Ok, console gamer here. Rolled the dice on this as it's my first Razer product. I gave it a shot based on good reviews and it generally has not disappointed. I've thoroughly used these headphones and here are my pros and cons:PROS:- Excellent sound and equalizing balance between bass and treble etc.- Good longevity and durability as it's been close to a year and they are still going strong.CONS:- A selling feature that was advertised was these cooling gel and at first was good, but this "cooling" gel now feels like "heating" gel as they are not very breathable and find them hot- my ears do hurt after some time now as whatever separates the ears from the hard plastic against the ears now must be and ears hurt often with use.- Friends always tell me how ... MoreOk, console gamer here. Razer can improve on comfort, its weight and this cooling thing I was sold on but over all a good buy and does the job pretty well.

I bought these as I am a gamer and enjoy the surround sound and these were meant to replace my logitechs that just broke. So as a regular headset, they work perfectly fine. Plug it in and it will work.*BUT* unexpectedly if you want to use or enable the THX Spatial surround sound, you have to pay extra. Now as of 3/20/22 the Tournament edition comes with a discount code of 50% off making making it $10 USD. With that said, I use a MSI Gaming Laptop, state of the art with a gtx 2080 8gb gpu...I mention that for this **warning. I was not successful in installing some of the razer software. I kept getting the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). So I could not install some of the software, but was able to install the THX Spatial software they want you to use.... *But, with ... MoreI bought these as I am a gamer and enjoy the surround sound and these were meant to replace my logitechs that just broke. I have rated the Razer Kraken as 3 stars because many of the advertised features only function when used for PC Gaming. Be aware that the USB Audio Controller is NOT used with the Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo Switch. Instead of using the wired remote, the headset will simply plug into your controller using a standard 3.5 mm plug. If you are not purchasing this headset for use with PC Gaming, then I feel as though you are being overcharged as you are paying for features and a remote that you will not be able to utilize. In my opinion, the USB Audio Controller should be sold separately (so that those purchasing for console use aren’t charged for something they can’t use).To be fair, gaming on a home console is still a good experience when using the Kraken – due ... MoreI have rated the Razer Kraken as 3 stars because many of the advertised features only function when used for PC Gaming. The headset is light, has quality padding on the head band, and does not squeeze to tightly against your head. The microphone is retractable and does a great job of picking up your voice once you bend the mic to the correct position. (Note, the microphone also picks up on much of the ambient noise in your room as well.) The ear-cups are over sized and comfortable even for those who need to wear glasses while gaming. The ear cushions are made out of a cooling-gel that truly works. When you first put the headphones on, the cushions actually feel cool and while that cooling sensation fades after a while, the headset can be worn for many hours without becoming hot or sweaty. I also appreciate that the material that touches your ear is a soft & stretchy material that will not someday crack and flake like the fake leather used on most headsets. The audio quality is just slightly above average. Bass & Treble are both quite good, but will definitely not blow you away. And again, if you are not connected to a PC, you will not be able to use any of the advance audio features. No customized audio settings, no bass boost, no special THX audio. Because the ear-cups are so large – a fair amount of audio leaks out and can be heard by those sitting hear you. They also do not do a great job of muffling out surrounding noise.

So, I bought this set of headphones for my PS4. I was replacing a set of wireless Turtle Beaches that were broken. I decided to go back with a wired set, because I had gotten tired of dealing with charging batteries, headset dying in the middle of a game, etc.Pros with this set: The wire is long and it comfortably reaches across the room, with line to spare. Also, it's braided canvas like material on the cord, and not rubber...so, less worrying about it eventually starting to break and split from around the wires. And, the price wasn't bad.Cons with this set: This headset is made more for PC. The volume control box does not work with the PS4. And, the price wasn't bad.Cons with this set: This headset is made more for PC. The volume control box does not work with the PS4. My Turtle Beaches had various settings and volune control, that worked with the PS4. For instance, you had bass boost, superhuman hearing setting, and you could control game sound and chat sound separately. This set has none of that. The volume control only turns up the volume of game and chat simultaneously. So, I found myself playing FPS and not being able to clearly hear my team, over the game sound. Additionally, the volume is not clear at full peak. Some games will sound very low, also.In all, it's a decent backup set, to a good pair of wireless headphones. If your battery dies, mid game, just throw these on until it's done charging. But, I definitely would NOT recommend these as a primary headset...only a backup. I will definitely be purchasing another primary set, like the Turtle Beaches.
Immediately after purchasing I was a little regretful of spending the extra money. Upon using the headset the quality is evident. I am usually gaming for up to 12 hours at a time and I cpmfort was a bit factor in deciding what to buy. The earcups fit around the ears adding no pressure, the headset is chunky and very well built however are light enough to wear for long periods. The sound is fantastic with amazing low end for a beefy bass and the treble retains great sharpness without being tinny. You are given a code to register allowing you to download Razers 7.1 stereo surround sound feature which works well especially while playing games where sound is important to locate specific interactions (i.e. FPS shooters: enemy coming from your left? Has a standard audio jack so fits into most universal audio jack features products (phones, tablets, etc.) And comes with a USB attachment with additional sound controls and microphone controls. The microphone is excellent and works flawlessly, you may want to add some pop-protection on the mic for better audio results if you like however it isnt required. Quick mute feature works as intended.I am slightly biased owning up to loving Razer products but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality you get from these mid-high tier heads..those 50mm drivers are epic for £100!
Got this on sale for $50 off about a year and half ago. Still going strong since then. This headset can fit pretty much anyone due to its adjustable headband and pretty flexible nature. This is also quite durable since there were times that I dropped this on the floor and yanked on the wire too hard. The sound quality is also amazing for gaming and listening to music. I've tested it with discord, OBS while streaming, and even plugged into my iPhone, and the quality is great. Just don't put it too close to your mouth since it doesn't have a built-in pop filter. I eventually upgraded to a dedicated Blue Yeti microphone so I don't use it anymore, but it is still a great sounding mic if you're talking to friends on discord. You also have two ways to mute your mic: the big mute button on the USB sound control, and the mute switch on the headset wire. I use the former a lot more often. The only feature I can't really talk about is the THX Spatial Audio that comes with the Razer software. I've played a few FPS's with and without the spatial audio, and honestly it sounds virtually the same, thus it won't really improve your gameplay.I don't see myself buying a new headset anytime soon. The price seems to go down every holiday so get it while it's on sale.

It comes with the litttle 7.1 DAC that I love for its chat functionality while on pc especially the included 3m sticker, so it has a place to live. And it’s an easy swap to play my PS4 or switch instead of having to bundle up 6 feet of cable to plug into a controller because all the length is in the DAC.As for build quality I’m still not sure it’s the greatest but still so much better than the turtle beaches I’ve used for the same price. It’s comfy and lightweight on my head. I don’t feel like it’s gunna fall off and it also doesn’t feel like a vise is squeezing me.For sound I wish the bass was a little lower right off the bat, but I’ve tqueaked some settings and in about a half hour I was having a blast playing a variety or games. I haven’t really used it to watch video or listen to music so I can’t comment there. The microphone is a little short for me but it picks up just fine and so far no issues there.Overall I’m pretty pleased with my purchase and my experience at micro center during these trying times couldn’t have been any better. Super professional and friendly. They took all the right precautions and the order ahead for pickup experience was great aside for some out of stock product.
I'm loving this headset. Came nicely packaged. I immediately plugged it my PC. I had downloaded razer's synapse software already and the install was a breeze. You have to make sure in the Windows sound properties that the razer game and razer chat are set as default, one for speakers and the other for communications (mic). Once done, I fired up a game and turned on the THX spatial sound, and it was great! Far better and even a fancier headset I also have that is supposed to have positional sound too (arctics pro with game dac and DTSX 2). I could accurately tell were sounds were coming from in a game like rainbow six. I could accurately tell were sounds were coming from in a game like rainbow six. Remember, the THX spatial sound is an evolution of surround sound, not only gives you 7.1 emulation but also up and down (kind of like dolby atmos or dtsx). The synapse software is unobtrusive and I like that it detects when you have a game running (you may have to alt + tab for a moment to switch to it), you can assign a sound mode to each game you launch (in example, if you like more stereo sound on one game or surround, you can pre set it per game) and it will activate automatically next time you launch the game. This a great feature, but requires the game to be running for the software to detect it and you change your preset. There is room for improvement, maybe like a game scanning feature so it looks for games on your HD and then you can apply the presets. In the mean time they have to be running (I guess its because you can practically apply the preset to any program that is running as long as its outputting sound, so could be other apps, not only games).Comfort was great, I usually game for around 1 hour non stop at nights and I wear glasses and they were fine, no pressing on them and they cover my ears nicely. No sweaty ears either, they seem to have a breathing material or so.Highly recommend them if you want to hear everything around you!!
Being a Razer product, you expect quality. When it comes to sound, these don't disappoint. They do sound awesome. I was a little disappointed with the fit however as the head band does not provide much force at all to hold the cups to your ears. This results in the feeling of having the entire weight on the headband and they do not feel stable at all. Tilting my head down slightly is enough to get these to move from where they are comfortable. The lack of clamping force also means that the cups do not seal as well as they could, letting in more outside noise than necessary. The cups also only have a very limited tilt, so makes it more difficult to get them to fit well. Maybe its just my head, maybe it'll fit yours. If it does you will love them. Don't get me wrong. The Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Headset is great! I have a number of Razer products and I've always been exceedingly happy with them. This would be a 5 Star review if I hadn't spent days trying with and without Razer's "Help" attempting to register my headset. There are now about 6 hours of my life that I will never get back wasted on simply trying to register the purchase. That process has been a nightmare than has not yet ended. My frustration level has reached the point that I need to calm down for another day or two before I try again. It's a registration! That should take 2 minutes or less not hours of madness.
