ProGrade SD UHS-II Dual-Slot Memory Card Reader Gen 2
If your computer has a fast USB port (USB 3.2 Gen 2) that can move data at 10 billion bits per second, this device is for you. The card reader has two slots where you can put your memory cards. It can transfer data really fast, up to 1.25 billion bytes per second. You can use both slots at the same time. The good thing is, it gets power from your computer through the USB cable, so you don't need extra power cords. It stays in place on your desk because it has a magnetic bottom. Please note that this card reader supports Windows 10 and macOS 10.6 or later. To achieve full USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speeds, your USB host connection, cables, and device must all support USB 3.2 Gen 2, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 2 and USB 3.1. For systems that don't support USB 3.2 Gen 2, this card reader is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.0.

I copied about 272 RAW files from a my Canon EOS 80D from an old SanDisk Class 10 SDXC card to an SSD in my Win t0 laptop with an older USB 3.0 card reader plugged into a USB 3.0 jack. The transfer speed averaged 6 MB/second. Took half an hour, plus a minute or to for a readback compare. (The copy software was TeraCopy.) When I received this reader today, as a test I repeated the copy of the same files, from the same card, through the same USB jack, into a new folder on the same SSD. This time the entire process, including the readback compare, took four minutes. The transfer speed averaged 50 MB/second - much faster than 30MB/s speed rating printed the card. I bought this to increase my Lightroom Classic import speeds from Sony M SDXC cards. New AMD 5800x PC with many USB 3.2 Gen1 & 2 ports. With this unit I encountered issues where the indicator was flashing but nothing was transferring. I could not eject the device nor terminate the connection. Reboot required.Sent email to ProGrade tech support but never got call or response from them.Prior to buying this I was using Sony MRW-S1. I will go back to using it...

I really like that it can write two SDs simultaneously to two seperate drives. Definite time saver. But my reader has a very strong magnetic field... like it could easily hold on to a moving car. Is that normal? Do you think this could damage other equipment? HDs? Microfones? Cameras that might be in the same case?

I have owned several card readers and found that eventually all of them have failed mechanically. The last one ended with having to hold onto the cable at the point of connection while the upload to the computer took place. Sometimes a long procedure with the very large files from my Fuji GFX camera. Now, this ProGrade reader has really impressed me: thoroughly solid construction, cards fit in with a well defined feel, card reading is fast and without error. The reader has a very solid feel to it and I expect it to last a very long time.Highly Recommended and worth the price to me.
Just about perfect for my uses. Sticks magnetically to my desktop when I am at home. Box came with a branded steel plate (looks nice) and I used this on my laptop to create a strong mount point for the card reader when I am on the go.This Prograde UHS-II card reader is FAST. Using a Sony V90 64gb SD Card, I can process RAW files directly from the memory card without importing first. This has changed how I review and process the 100s of photos I somehow manage to collect after a day out exploring.VERY happy and no regrets. Only minor surprise is the entire card readers is made of high quality plastic, for some reason I had it in my mind that this was made of aluminum.
Great quality feel and great performance. In several uses it seemed very fast, so I generated some actual data, haha. Test computer (2018 Mac mini), connected through USB C cable provided.Test cards: Card 1, 32 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro 300 MB/s max. Results: 180 write, 260 read. Card 2, 64 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s max. Results 79 read, 92 write. Conclusion, awesome performance on fast cards! The internal reader on my 2013 13 inch retina MacBook Pro gave about 70-90 read and write speed for both cards, so the card reader provides about 3 times faster download for the fast card. I did not testing of simultaneous downloads from both slots, which should be a very useful feature with bigger shoots.
I really like this product. Its fast, dual transfers really help speed things up and allow me to go to bed sooner, when transfer multiple cards after a long shoot day.The one thing I don't love, that was flagged, is that the product has a magnet that could impact hard drives when stored together. It's not a deal breaker but I usually keep all of my electronics in the same bag and won't be able to with this.Otherwise, great!
I have not had a chance to use this slot memory card reader very much, but I bought this reader and some ProGrade Digital SD UHS-II cards for my camera after having lost a large number of images. While I cannot say for certain that the problem I’d had was due either to the cards I had at the time, or due to trying to download to my computer by hooking up the camera by its cable, I knew I needed to make a change. I did a fair amount of research online and decided on ProGrade SD cards. I was then happy to find that there was also a highly rated card reader by ProGrade as well. What I can say about my experience so far is that the card reader is fast! I also like the fact that the reader is compact and easy to take along if I travel.
Purchased this a few months ago for my laptop. I get about 145 - 150 MB/seconds on my internal SD card reader, and about 135 -140 when I plug this into my usb c port. I thought maybe some component in my laptop was not up to snuff, so I tossed this aside and forgot about it, having not returned it in time.Fast forward to now and I've just built a brand new desktop with usb-c ports and was thinking this would be a good time to re-try it.In some tests on the new desktop, I get 900MB/s second for 1 or 2 seconds, and then the speed drops to 135-145 MB/secI'm using Lexar Professional 2000x UHS-II SDXC Memory Cards and writing to Samsung SSD 970 and 980 EVO 1TB M.2 drives.Color me unimpressed.
Had I posted this review 1-month after purchase, it would have been 5 stars. The speed is amazing, especially with NvME or Solid state drives that would regularly give transfer speeds nearing 100MBps. Even non-prograde brand cards had boosted performance from this reader. That it magnetically attached to the computer case is handy as it makes card insertion and removal a one-handed job and keeps the reader from moving, falling, or otherwise going places it wasn't supposed to.Fast forward to 2 years after purchase... Frequent stops for interrupted file transfers have me reverting to my old reliable reader that, while transferring at a slower rate, experiences no interruptions. It would be a sad day for me if I didn't have a backup since this Pro-Grade reader is only pro for about 2 years. My $20 reader is 3x that old and keeps going. Slower, but actually faster.
