, and will improve the smoothness of your skin. I use this with my acne cleansing brush, and it foams up well, much more foamy than what I imagined based on the appearacne of the cleanser. It comes out fairly thick, and you can see the tiny beads that are going to help you get that deep-clean feeling. Even thought this exfoliates, it is gentle, and can be used on any skin type, but is made for acne prone skin. I am head over heels in love with this face wash. It’s like an amped up drug store favorite I used to have. The 6 Oz bottle lasts me a full 3 months but sometimes longer since I do rotate my face washes. This is a very gritty scrub that truly cleans the skin deep down. My face never truly felt clean until I started using this twice a day. My skin has cleared up so so much after the last year. I am confident and more healthy. Surprisingly, it all started with my skin! This saved my confidence. 🖤 When used twice a day this product has caused me to have dryness but I keep my cabinet stocked with proactive and there’s always something in reach to calm my skin. I’m really impressed with this cleanser! I’ve never tried any Proactiv products before, but I know of people that used Proactiv acne products in the early 2000s and I always heard from them that the products were super drying. Because of that, I didn’t have high hopes for this cleanser at all. I wasn’t expecting it to be an exfoliating cleanser, but the granules were super gentle. My skin was left feeling clean, invigorated, but not scratched and damaged. The cleanser also left my skin feeling just as moisturized as it did before washing. It wasn’t drying at all. What surprised me most was how incredibly well it removed my makeup. Even my mascara and eyeshadow came off with ease. All in all, I’m happily surprised by how much I like this cleanser.

Contains Isopropyl Alcohol

I received this face wash as part of a free gift here on ULTA. In my teenage years, I used to use Proactive because unfortunately I fell into their infomercial claims back in the day. And as as any teenager back in the day, I would NEVER check the ingredients list. All of that has changed, and fortunately for me I was able to find a skincare brand that completely changed my face, and made me check the ingredients list: Paula's Choice. Upon receiving this in the mail, I looked up the ingredients and was surprised to see it had some very good ingredients listed first, such as 'cocamidopropyl betaine', which is plant-derived and low risk for sensitizing skin. However all that is ruined when you get down further on the list and see that this face wash contains ... MoreI received this face wash as part of a free gift here on ULTA. Upon receiving this in the mail, I looked up the ingredients and was surprised to see it had some very good ingredients listed first, such as 'cocamidopropyl betaine', which is plant-derived and low risk for sensitizing skin. However all that is ruined when you get down further on the list and see that this face wash contains 'isopropyl alcohol' which is basically rubbing alcohol. I still decided to give it a try, and low and behold it made me face red, patchy, and dry! And took me back to my high school years of choosing poor cleansers that agitated my skin. No thank you! Which is such a shame, because as i said before, it does contain some good cleansing ingredients. I have oily combination skin, if that helps.

Proactiv Deep Cleansing Face Wash

I got to try this cleanser because it was included in the new ProactivMD 3-Piece Kit. Out of the 3 steps my least favorite is The Proactiv Deep Cleansing Face Wash. This is meant to be used twice daily but it is a physical exfoliant as it contains polyethylene beads which might be too harsh for alot of people, myself included. (also that ingredient is not environmentally friendly which I'm not a fan of). So I only used the cleanser 1-3 times a week maximum. And I throughly avoid using if I have a n active breakout. I will say it does a great job at getting rid of the rough dry skin/patches from when your skin is getting used to the Step 2 Proactiv Adapalene treatment and leaves my skin feeling very smooth after using it. Proactiv has never dissapointed me

But the price is usually what makes me take a break, then I forget how amazing it is.Also regular proactiv and proactiv+ was really harsh on my skin but my skin would gradually get use to it after a few months. I would say 2 months in, your skin will be flawless with all 3 diff kinds of proactive solutions. This one however has proven to be the least drying and side effects. It did take a little longer to have real results then the original formula BUT it was definitely worth the wait. My skin is amazing, not a single pimple. Remember with proactiv, it deeply cleans your pores so as it is drawing them out from the surface, your skin could break out and become irritated, but if you keep using it and get past that ... MoreOk, I have always used proactiv on and off for years. Also, I use Kiels midnight repair serum to help keep my skin from drying out. A good moisturizer is always needed!

Staple of my nighttime routine

I have tried so many over the counter since treatments but none seemed to work. I created an acne problem on my face after using coconut oil on eyebrows and lashes to try to make the hair thicker. For years afterwards I had these big deep pimples that would erupt on my forehead and then spread to my cheeks. Almost immediately after using this proactive face wash the problem started clearing up and reducing outbreaks. Now I cannot imagine going to bed without washing my face with this product. Best product for my problem. Try out a bottle to see if it works for you.

Stick to the original

I've been using the original formula since I was 10. This cleanser was on sale so I decided to try it. I've been breaking out like crazy the last 2 months. Will definitely be going back to the original. This just doesn't do what the original cleanser does. If you're a first time user, avoid this and go straight to the original cleanser that's in the 3-step kit. This stuff does NOT work and usually proactiv is a miracle treatment for me. But not this. Avoid at all costs.

The granules weren't harsh, and for the most part, dissolved and was great for every day use. I didn't have a problem using this with my hands and my cleansing brush, but there were several times where I felt the need to either rinse very well or double cleanse with something else. Sometimes those granules just stay if I don't excessively rinse. Sometimes I don't notice until I'm applying my toner to feel what was left from the cleanser. I definitely recommending double cleansing with this being the first cleanse just make sure any residue or left over exfoliating beads from this face wash is gone. Not completely rinsing off a face wash can be just as bad as not washing at all. As for the claim that it's for acne-prone skin, I can believe that. Being someone that still suffers from acne, I can say that my skin has improved significantly with this being in my regimen. I'm extremely satisfied. Kudos to Proactiv for making their line much more accessible with more range than just the 3-step BS.

This and the spot treatment were my favorites as I didn't care too much for the oil control/spf in step 3. i love the little beads in it (not irritating) and love the cooling effect of this while not being too cooling or uncomfortable at all. noticed clearer skin and softer more even skin within 3 uses/days of using. Thank you Proactiv! only down fall I noticed was that you need continued use for this to work. if I quit using for more than a week I noticed new blemishes (mostly in places I never got blemishes before) either way this is a great face wash and I feel it really is cleansing and the best part of Proactivs ... More5 Stars would purchase.
