Real TECHNIQUES- Setting Brush

The perfect size for setting makeup. I love, love, LOOOOVE this brush! The size, shape feel of the bristles deliver the most airbrushed finish onto my skin. I tend to wear more minimal, skin-like makeup looks on the daily so this works very well to add just a light layer of powder product, especially under my eyes. This is one of the few brushes I use regularly despite the makeup look I am going for. I wish they offered this brush in their neutral/natural brush color way! My aesthetic tends to lean towards more earthy, neutral tones… nonetheless, this does not take away from the actual brush performance at all rather it is my picky preference :)

There are so many things I love about this brush! The handle is very ergonomically, and the brush shape is perfection. The bristles are very soft, which makes for smooth application. I love using this brush for so many different applications! If I lost this brush I’d immediately repurchase. I actually have 3 of them and all are slightly different. One is really old like 6 years old and it’s my fave bc it’s thinner, more tapered, and less dense than newer iterations. One was from a kit and one was newer bought as a single brush and both of those are still good but more plush which makes it a little more work to apply undereye powder but still really good. They’re the best undereye setting brush and also amazing for powder highlighter. This and the Elf Complexion brush are all you need for face powder.

If there was only 1 brush by Real Techniques I could recommend this would be it. You've probably seen it in all of your favorite Youtubers' videos, this is a staple needed for everyone's collection. It's labeled as a setting brush but truly it's a multi tasker. Besides setting well, it puts foundation on beautifully as well as concealer and even contour and highlight. Is there anything this brush can't do? I think not.

I love this brush! The bristles are super soft but dense enough to get even distribution of product. It doesn’t soak up a lot of products like some brushes and sponges do, so you don’t need a lot. It blends well, doesn’t leave foundation looking streaky or patchy. There’s no shedding either which is a must for me with brushes. The price is super reasonable too! I would definitely recommend this!

I’m a huge real techniques fan, so when I saw this in store I had to get it. It has worked absolutely great for everyday use. I’ve had it for a few years already and haven’t had any shedding. I’ve washed it many many times with no issue. It’s not dense but it’s no thin. The size is perfect for setting my under-eyes. It has definitely become a staple in my everyday makeup brushes. So glad I purchased this brush.

Dense but super soft, this little brush is a multitasking delight! Due to it’s size and shape, it fits easily into most facial contours (even very petite ones), blending products beautifully. Although some may not prefer the shorter, wider handle, it is perfect for those with a hand disability (such as myself) or those needing to be closer to the mirror due to vision concerns. I primarily use this brush to apply contour, as it was specifically purchased for that purpose.

Multitasking Brush

I use this brush for everything, and I've got 3 of them because they're so cheap and so functional. I bought my first one of this brush maybe 5-6 years ago, and I've just been buying more over the years as I find more and more uses for it. They really hold up over time too! I wash them every week and after 5 years, they're all just as fluffy as when I first purchased them. You can blend out cream highlighter/bronzer/contour/blush. You can use this for all your powders (I personally use for highlighter, under eye, and touchups). They're just so soft and fantastic quality for the price. You can't go wrong with purchasing this brush.

Having owned the Real Techniques Starter Kit for a couple of years and regularly used 3 out of the 5 brushes in it which isnt bad for this sort of set I knew these were great brushes. Theyre durable, versatile and easy to clean. Id struggled trying to find a brush in my collection of other brushes that was suitable for contouring and had even tried without success to cut down a blusher brush to form an angled head. Though the Starter Kit is good and economical, I actually prefer to buy brushes singly as it quickly becomes apparent with sets which ones are likely to be the most useful. Their main tips dont pick up too much product on the brush and blend really well, building up contour as you go. If youd like to contour effectively without spending a fortune on an appropriate brush, try this. It has the added bonus of a flat base so you can stand it vertically and like all RT brushes, the lower part of the handle is rubberized making them easy to hold and preventing slippage. If youre looking to build a Real Techniques collection on a budget, this brush is an essential a great place to start.
